Is it odd that I'm feeling emotional? Crispy is all grown up. Look at them! Just the other day not even having a base bar and now being played so beautifully 😭😭😭😭🧡🧡🧡
Crispy looks amazing! What's even more amazing is you've spend you money and time to turn a sacriligeous diy violin into such a beautiful violin and giving it away. Kudos to you. Loved watching the whole process. Twoset should react to this.
I want the violin! I've always wanted to play the violin, but don't have the money for it. I've always wanted to learn it ever since I watched twosetviolin.
Wow, Crispy might not be that sacrilegious after all! 😅😂😎🎻✨ The amount of work to make it sound (and look) not so shabby anymore, is just mindblowing! It becomes a decent starter violin now 😃😏😎. May it goes to the luckiest in the giveaway! 😎✨🎻 PS: glad to see supurrvisor Ash again! 😺😻😺
Imagine if he would have started with a $80 Cecilio violin with the one piece back seven-year-old aged tonewood genuine ebony tailpiece fingerboard and upgraded that one
I think it's really nice and kind of you to make a violin and give it to people who want to play it. I don't think many luthiers would do that. That 🎻 sounds nice btw!
I want the violin! I thoroughly enjoyed the video series. Having wanted to become a luthier at one point before college and now having a small interest in woodworking, I really loved learning the practice and science behind violin making. Maybe I'll play something for you and twoset if I get chosen to be the next caretaker of Crispy. Great job on bringing this series and Crispy to life! 😄🎻
Amazing job. Unfortunately I’m not from the US. Surprisingly the violin looks exactly as I imagined it and I love it. In my opinion it’s more beautiful with this dark shade. Also all the imperfection of the wood makes it so special. I’m a violinist and it would be an honour to get such a unique violin, but it can’t help and I absolutely understand your reasons for not give it away to other continents. Anyway, I enjoyed this content very much. I hope crispy will belong to a talented violinist. Thank you for sharing your work. I’m looking forward for the next videos.
I want the violin! I started violin in the fourth grade at my elementary school. I played up until halfway through 6th grade when we moved out of state and my new school didn’t offer a strings/orchestra program, only band. Since my family wasn’t in a position to financially support private lessons, my violin days came to a sad and premature end. Fast forward some years later and here I find myself captivated by the violin world once again. Enough to watch with utter delight the birth of dear Crispy. Judging by how much time I spend watching others play violin, it may just be time for me to get back into it myself and cheer up that sad little 6th grader in me who let go before she was ready. Crispy would be a great companion on that journey together. Either way though, thank you for doing this series! It was really fascinating to watch it go from a pile of parts to an actual playable instrument. Very cool!
"The giveaway is for the continental US only..." Me: cries in Canadian Jokes aside, this was a very interesting process to watch. The violin is looking great, and I hope that Crispy finds a happy home.
I want the violin! I have a friend who has been wanting to learn the violin for years, but they don't have the money to afford it... So, this would be an amazing Christmas present! I found your channel through your Twoset reaction videos, and I have really enjoyed your content! Thank you for the great videos!
Just watched your series of making a cheap kit violin (OK, I'm two years late). You've made a most entertaining presentation - I got a big kick out of it. Thanks.
I want the violin! I've played for almost thirty years and also dabble in luthier work (mostly trying to make student instruments passably playable), and I've loved watching you transform this kit into something beautiful. It's amazing what a good setup can do. 😊
Wow man! The sacrilegious violin has been reborn into a beauty! It is extremely commendable that you are giving away this violin for not even a compulsary subscription. Hats off to you!❤️❤️
I want the violin! I’ve considered learning violin in the past, but never could convince myself to buy one. I think learning to play would be an excellent creative outlet to get away from the stresses of working in a hospital. This has been such a fun series to watch, to see you give this instrument life!
