Wow! Another gorgeous design. I am so glad you figured this out and shared it with all of us. Mine is finished except for blocking, and I could not be happier with the result. I love that you find and share the most unusual, interesting, and sometimes vintage designs. Your video instructions are also so very well done and easy to follow along. Thank you, Raine! Love your work! ❤️
Hi, thank you for the tutorial!! I just finished mine and I love it. It took me a couple of times, I actually happen to use same Aunt Lydia thread (different color), with 1.5 mm hook and I ended up doing 3 loops in between instead of 4 and it worked out better, it came out perfectly straight. So thank you again!! ❤️
Hi from France, thank you for this wonderful tutorial BUT 3 times I try to make it with different cottons and hooks and I have the same issue, my work curls each time ; I've tried to crochet tighter than usual, used a lesser hook than needed for the cotton, but nothing works. An idea please ?
Thus is beautiful definitely going to try it. There is another one similar to the shell it looks like an S can you please to a tutorial on that one also
Thank you, have fun! Unfortunately I can't make a tutorial on S-shaped doily because it's a paid pattern, available on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fractal-2
Thank you! Yes, this one definitely curls more than others because we are making so many stitches on each round. You will need to block it to get it in nice flat shape! I hope this helps!
Hi Raine, that's a beautiful pattern. I tried doing it with 3ply cotton yarn using 3.5 mm hook. I have the issue of the doily curling. It doesn't lie flat.
Hi Kavi, yes it might be harder with thicker yarn to get it flat. My doily curled a lot while I was crocheting, I got it flat only after stretching and blocking.
Hi, it may be easier to crochet this one with finer thread and smaller hook. But you can experiment for sure! This doily does curl a lot, so that's normal. The finished doily needs to be blocked to get a nice flat shape. Check out the photos of my curly half-finished doily: handmadebyraine.com/how-to-crochet-seashell-doily/ Happy crocheting!
Hi, did you block your doily? handmadebyraine.com/how-to-crochet-seashell-doily/ "Helpful tip! The seashell doily doily tends to curl a lot while you are making it, it’s because of these many double crochet stitches. Don’t let it hold you back, keep crocheting and block your finished doily. I usually make it wet, stretch it out on blocking mat and pin it. I also use some spray starch to give it extra firm shape."

You could try to skip some dc stitches. But mine curled a lot too, until I stretched it out on blocking mats.

handmadebyraine thank you
Hi Summer, I’m at the same place you are. It is curling indeed. I have confidence it will iron out, or block as Raine suggests.
Thank you
Most welcome!
Can it be made bigger? What's your finished measurement?
Please see the details in video description box. You could use bigger size of thread to make it bigger.
what do u mean by blocking?
It means I make the doily wet, stretch it out on blocking mats, pin it and let it dry completely. Blocking gives the doily its pretty shape.
wow
Çok güzel 👌💕
Teşekkür ederim! 🙂
I made this using lydias crochet thread size 10 and mine don't lay flat. And it seems like it's really full and over laps. Help me PLEASE.
