As a kid, I used to watch Romper room and wait for Miss Nancy to see me through her magic mirror. She didn’t. Now, I’m 58 and waiting for Robbie C to say hey Greg, Seriously, burnout is real. These are good ideas. Thanks for another great video Robbie.
my favorite relaxing way to play is take 3 discs, putter, favorite 5 speed and favorite 8 speed. No bag, no other junk to carry, just walk out with the 3 discs. The walk is more enjoyable, the expectations are low, I can't be baited into throwing extra shots that I have to spend time looking for. casual and relaxing
Spice it up more, go Flippy! I love going super flippy to practice turn overs and hyzerflips. Really helps you nails down your angles and clean releases
A friend of my buddy was one of the guys who made the game legends of the chains, that's a fun game to keep the game fun while out with some buddies throwing.
Safari layout is one of my favorite off season things to do. I've filmed super hole Sunday on my channel for a few years now where we play a crazy pro tour par 4 or 5 that we create on a casual course.
The thing that keeps me active is I don’t go play golf rounds I go play practice rounds and throw multiple shots on each tee and play limited number of holes just shortened tracks from different sections of the course 👍
Love it that you let us know you are human. The bad throw to bench and bad trip. Cannot tell you how many stumps I have almost died on. lol keep up the good work and happy discing!
Occasionally, if the course is pretty empty, I will play it backwards teeing off next to 18's basket throwing to 17's basket and so on. There's one local course with a practice basket behind the #1 tee with a line to 18's basket. I'll start the backwards round like that. Practice basket to 18, 18 to 17, etc.
I never really worry about score - that really helps keep disc golf fun - just focus on the flights and shots. I’ve also started to play more low speed disc rounds, like 5 speed and below. Keeps me from focusing on big, full power drives and let’s me enjoy shot shaping and placement golf.
Me and a friend go to this little pitch and putt course at the break of dawn, and while nobody is there, we create new holes and mandos to make it more fun.
Just got back from playing disc golf. I just got my first ace so I'm feeling pretty good lol. Hyper flip to turn to tree kick to basket 😂. I was hyper flipping for practice and made it
I have enough discs to build like 3-4 different bags. I’ve tried throwing a bag will all innova, all prodigy, all trilogy, and all mvp discs. My main bag is mixed with all manufacturers, but those 4 brands I had enough discs to make a decent bag. It’s fun to try discs I don’t use all the time. Some of them are discs that I used a lot and just didn’t get rid of them when I replaced them, others are ones I liked but didn’t take a spot from my main bag. It’s like bag swapping with yourself 😂
Roller Drives: I have a 'God of Rollers' disc... Not your - Long flight turn over, like a Diamond Gold Orbit (which I also have.. well lost but the Wellington club gave me another as a thanx for a recent donation)... it's a Cosmic Neutron (I think) Lab 2nd swamp find (so lost it has uncleanable brown swamp stains on parts) that is dead flat... I throw it RHFH OH (overhead) into the ground about 10-20ft away on a 11:30 (soft) to 11 O'Clock (hard) throw angle... I can get 30-50 ft near dropping it at my feet and measured 280ft for a pin level birdie and a few 250ft slight uphill birdies on another hole... I have even passed the pin by 1 ft on a 60m grass down hill 30ft, uphill 20ft gulley (ok it then turned and rolled down the ridge and was lost for the next 2 rounds... ANYHOOZE..... I now make it a game to see how well a drive I can get with my RHFHOH roller... often parking it on tail wind or no wind conditions (ok not so hot into headwinds.. what roller IS). It can be disappointing when the roller does better than my actual throw. q8D I also like to look at prison cells other players have put themselves into, and if it's a friendly, often get the others all to see if they can do any better than the 'OK' scramble the originator made.. (Often making them feel so much better seeing the complete mess we all made of it)... Also.. If playing a friendly, and taking more than one drive, I will always take my 1st (usually worst) shot.. because my scramble game is actually quite good. (Probably because I keep throwing myself in Jail)
My local course is 12 holes. I keep a 12 sided die in my bag. When I get to a tea pad, I roll the dye. The only rule I have is it cannot be the hole I’m on or adjacent holes. Say I’m on hole three-holes 2, 3 and four are disallowed. With the right group of folks it is a ton of fun.
Sometimes things can become dull. Dull is not bad; like "boring" it is a state of mind. Too many times our Minds are Full rather than being mindful in the moment and just playing disc golf. Go out there with some intentionality rather than just doing what you do. Set the work, the problems, and the worries aside for that 1-hour. Enjoy it. Savor it. This is the mental side of our sport. No. Every day is not game day, but every day deserves a mental reset.
Me and my friends almost always play Doubles with ourselves (Solo Doubles). So we each have 2 shots per shot and we play from our best disc. Makes us try and practice shots and putts.
Rollers. Thats my tip. Not long, distance rollers, but shorter ones. Max 50m/150ft-ish. Preferably forehand rollers with putters/approach discs/mids (you can throw both a forehand roller and a roller (not sure what its called, Stokely has a video from like a year or two ago where he teaches it. Its basically a forehand roller but the wrist/hand is bent the other way, and closer to your body than a forehand one is. The flightplate will be on the other side, so the disc will roll just like a backhand roller, just shorter).
Bag Swaps...the old guy just can't threw those max weight discs. Man! I would be so sore. Is that fun? Might be interesting watching my friend throw lighter weight and turning everything over!
Game idea! Get a birdie you get a mulligan. That's what I do to practice. It makes it way more fun too because you get better at shots you don't get practice to.
Never Roll Your Ankles again: 9:55 Something my dad taught me that he was taught in the Army conscripts after WWII... Walk with your toes pointed outward (Penguinesque).. (For any Pom/ OZ/Kiwi, see the start to "The Bill" TV Series... The idea (which is why the cops in "the Bill" walk like that, is with your feet facing out it is WAY harder to roll your ankle on a stone.. and for the cops, that means they can watch the surroundings, not their feet when walking 'the beat'. Bonus walking tip.. On those slippery downhills, don't just keep the toes aimed out... tread on your tippy toes not your heels going down. The idea with this is the toe of your shoe 'usually' has better grip... and if you DO slip, your heel hits the ground giving a split more second to recover, or at least look for a landing pad (as a MX trail rider I'm looking for the escape path where I can do the breaking rather than putting the brakes on in the bad spot and going ass over apex in the moment). If you walk down on your heels.. and slip... the next thing to hit the ground is your dignity... Nothing worse than ending a fall with a lump in your throat, specially when the lump is your tailbone. I made it to 56 without ever having been in Hospital (uhh except at 40/50.. see the MX Trail riding for that) thanx to reliable footing... (& dad).
single-disc putter rounds have made me look at courses in a different way, doubles scrambles, charity events, safari courses ... plenty of other good suggestions here in the comments also. Taking a break for a little while isn't always a bad idea, either.
challenge for Robbie....Kelsey smith has admitted she's more into ball golf not really a disc golfer....can you get her out there so she has fun on the course. No shame on brodie i think he's a bit more into rules etc about playing not so much into having fun.
As a kid, I used to watch Romper room and wait for Miss Nancy to see me through her magic mirror. She didn’t. Now, I’m 58 and waiting for Robbie C to say hey Greg,
Seriously, burnout is real. These are good ideas. Thanks for another great video Robbie.
Then spent some time with captain kangaroo and Mr green jeans? 58 in a month and I can relate.

