I never say that about a game but this one I absolutely will!
Looks great, certainly. It sucks there is no physical though. I’ll wait until it’s in discount for digital. Luckily, there’s a lot of masterpieces this year I’ve yet to play which also have physical versions. It’s been a great year for gaming. I should have waited for BG3 as there is going to be a PS5 physical version available in Japan.
I’ve only beat the first chapter, I really like the map it reminds me so much of Silent Hill, and I really like how it so far naturally highlights the secret areas by showing off landmarks that the main path doesn’t take you to.
I really like the fact that Alan's narration reminds me of the raven by edgar allan poe. A really classy touch done by the writers. I am severely impressed with the presentation of the story telling.
I'm playing now, and these are the best NPC animations, including facial animation, I've ever seen. Watching it on TH-cam doesn't quite do it justice, but even with compression and all, you can tell how amazing it is.
I LOVE the light and shadows of this game. The way you move your small beam through the darkness, wondering if every shadow is an enemy who will kill you

I'm 3 and a half hours in and LOVING it so far. I've been a huge fan of Remedy since the first Alan Wake, and it really feels like they brought their A game here. Love the storytelling. Love the atmosphere. Can't wait to keep playing it

This game is phenomenal.. tbh I never played the first one until a couple days ago bc I wanted to be caught up on the story. I knew this game was coming out but really didn’t think much of it. This is exactly my style of game. Survival horror with a great story. Gameplay feels similar to RE games which I love. This is next gen gaming.. absolutely gorgeous!

Not specifically him. Alex Casey written in Alan Wake's novels is a parallel to Max Payne. Not the same person but a variant from a different universe. Dillan Faden described it as one of his dreams in Control. He said a man named Mr. Door explained it to him; in one world a writer wrote books about a cop and in the other, the cop is real. Then he offered to spread the Hiss to these other worlds and Mr. Door didn't like it
It really is a seriously impressive game. Apart from The Last of Us, it immediately became one of my favourite games. The graphics, the detail, the story, the fact they've merged it with actual footage too, it all just makes this fantastic game. I love the fact you have 2 different stories, but that relate to each other. Wow. It's just a shame they made it digital only, I understand why. However, I feel if there was a disc version, a lot more people would have played it.
Remedy said they made it digital only because supposedly the majority of players now today have gone digital and because they said if they made it on disc too then that would have forced them to raise the price to $70 instead of $60 and they didn't want to do that

Oh man just got up to like chapter 2 to 3 and the game is sooo good. Usually I hate collecting stuff in games and get bogged down by the lore, but everything in this game is essential. Also enjoying Saga’s character. The actress did a good job. Enjoying her dynamic with Alex Casey. I finally made it to Alan’s part and it’s just getting even better
Ngl Alan’s part was a little underwhelming. Loved this game but it felt a little stretched out and almost felt like I was playing it just to get it over with and not to have fun at times. 9/10 game though, I see you remedy 👀!
@@brendougbake4958 It’s kinda weird. I sorta felt the same, but when I look back there were a lot of good sections as well like the musical, Hotel 665, Casey. For me what happened was I got too far at Saga’s section where it felt like a chore doing Alan’s section since you were basically playing catch up, but if you swap characters per chapter it then feels a little bit better during my second run
Only issue i have with this amazing game is that the Main characters are way too nonchalant at the start. I would've preferred if they panicked a lot more at the start and gradually got more use to the monsters.

Disagree completely - it doesn’t prove anything, It certainly helps, but there are plenty of masterpiece games where the graphics are ok or just good and are just as immersive if not more. I’ve been immersed in TOTK, BG3, AC6 etc and the graphics in all of those were just good but not amazing;y mind blowing like in Alan Wake. Hell, I got completely immersed in the FF pixel remasters this year with those retro graphics. Many rave about being immersed and engrossed in the 2d blasphemous games. You only need to look at games like Forspoken and Calisto Protocal to see that that graphics are not massively important. Callisto protocal had some of the best graphics I’ve seen, excellent sound effects atmosphere and voice acting and yet is a terrible game that most players and reviewers hated. That proves that you are wrong. Story and gameplay are more fundamentally important qualities in a game, and you can have those with average graphics and still have an immersive and enjoyable game.

