To be clear to anyone watching this, at around 11:10 he says the tradeoff is latency/performance for eventual consistency. Make sure you interpret this correctly. Clients will still receive a response very fast, at the same speed as Strong consistency. This is because it is in their same geographical location, but it will simply be stale. Eventual consistency doesn't affect the latency/performance with regards to how quickly a client receives data as a response to their request. Rather, the tradeoff is that more clients will be reading stale data more of the time, when compared to eventual consistency. Especially for clients who read from the primary database.
The video is really helpful. Definitely beginners will get a good overview of cosmos db. I have one suggestion : Subtitles are coinciding with the few section of the screen so experienced challenge to view the screens.
Great tutorial. Could you also make a video on the Request Units and the Indexing policy of cosmos db and how indexing affects the performance and pricing?

Hey, at 13:29 you said that when bounded stateless is set to 0 it becomes strong consistency, but it would be eventual consistency right? As when the value is 0, we just get what is there at that database at the moment of query which is what eventual consistency is all about?
14:00 how is session consistency different from Eventual if the data being read from 2 different geographies isn't consistent at a given point in time?

Hello, I have a query. We need to bring oracle oltp data to cosmos db. What will be the best way as we need the data as soon as available. We wanted to use fivetran but it seems like it has not created connection to cosmos db.
At #13:20, the statement , If the staleness is set to 0 hr then its a strong consistency. What does that mean exactly. My doubt is even if the time is increased (to 3 hrs for eg), then also it is strong consistency, right - for a period of 3 hours ? But if its minimal (0 hr here) then the consistency period is also minimal ? Please clarify

Hi, when I try to open my azure cosmos db emulator it shows Unable to add firewall rule settings. Please restart the Azure Cosmos Emulator with/NOFirewall Option. How to solve this issue?
Question: For session consistency: you mentioned client who commits the new data will see the new data but other regions may see stale data until the replication is performed across all region. I thought session consistency is per client (ONE and only session which have committed data will see the update). If this is not the case, what is the difference between Session and Eventual? Thanks for the video!
I think it's bit late for reply but still, Session consistency ensures whatever is written will be current for reads from that session. Anything else will be accurate but delayed i.e monotonic reads within that client session itself

Hello, I have a query. We need to bring oracle oltp data to cosmos db. What will be the best way as we need the data as soon as available. We wanted to use fivetran but it seems like it has not created connection to cosmos db.
At #13:20, the statement , If the staleness is set to 0 hr then its a strong consistency. What does that mean exactly. My doubt is even if the time is increased (to 3 hrs for eg), then also it is strong consistency, right - for a period of 3 hours ? But if its minimal (0 hr here) then the consistency period is also minimal ? Please clarify

Hi, when I try to open my azure cosmos db emulator it shows Unable to add firewall rule settings. Please restart the Azure Cosmos Emulator with/NOFirewall Option.
How to solve this issue?
Question: For session consistency: you mentioned client who commits the new data will see the new data but other regions may see stale data until the replication is performed across all region. I thought session consistency is per client (ONE and only session which have committed data will see the update). If this is not the case, what is the difference between Session and Eventual? I think it's bit late for reply but still, Session consistency ensures whatever is written will be current for reads from that session. Anything else will be accurate but delayed i.e monotonic reads within that client session itself
