  • © 1986 Braindchild Records. All music composed by Russ Freeman. Words can’t express how far this album goes back with me, it’s been with me since 1986, which was a great year for progressive jazz - this record paved the way for the Rippingtons later that same year, and set the standard for "smooth" jazz & fusion music for years to come. I bought this brand new on LP just days after it’s debut. Every track was featured on WQXI/94Q Jazz Flavours back during 1986-1987, my favorites being 1, 2, 4, 5. Russ was close to me in age (25ish) at the time he released this album, and has even contacted me and chatted with me about this LP over the years! Mostly all of the synthesizer leads you hear in this album are recorded with a Roland GR700 Guitar-Synth midi-controller. Definitely must-have for any fans of this musical genre from our favorite "era." ...Thanks Russ for all the memories!!

I just can't believe it's been 38 years since I put my first CD of their music in an Onkyo system with Bose speakers to hear this. It just seems like yesterday. Where did the time go???? I'm now 60 and still listening to this gorgeous music. It never gets old!

    THIS ALBUM...!!!
One of my first introductions to my beloved genre hybrid of smooth jazz. Russ and the Gang solidified '86 on being the year that changed Jazz forever with the inclusion of Kenny Gs Duotones premiering the same time. From owning my first mp3 device to my first smartphone, Russ and The Rippingtons (1986-1994 era) just flushed ALL anxiety off my back during my early 20s in the 2000s.
Funny enough, this album help me discovered Earl Klugh, John Klemmer, Yellowjackets, and Pat Metheny Group from the other hardhitters like Weather Group and Chick Corea. KJCMuzique...the one and only sharing this gem to remind us the smoother days of our lives!!! Once you start the Russ Freeman train, you know The Rippingtons is gonna roll on through! 🎷🎷🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈🐈

One of my favs for sure. I have listened it many times. I have always felt a lot of shudders listening this exceptional set of tracks. Mr. Jameson, you are one of the greatest exponent of nostalgic music which I adore. Thank you so much and don't stop your activity which is amazing and supportive for me and others.

I don't think a lot of people are giving the weather channel it's props for introducing people to smooth jazz, contemporary and or fusion art forms of jazz, they really need to be recognized for that....

Hi Kyle.😊 Thank you for sharing another brilliant album. This one has a special place in my heart. It truly set the stage for the Rippingtons 💎 gem "Moonlighting." "Nocturnal Playground" flows so seamlessly. Every track is special. There really was nothing like it at the time (particular favorites are "What She Really Wants;" "Amelia;" and the breezy, feel-good title track). Kudos to Russ Freeman and to you, Kyle. Blessings to you and all. Thank you for bringing this out of the vaults.
