THE absolute BEST GX-100 demo on TH-cam! I have been going from video to video of supposed demos of the GX-100 & having a permanent look on my face as if a skunk had just taken his final breath whilst parked directly underneath my nose... until NOW!! Knowing that BOSS gear is not only bullet-proof but sounds great as well, I was perplexed. YOU ROCK!!

This is off the hook! Watching this for GX-100’s little brother GX-10. This is how you demo a product that can recreate tones we all know and love, playing the actual songs! Fantastic. Thank you.
SRV, Maiden, Mayer, U2, Soundgarden - very close. You can still here a little of the digital aspect in there but for being able to plug this directly into a board it’s an amazing unit. I have it and every day I am learning how to tweak things. The EQ’s and compressors are essential for getting tones and small adjustments - use a flat EQ as a volume boost for instance or adjust mods to have your tone cut through more i the mix. Extremely versatile unit.
@@sixstringsamurai77 Simon tested it today and told me he definitely liked it. The interface makes it easy to use. That's light years from my old trusty GT8 with switches and knobs. I'll have to stop by his shop to check it out.

WOW man this is a killer demo. So many genres, long enough to get the feel but short enough to not drag on. I thought the SRV one was spot on. Hoobastank haha what a throwback for me, sounded killer. Iron maiden also a top pick for me. Mine arrives this week can't wait to start tweaking.

Great demo, many thanks, Sir! AIRD is really an improvement since COSM era for BOSS, but they haven't won the digital simulation for amp and cabinet yet, compared to other digital brand sadly. Although their fx and modulations are top notch as always

Love it. I have the GT100 and looking to upgrade Can you use the assign for a foot switch to change from one effect to another? Eg. From Flanger to Tremolo? This is possible on the GT line by selecting FX and then type. Is that possible on the GX?
No - because the signal chain works in a different way. You're not using an FX block with many types within it, you're basically just using a block with a specific effect like Flanger or Tremolo. But you could always just put all the effects in the chain and use Assigns to turn them on/off as desired
This is the best way to demo a pedal's capabilities - great job! Boss GX100 sounds fantastic but seems a bit out of my range. Would be great to see such a demo of Zoom G6 and Valeton GP200!!
If you don’t mind me asking you one more question. Some people say the Boss multi fx units have a slightly old school 80s/90s tone. Some also say the amps and preamps are not too great and prefer using IRs. You think this is true in the context of the Boss GX 100? The reason I am asking because I cannot demo this pedal where I live. And also because I plan to use it for home recording. Thanks!

This was great but it sounded like the cab simulation was off on all of the presets. I definitely think purchasing one of these was a good buy though. I cant wait to get mine set up after using a gt10 for so long.

Is there a way to see how he got all of these custom settings? Not the download code, rather just to see what he types into the pedal to get these settings. That way I can get them without downloading rather just old fashioned typing it in myself.
I didn't think that was possible with POD Go, could you tell me a bit more about how that can be achieved? I haven't tried this on GX but happy to test for you
@@sixstringsamurai77 in pod go you have amp out output that bypasses cab sim and goes straight into power amp, and you connect to mixer with balanced 1/4 output with cab sim on.

Looking for something close to his rhythm, lead, and clean sounds. I tried doing it myself, but I seem to suck at it. haha. You may have already done this somewhere else, but I can't find a tone for the GX-100.
First off, your playing, your various tone/song choices, just awesome, awesome, awesome. I had a GT1000core that I had to sell and I am trying to decide between buying it again or buying this. A lot of the gain tones sound very (for lack of better words) digital, is that something that can be ironed out with tweaking, or is it a limitation of the pedal? Naturally, I'm not expecting perfection at the price point or from a modeler period, I just want to know what I'm getting into. Thank you for creating this demo!
Thanks for your comment! So, the modelling technology in both pedals is actually the same AIRD engine. Honestly, 99% of the tones I got in this video are just basic EQing without any advanced parametric or graphic EQs. You just have to spend some time to understand the amp models and how to make them work for you. I don't think they sound digital but they definitely sound clean and optimized for performance/mixing (hence they really shine in a musical context like this). Short answer - get whichever one works for you in terms of signal chain, switching, ins and outs etc, and the tone side should follow naturally if you spend a bit of time getting to know the BOSS amps :)

Playing 11/10, but the FX, some sound like 95% original (good enough IMHO), most of them 40% (sounded like from a card board box speaker), was it the boss or the recording gear?