If the person that wins the violin doesn't knows how to play the violin, he/she will start with a great violin! And that is so important! Give this violin away is a so good idea and a so generous action! Ps: Ash is so cute at 5:49😍 Pps: I forgot, the fact that you give a name to this violin makes me happy, because every non-musician I know find me crazy because i gave a name to my violin.😂
I didn't gave a name to my harp (maybe I'll do it later, I just started playing this year) but I hug it often (don't ask me why, I like to hug precious objects, I do it for books too)
@@SculptyWorks Kinda, but not really for me, because it's leaning against my knees, and I'm not hanging on it (sorry for my poor explanation, I'm still learning English) What I call hugging my harp is when I'm standing next to it, and I put my arms above. I want this violin after careful consideration and I would kinda like a decent violin upgrade. The violin sounds pretty good and I hope to use it to improve my craft.
I want the violin! I love the dark color your "mistake" created! This was the first video of yours I've watched. I did not know about the give away. Liked and Subscribed! I hope I win! That would make a great story for how I got my new violin. I think I'll watch some more of your videos now. Nice work!
I love violins. I could never have afforded a quality violin and wasn't interested in a common manufactured one. I found a luthier in my area while having repairs on my guitar. After getting to know him I inquired about his charge for a custom built Guarnari model. For 9 months I watched and admired this skill and talent while making payments as I could. That was 12 years ago. I love my violin. It's my baby. Much respect to luthiers and their work.
I want the next violin! Matching the grain of the ribs...A sharpy then feather it immediately with your finger....very quickly!.....works nice on gun stocks to match grain in a faux way. I don't know how it will work with varnish but it works nicely with polyurethane if you put the first coat on very lightly and let it dry before additional coats. So you don't smear it. Great video....thanks.....I do the same thing to cheap chinese guitars from a pawn shop......love making a 30.00 guitar into something that plays like a million bucks.
I want the violin! About a year ago I started learning to play the violin after wanting to play one since I was a little girl. Brett and Eddy from Twoset were the ones who finally gave me the courage to go for it. Unfortunately, because of money issues, I was only able to get a cheap violin and I would be so grateful to get a better violin that can make practice even easier and playing more enjoyable. But whoever wins this, I congratulate you :)
I want the violin! But whoever does win it will be receiving a wonderful piece of art in itself. I love how you took a pile of rejects and made an INSTRUMENT out of them. Great work!
Interesting. Your last comments were to avoid doing a DYI kit, and spend money on a better violin. That may work for some, but a few months ago I bought a kit. I wanted to learn what a violin was really. My Great Grandfather had made some. I made a few mistakes, but in the end, I got some sound. I know so little, I did not know rosin was needed. I learned so much building my violin, I am sure it sounds a bit less than a student violin. It was worth the $60 for the kit, and another $60 for tools. It was fun, and gave me a few weeks of entertainment and education. Watching your video is helping me to see what some of my mistakes were. I don't think the kits are for a luthier to use, but more for someone like me, and a much lower level.
I don't know who these kits are targeted to. As far as I can tell (from mine at least), they are a way for a factory to get some extra cash for their rejected parts, offering them out there to whoever dares try to put them together. 😉 But I do agree that it could be a fun project for some, like you described your own experience. 👍 Did you get any videos or recordings of it? I'd love to see it! The part I have a problem with is the marketing. The boastful language they use, saying it's 'easy', and, 'high quality', and you might have seen mine at least was none of those things. These kits are no replacement to getting a proper violin, they are a very roundabout way to making something that /maybe/ will sound good. I understand violins are pricy, so it's likely that some would see "violin kit, only $60!", and think "hey maybe I can make a good instrument without shelling out a whole lot of $$$", and for the average person, that's unlikely to happen. (specially if they don't have tools, like our TwoSetViolin friends 😉 )
I would love to to this just to build one and be able to appreciate the art of doing it. There are way more things that you can spend your money on but building a violin from a kit like this would be a fantastic thing to accomplish. Thanks for the video and I only wish you could do one with a lot more info on the little things you were doing so I could learn more!😉
I want the violin! For many decades I have played guitar and cello. My adult daughter has been urging me to expand to the violin as a retirement pursuit. Thanks for helping to make that possible.