That's very subjective. I used to get immersed in Mario Kart. Same with the original GTA. I'd lose myself for hours in those games. Graphics are secondary to gameplay imo. I guess it's all about how you define immersion.

Man these graphics are incredible. This particular game isn't up my alley, but I can't wait until more like this using next gen engines start coming out! Looks like even a 4090 will have a tough time at 4k.
4090 can handle it. Im playin on 1600p ultrawide with everything maxed, ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS frame generation on and am getting about 100-120 FPS. 4K you probably get 80-90 . Still very demanding game to run looks incredible though
I hope people these days experience this game the same way I experienced the first one years ago. Visually amazing (on 360 st the time) and insanely captivating story that isn’t just horror but psychologically scary.. I recommend no one watches any of the play through videos on TH-cam and simply plays the game for themselves!

I own it on the Series X, and it's still by far the most visually impressive game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The DLC is chef's kiss. I actually just picked it back up again recently to do the final draft playrhrough or whatever it's called
IDK about others but, in regards to you reading the articles, it helps when there are things to do in the home where I can't read them myself and I have the TV playing where you can be heard from the kitchen or just otherwise preoccupied bro. As far as video speed goes, we can always FF and skip past that. It's cool and it helps for longer videos. It's not a speed run ya know?

It certainly helps, but there are plenty of masterpiece games where the graphics are ok or just good and are just as immersive if not more. I’ve been immersed in TOTK, BG3, AC6 etc and the graphics in all of those were just good but not amazing;y mind blowing like in Alan Wake. Hell, I got completely immersed in the FF pixel remasters this year with those retro graphics. Many rave about being immersed and engrossed in the 2d blasphemous games.
You only need to look at games like Forspoken and Calisto Protocal to see that that graphics are not massively important. Callisto protocal had some of the best graphics I’ve seen, excellent sound effects atmosphere and voice acting and yet is a terrible game that most players and reviewers hated. That proves that you are wrong.
Story and gameplay are more fundamentally important qualities in a game, and you can have those with average graphics and still have an immersive and enjoyable game.

Sure. Graphics are not everything. I still play TF2, and it's old as hell.. But a stunning presentation can bring a lot of immersion, very important for a game like this.

Graphics can bring a lot to immersion, but they are not massively important as the OP said. I place more importance on gameplay and story. My imagination works just fine, though. Others may need more help.
As you also said there plenty of old games and even new which have simpler basic graphics and can be just as immersive and enjoyable. Undertale is another which has a huge fandom and is incredibly immersive and fun.
Edit - I can appreciate excellent graphics and they can add a lot to a game- but as Callisto shows, they are not so massively Important to make an immersive and fun game by themselves as the OP claimed.
That's very subjective. I used to get immersed in Mario Kart. Same with the original GTA. I'd lose myself for hours in those games. Graphics are secondary to gameplay imo.
I guess it's all about how you define immersion.

Man these graphics are incredible. This particular game isn't up my alley, but I can't wait until more like this using next gen engines start coming out! Looks like even a 4090 will have a tough time at 4k.
4090 can handle it. Im playin on 1600p ultrawide with everything maxed, ray tracing, path tracing, DLSS frame generation on and am getting about 100-120 FPS. 4K you probably get 80-90
. Still very demanding game to run looks incredible though

I hope people these days experience this game the same way I experienced the first one years ago. Visually amazing (on 360 st the time) and insanely captivating story that isn’t just horror but psychologically scary.. I recommend no one watches any of the play through videos on TH-cam and simply plays the game for themselves!

I own it on the Series X, and it's still by far the most visually impressive game I have ever had the pleasure of playing. The DLC is chef's kiss. I actually just picked it back up again recently to do the final draft playrhrough or whatever it's called

As far as video speed goes, we can always FF and skip past that. It's cool and it helps for longer videos. It's not a speed run ya know?

I'm still watching these parts but this is so cool. Alan Wake has another story of his. Something like the first game. He was working on another story and was making as you played the game/story. This on the other hand. The beginning is you. In his story but that's quite interesting. I'm sure you'll play him later but I like how they did this