I'm new about 3 months in, 5 different courses, 10 rounds total. The hike is what exilerates me. And lucky to be hanging with my homies.
A friend of my buddy was one of the guys who made the game legends of the chains, that's a fun game to keep the game fun while out with some buddies throwing.
I just got a card game called Ript Revenge. Can’t wait to try it out on the course
My inconsistency keeps me quite engaged 😂
😂 I feel this

Bring on some more Robbie C walk and talk videos!!

I'm about to go play disc golf. But what I'm watching this first first. Thanks Roby this is great
Bringing a chain saw into the woods is a great way to enhance your game and have more fun too
Underrated comment lol
Bag swaps are awesome. Also playing a new course, or a course you normally think is bad OR, too easy.
Bag Swaps...the old guy just can't threw those max weight discs. Man! I would be so sore. Is that fun? Might be interesting watching my friend throw lighter weight and turning everything over!
@ it is best done with your regular buddies who might be the same age or general ability level.

Great advice. I plan on doing a bag swap with my son and thanks to this video I think we will make a safari course too!
Glow golf and Coors light make it fun
Another idea -- Go out and play alternating shot with someone else! Not best shot, just take turns!
That really changes things up 🤘 I even do worst shot with myself some times for perspective 😅
Your videos are so entertaining. I just started my channel and am trying to get things moving.
Always enjoy your videos!
Chill dude. Been watching for a while.
The answer is to always buy 10 more discs that I can barely throw
single-disc putter rounds have made me look at courses in a different way, doubles scrambles, charity events, safari courses ... plenty of other good suggestions here in the comments also. Taking a break for a little while isn't always a bad idea, either.
If there can be a Robbie C titanium ringer gt zone, that would be great.
Just cause I’m a rebel. I watched this after I played glow last night. Hell yaaaa
I'm not good enough to be bored, I just get frustrated haha
Its been a minute. Nice forehand. I thought you had a busted elbow. What did you do to heal it?
I will not get burnt out until sometime after I learn how to aim and not early release or grip lock my throws. 😀
Solid

Can you say hi to Joshua in your nexts video?
I can’t throw forehand.
Two words: field work.
Turbo putts only.
waiting for the day he asks me how im doing
All i do is silly shots. Its far more fun
MAGA turns MDGGA