I want the violin! Of course I see I’m way too late, but I enjoyed the series so much it’s worth it. You did make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. And I love Ash.
I want the Violin, even though its long past the cast that was foretold here. It is a marvelous sounding piece, and am certain it went to a good home somewhere. Just goes to show with some skills and proper tools even a substandard DIY can be made to behave as a proper instrument should. The lady at the last was the very best part with her assurances of success. Have a Most Happy 2022!
I want the violin! I gave away my partially completed kit that was started 40 years ago. I have never even held a bow! I have no excuses to offer. Thanks for the kit story. It is fabulous!
I want the violin! i am new to learning to play violin (09/2020) and also learning about the violin. i love the fact that a cheap parted violin could be made into something so beautiful, whether playable or not...playable factor makes it better. this is the type of violin i would chose over any other violin because it challenged the person building it and both them and others have learned from it. for me, violin isnt just about playing the violin, but also about learning as much as possible about it. personally im glad you had an "issue" with stain and had to go darker. looks better.
I want the violin! I don't currently play the violin, but ever since I've stumbled across your channel I've began listening to more pieces with violin and classical music in general. It's been really inspiring seeing this violin come to life and it would really be amazing if this violin would be the start of my musical journey!
I want the violin! I’m a cellist who’s now also learning the violin (fun fact: it’s actually rather easy to apply the knowledge from one instrument to the other, hundred times easier than starting from zero) and to be honest Crispy seems to have turned out very good quality for a $60 DIY kit!
It certainly sounded much better than I would have expected when watching video 1!! WOW!!! The last part where it is in the hands of a violinist, being played, actually made me very emotional! 💕
I want the violin! I am an aspiring fiddler and am i need the fiddle that both looks and sounds just right to me. Surprisingly, this one seems to be perfect to my eyes and ears. Which is a testament to your skills, considering the pile of rubble you started with. Great job.
Hey Crispy came out pretty good! I’m sure whomever wins him will be quite pleased, well done Fox! Nice job also on putting this video together. Nice bits of education and humor 🙂
I want the violin! Ever since I was a child (many years ago), I have wanted to learn how to play the violin. I was first introduced to the violin in the apartment complex that I lived in. Two sisters that I would see from time to time to time would go off to their lesson and I was intrigued. That desire only got stronger as I grew up and discovered classical music. While I grew up, I never lost my love for classical music but, while my desire to learn the violin never really went away, it did go to the back of my mind because it was never really practical because of a lack of money for expensive activities like that. At one point in elementary school, I even joined the school band to try to learn the violin (inspired by Lt. Cmd. Data from Star Trek) but to my disappointment the instrument was already taken. I didn't stay in the band long after discovering that. From time to time in school, people would come and give demonstrations of the violin and I just loved it even more. Now that I am in my older age I finally have been able to start to learn music theory. Last year, I decided that I am finally going to put my foot down and start to learn how to play music. Unfortunately, violins are still expensive so I opted to ask for an inexpensive keyboard to start learning. It has been fun but I still have that yearning to play the violin. I want to learn how to play the violin and feel that this is a great opportunity to get started on my journey to learn how to play. I would be honored to not only learn how to play Crispy but, also, display the violin that you put together from a $60.00 kit. To be honest, I am glad that you did actually make a "happy accident" as I think Crispy looks fantastically beautiful with the darker finish. I am glad that you took this challenge more seriously than our friends at TwoSetViolin. This violin kit is a testament to your talent as a luthier. You took something that was most likely bound for the trash heap and turned it into something that is not only visually appealing but also sounds so beautiful. On a side note, you are very lucky to be able to work with Ash. Ash is such a sweet cat. You are a very fortunate man.
