I don't get the duct seal. I've heard of this elsewhere, too. It's messy. It's heavy. And it's expensive. It doesn't really stop lead all that well, and the lead it does stop will be virtually unrecoverable. Then there's the wood, which will be noisy and prone to warping and rotting. I'm going to try only mulch first, and only add a "safety layer" of something behind the mulch if I can get one to go through the mulch and the tote. I'll likely use composite lumber, or maybe a sheet of aluminum. Nothing on the sides (what is that doing other than adding weight?). So between the plastic tub, the rubber mulch and the composite/aluminum backing (only if necessary), the whole thing will be 100% water proof, even if it fills up with water. Mine will live outside, and I want it impervious to the elements. I've also seen others use metal clips to hold their targets. Not for me. Too much chance of a noisy hit or a ricochet. I'll just use masking tape, top and bottom, to keep the target totally flat and stable. Just my 2¢. That said, I do appreciate the thorough, detailed video. Good job. Who knows, if my version fails, I'll be back!
That is impractical imho.. That hard plastic lid getting peppered, noisy and shattering. You can toss a steel plate, then buy thick rubber blocks, stack em, and thats it. You can glue em together.
@@OriginalThisAndThat you are right, and I didn’t think it would be as brittle as it was so I actually cut out the centers of each one since I made this video
I did mine with just putting old laundry and towels in it made it light and quiet.
That’s actually a great idea. I may throw some clothes in there anyways online and it would make it just that much quieter.
Appreciate. I use layers of the thick, dense rubber door mats
Rubber mulch at garden store is fast and easy

Yeah $29 per 5lbs. That's crazy to spend $90 for backing.
