Nice Picks James. I just picked up: A Brighter Summer Day, The Red Shoes, 3 Women, The Underground Railroad, Pale Flowers, and The Perfect Day (preordered).
Picked up: John Cassavetes Five films box, 4K Days of Heaven, 4K Videodrome, 4K uncut gems, 4K After hours, I am Cuba, War and Peace, Che , 4k Bound, 4K lone star
Nice pickups! Enjoy those titles. You’ve got some gems there. Videodrome is my favorite from Cronenberg and Days of Heaven is such a beautifully shot film.
These are the Criterion movies I got on July 50% off sale. for $532. To Die For, Thelma & Louise, The Roaring Twenties, La haine HATE, 100 Years of Olympic Films (Includes Tokyo Olympiad), Rebecca, David Lean Direct Noel Coward (4 movies: In Which We Serve, This Happy Breed, Blithe Spirit, Brief Encounter), My Own Private Idaho, Passion of Joan of Arc, The Heiress, Woman in the Dunes, Badlands, Targets, Romeo and Juliet, After Hours. Some others I found online for free so returned those (Anatomy of a Fall, Summertime on Hulu). 8 of these were cheaper or available on Amazon when out of stock on B&N.
Ken, that is the definition of epic haul! Wow! Lot of great titles there. I’ve seen most of them and can tell you that you’ve got some great material to watch for and while. Enjoy, and let us know what you think of the films.
TIP: Some titles are not in stock at either the Barnes & Noble website or at our local stores. Yet some of those are available at Amazon with the 50% price matching.
B&N replenishes pretty darned fast though. Blue Velvet went OOS on Day 1 of the sale but it was back in stock yesterday and I was able to order. And Amazon did not price match the 50% off on the 4K version. So I had to wait. A little patience is not a bad thing, especially when you have a whole month to buy them.
Thanks for the tip, Gary! Stock levels vary by store of course so good to know. Good to support B&N when possible to keep brick and mortar locations going 😀.
Hello, Jesse! I enjoyed Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid and look forward to sharing thoughts soon. I have not yet seen Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia so I’ll need to check that one out at some point.
@@20thand21stMovies im gonna b checking out your video when it drops. I haven’t picked up that release or seen reviews on the new release so your video will be the first I go and see. Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia kind of has an oppressive atmosphere throughout and it feels like a soul-crushing hangover. It’s my favorite Sam Peckinpah movie. It was made in the 70s. It’s unpredictable and raw.
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is one of my favorites! Particularly the final preview cut that comes on blu-ray. It's got a rough look but more authentic edit imo
I saw Beauty and Bloodshedd on my library channel. Amazing and sad documentary. You are in for a ride with Victims of Sin. Great noir Spanish film. I saw Blue Velvet but some of Lynch’s films start off linear than go way left 😄. Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid is one of my favorite westerns. Great pickups.
i got to see Days of Heaven at the Egyptian in Hollywood last December. amazing to see on big screen. been a fan of Dogfight since i saw it on cable back in early 90s. always loved the cinematography in it. nice pickups dude.
Great new treasures acquired, James. I am so grateful to have you as a guide, steering me towards films that I may have not known about or considered before hearing your thoughts. Happy 4th James and I hope you enjoy those great titles. One newer release I'm anxious to get is "The Runner". Based on the trailer and reviews, it looks like a great one.
So far I picked up To Die For and Wanda on Blu-ray. Days of Heaven is a great and beautiful film. I don't have a 4 k TV or player yet. But I am getting Picnic at Hanging Rock 4k to have it on all media formats including digital as I'm a big fan of this film.
@@20thand21stMovies I have heard the 4 k of Picnic Rock that the picture has been softened up with digital DNR and many people prefer the original look of the film. I love the film regardless.
Hello, Bryan! The Others is so good and I loved Dogfight when I saw it for the first time last week. Enjoy those pickups and the titles you get later in the sale. So many to choose from.
Hi James. Just want you to know as I'm watching the video, that when you move away from the mic, your voice gets much dimmer. It comes in nice and strong when you're right on top of the mic but when you pull back, it gets much softer. Anyway, enjoyed your pickups. I'm pretty sure I'm going to get Victims of Sin. And didn't know anything about anatomy of a fall and when you said it was a French movie, I went and looked at the trailer and now I want to get it very much. (Update: bought the DVD edition) And Pat Garrett, I think I'll get the blu ray edition. I'm not set up for 4K UHD.(Update-my B&N didn't have either Victim or Pat Garrett in stock) Also, am thinking of All that $ Can Buy. And lastly, I hadn't realized that Criterion has issued The Red, White and Blue Kiesslowski movies individuallly now, separate from the box. Interesting. Did you know that? Anyway, Happy 4th!
Hello, Paul! Thank you for the feedback on the audio. Much appreciated 😀. Yes, I saw the separate blu-ray releases of Red, White, and Blue which is a nice option. Enjoy the sale!

I just got 2 Swedish silent movies ( Haxan and Phantom Carriage), Onibaba, Kuroneko, High and Low ( this one bought from a guy who never opened the case). Oh, I forgot... Vampyr by Carl Dryer.
I didn’t pick up as much as I normally do since Kino had their sale starting at the same time. But I did get a good bunch. 4K I got Blue Velvet, La Haine, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid, Wings of Desire, Lone Star, Risky Business, Perfect Days, and The Roaring Twenties.