I want the violin!! I’ve been wanting to get back into playing the violin after I stopped playing in eighth grade and would absolutely love to have this one :D
I want the violin! I don't know how to play violin but I would love to learn. Me and my children are Twosetters and we started following (and subscribed to) your channel after your reaction to the sacrilegious DIY violin. We followed the birth of Crispy from the unpacking to today ... its birth! We were all very excited when we heard its very first sound. We would like to have Crispy be a part of our family. It has such an exciting story behind it! You and Ash, who was essential in the making of Crispy (he entertained us big time. We love cats), did a marvelous job.
I want the violin! I used to play when I was younger and would love to get back into it as a much older person to show my daughter it's never too late to try and try again!
I want the violin! I want the violin! I want the violin! I want the violin! I am a 55-year-old professional symphony orchestra tuba player who would like to learn to play the fiddle pretty badly as I head toward my retirement. I have my own repair shop for brass instruments and have a deep appreciation for recycled instrument parts (Let them live again!), homebrew instruments, and people who build things with their own hands. I love woodworking but have never considered luthier work despite years of servicing stringed instruments, and your video series on Crispy has made me want to look into learning this craft, which is an extension into something I already do. I have a love for specialized hand tools, too. I play the upright bass on the side and would love to own my own carefully crafted violin, despite (or perhaps because of) the questionable origin of its parts. I think you did a wonderful job with this instrument. I love instruments like this. I am currently taking a nearly destroyed student tuba and creating a very nice professional instrument out of its parts. What I am doing with it, what you did with Crispy, is fascinating work for me. Perhaps I will use it to motivate me to build my own instrument, which would be a 17" viola for my chunky fingers. So… Pick me! Pick me! ;-) Seriously, sir, you did some excellent work on Crispy, turning dubious wood into something with a beautiful voice. You learned a lot in the process. What could be better than that? Stay healthy and virus-free. I will keep watching your videos. Cheers from Mississippi!
Thank you! And it's wonderful that you give a new life to instruments. That's probably 90% of what luthiers do, unless it's someone specialized in building new instruments /only/! The bread-and-butter of a violin shop is the low-cost rentals, and repairs. 😉
I want a violin! I don't know how to play one but love listening to it. I think it would be really great to have one for myself either to try learning or just decoration
I want the violin! Although I had violin lessons as a child, I'm not a musician -- I love listening to the violin, even if I'm not a player. Really though, I want this violin for my friend. She's an amazing violinist who recommended this channel to me, but unfortunately her address doesn't meet the rules for the giveaway. I would love to be able to forward the violin to her if I win it, as I am within the USA. Crispy is so beautiful, you did a wonderful job making it :)
Wow, Crispy sounds so beautiful!!!! Was really looking forward to the giveaway, kinda sad to be in New Zealand now, but I get it. I'm glad the result was so amazing
I want the violin! I am commenting on my son's behalf. He would greatly appreciate a new instrument like this, and put it to good use! He has been playing for about three and a half years now, and love the instrument. He originally tried to enter this giveaway, but asked me to do so due to the 18+ guideline.
I want the violin! I've always wanted to properly learn the violin. I also love how dark crispy turned out. I have a preference for darker woods in general so it looks amazing.
🎉 YOU WON!! 🎉 CONGRATULATIONS! 👍 Please contact me as soon as you can by e-mail at sculptyworks@gmail.com to claim the prize! I'll need you to write your TH-cam username, your legal name, confirm that you are 18 or over, and the address where you would like me to ship the violin to. 😊
Good luck to thoes entering, the Violin came out great! Its amazing how even relatively cheap DIY kits can come out great with care and attention to detail!
I'm amazed at what you have been able to accomplish with that kit. I am especially amazed at the finish. I have built several string instruments and I always had trouble with the finish. Thanks for sharing this video.
I want the violin! Yes, I know I'm more than 2 weeks from the contest, and it's been given away, but I just wanted to to tell you I wanted that violin! I've got many reasons for wanting it, but it's mostly because I've never played one but have always been interested in trying to learn. And it would have been awesome to own something that was basically a one of a kind! To whoever won this contest, CONGRATULATIONS to you!!!
