WOW. I didn’t know there were so much types of the first ABC logo! Some are just filled in triangles with text, others being the official logo. Great finds, and great video!
@@JontyMaster Yeah, it was really nice, you’re my favourite logo history channel! And I didn’t know that Associated Rediffusion was revived in the late 90s-present, it was surprising. And yes, they still use it to this day as I saw a logo from 2021 earlier!
The full name of ABC was Associated British Cinemas (Television), two years before her merging with Rediffusion London it changed the "C" signification (from Cinemas to Corporation) until the selling of ABPC to Thorn EMI in 1972 Oh wow, Associated-Rediffusion is back as an independent production company!

Hoping someone reading this can help. I used to have nightmares from the credits of Route 66 and Big G - which was the rename in the UK of a programme originally called Empire in the US ! I thought I was 4 at the time but found out in April I was not quite 3! There was a scene that used to appear at the end of the credits of both programmes, I think with a shouty word. A long word was displayed at the bottom of the screen and I think a man, woman and dog crossing the road left to right of the screen diagonally above! I remembered the theme tune of Route 66 and the advert break picture for Big G! I think Big G was shouted out at the beginning of the programme! Too young to remember the actual programmes! But I would like to face what frightened me! Thanks to TH-cam have been able to face other credits, tunes on shows that gave me nightmares! Would appreciate any enlightenment on the startling extra end credit above! Was it only in the UK or only for a while?! Was it connected to Associated Rediffusion?! Or were these programmes distributed to Associated Rediffusion with this scene?! Also would really appreciate seeing opening and closing credits for Big G as it was in the UK! Have already messaged the people who have put Empire on TH-cam about these! But if anyone can help on this also, it wd be fantastic!
What is the ABC credit at 5.07/5.08 with dark picture of house doors?! Also the Associated Rediffusion credit at 8.22, to 8.24 after the arrow and directed by Geoffrey Hughes? And the Association Rediffusion credit at 8.31 to 8.34 with the car bonnet in the background of the words and the guy up on a platform with the camera? Also interested in what the ABC credits are at 2.08/2.09 and the swinging pendulum one at 2.16 and 2.17 or slightly before! Any light you can shed on what any of the programmes were that these credits for would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
I like all of these idents, but my most favourites would probably be the 2nd ident for ABC (UK, not to be confused with the American television network) and the 2nd ident for Rediffusion London.
I remember it well in 1960 though it originally started in 1955 and renamed YTV ( Yorkshire Television in 1971, nowadays it's simply intitled ITV and it sister Channels ITV2, ITV3, ITV4, ITVX and ITVBE.
? YTV won the July 1968 ITV franchise award to cover Yorkshire-primarily that area covered by Granada (Mon-Fri) and ABC (Sat and Sunday) since 1956 - ie the huge sweep Lancs-Yorks in the North. I have read, though, that many ABC staff transferred from the Didsbury, Manchester studios to the new YTV studios in Leeds in ‘68 Many of us so miss the regional ITV companies.

3:30 A rare color version!
Never knew there where 2 ABCs
1. American Broadcasting Company
2. Associated British Corporation
The full name of ABC was Associated British Cinemas (Television), two years before her merging with Rediffusion London it changed the "C" signification (from Cinemas to Corporation) until the selling of ABPC to Thorn EMI in 1972
Oh wow, Associated-Rediffusion is back as an independent production company!
That was part of the merge between Redifussion and ABC to form the world known Thames Television
Rediffusion and Thames are now the only surviving ITV regional brands, as in they’re now independent / from a different company.

ABC and Rediffusion merged to become Thames TV.
@@trevordance5181 and I made my own channel MM-TV which merges Disney Channel and MTV