I want the violin! It's been lovely seeing this little one grow up ^_^ and all the love and care that goes into making a violin. I've only been playing violin a few months, and I'm in love.
I want the violin! I have been watching Crispy's transformation from caterpillar to a beautiful butterfly and I would love to be able to enjoy Crispy's company. I dont own a violin nor have I ever even touched one but I have always wanted to learn. This would be an amazing opportunity since I don't I could buy a violin any time in the near future if ever. Crispy is beautiful! Thanks for taking us on this journey and for gifting the community!
I want the violin! It certainly counts as art. I've been playing for 24 years and this would look great next to my very distressed fake Sebastian Klotz violon.
i see why its $60 cause you have to do $500 of manual labour and you'd also need equipments of $1000. anyways i am happy that i got to see how it turned out in the end. so much of suspense, man!
I want the violin. I have played the violin for more than 4 years. I keep practicing music but would like to do more on the violin. I do not have one of my own. Nice to know about this. Thank you and stay safe ;)
I want the violin! I’ve been playing violin and cello since age 10! I’m a firm believer that all instruments have potential and music doesn’t have a price tag on it! I fully believe this violin will make great music and I would love to creat music on it!
I'm honestly really impressed! I knew that building a violin was difficult and demanded a lot of expertise, but I never imagined so much details. I'm a patient person, but I don't know if I'm that patient haha Sadly I can't participate, so good luck everyone! :)
I want the violin! Crispy reminds me of my 100+ year old piano. The antique-looking varnish is a near perfect match and my piano is also sometimes a bit of a diva about sounding nice. I enjoyed learning to play on my quirky old piano and I would love to learn to how to play the violin on Crispy.
I want the violin! I learned so much watching your series on building Crispy and I’ve been learning more about music since COVID happened. I would love a chance to learn a string instrument! Thanks for doing this!

Great video....thanks.....I do the same thing to cheap chinese guitars from a pawn shop......love making a
30.00 guitar into something that plays like a million bucks.
Great work!
lovely
But I do agree that it could be a fun project for some, like you described your own experience. 👍
Did you get any videos or recordings of it?
Thanks for the video and I only wish you could do one with a lot more info on the little things you were doing so I could learn more!😉
Wonderful work as always!
And Ash wanting to oversee your progress is so cute!
That's so kind to give it for free, and it looks awesome for a diy violin !
a luthier, a woodworker, has a wonderful cat and also a whovian! wow :)
I’m a cellist who’s now also learning the violin (fun fact: it’s actually rather easy to apply the knowledge from one instrument to the other, hundred times easier than starting from zero) and to be honest Crispy seems to have turned out very good quality for a $60 DIY kit!
awesome work!
long life to Crispy!
I want the violin! I’m a thirty-one year old beginner and love that I can finally learn to play.
Honestly though, I don't mind if I ever get a violin that has joined the dark side. Amazing work!
I want the violin! Ever since I was a child (many years ago), I have wanted to learn how to play the violin. I
was first introduced to the violin in the apartment complex that I lived in. Two sisters that I would see from
time to time to time would go off to their lesson and I was intrigued. That desire only got stronger as I grew
up and discovered classical music.
While I grew up, I never lost my love for classical music but, while my desire to learn the violin never
really went away, it did go to the back of my mind because it was never really practical because of a lack of
money for expensive activities like that. At one point in elementary school, I even joined the school band to
try to learn the violin (inspired by Lt. Cmd. Data from Star Trek) but to my disappointment the instrument was
already taken. I didn't stay in the band long after discovering that. From time to time in school, people
would come and give demonstrations of the violin and I just loved it even more.
Now that I am in my older age I finally have been able to start to learn music theory. Last year, I decided
that I am finally going to put my foot down and start to learn how to play music. Unfortunately, violins are
still expensive so I opted to ask for an inexpensive keyboard to start learning. It has been fun but I still
have that yearning to play the violin. I want to learn how to play the violin and feel that this is a great opportunity
to get started on my journey to learn how to play.
I would be honored to not only learn how to play Crispy but, also, display the violin that you put together
from a $60.00 kit. To be honest, I am glad that you did actually make a "happy accident" as I think Crispy
looks fantastically beautiful with the darker finish. I am glad that you took this challenge more seriously
than our friends at TwoSetViolin. This violin kit is a testament to your talent as a luthier. You took
something that was most likely bound for the trash heap and turned it into something that is not only visually
appealing but also sounds so beautiful.
On a side note, you are very lucky to be able to work with Ash. Ash is such a sweet cat. You are a very
fortunate man.
I want the violin!! I’ve been wanting to get back into playing the violin after I stopped playing in eighth grade and would absolutely love to have this one :D
From just a bunch of raw and trashy parts to a beautiful Violin, great job bringing her from a hideous duck to a beautiful swan 🦢
I'm amazed at how Crispy turned out! Incredible work, loved this series ❤️
Crispy turned out great! Good luck to all the people who are eligible for the giveaway.
Pick me! ;-)
Seriously, sir, you did some excellent work on Crispy, turning dubious wood into something with a beautiful voice.
i know nothing about making violins, but this small series of yours has been very interesting to watch!
I'm in NZ too
I want the violin!
Congrats on the violin!
🎉 YOU WON!! 🎉
CONGRATULATIONS! 👍
Please contact me as soon as you can by e-mail at sculptyworks@gmail.com to claim the prize! I'll need you to write your TH-cam username, your legal name, confirm that you are 18 or over, and the address where you would like me to ship the violin to. 😊
Girl, have you seen the news??! 😉
Congratulations you won the violin. I hope you will make a video titled "unboxing crispy"
@Killashandra Lane @Amanda Saunders violin girl yes please 🙏🙏🙏 we’re all jealous- I mean - happy for you 😉 I mean it in the best way 😃👏🏼👏🏼
I want the violin! Thanks for making such an amazing series!
I want the violin! I was just trying to learn how to clean my fiddle and ended up here
Good luck to thoes entering, the Violin came out great!
Hopefully we'll be able to do another giveaway in the future! 😊
I want the violin! I quite enjoyed watching Crispy grow up. And I love handmade objects.
I want the violin! It seems like it turned out much better than you thought it would at first!
I want the violin! I've played the violin since I was 9, though, just as a hobby , but I love this violin, dark violins have always been my favorite
I was waiting this video! I love all the details and dedication involved. Hermoso trabajo!
i see why its $60 cause you have to do $500 of manual labour and you'd also need equipments of $1000. anyways i am happy that i got to see how it turned out in the end. so much of suspense, man!
I want the violin. I have played the violin for more than 4 years. I keep practicing music but would like to do more on the violin. I do not have one of my own. Nice to know about this. Thank you and stay safe ;)
I want the violin! it's been ages since i've played, and money's always an issue getting back into it, so this is a great opportunity!
I'm a patient person, but I don't know if I'm that patient haha
Sadly I can't participate, so good luck everyone! :)
I want the violin!
Crispy reminds me of my 100+ year old piano. The antique-looking varnish is a near perfect match and my piano is also sometimes a bit of a diva about sounding nice. I enjoyed learning to play on my quirky old piano and I would love to learn to how to play the violin on Crispy.
throughly enjoyed crispy’s transformation journey. great work!
I want the violin! I learned so much watching your series on building Crispy and I’ve been learning more about music since COVID happened. I would love a chance to learn a string instrument! Thanks for doing this!
Only in USA??? You almost got a dislike..I love Crispy anyway, thumbs up!!!
Sorry, it's beyond my control. If I could, I would do the giveaway worldwide. 😥
Thanks for the thumbs-up, though! 😊
