I love this. I did one semester of mandatory performance credit for my minor and chose Brazillian Percussion. That was hands down the most fun I ever had playing percussin (I'm a guitarist). Trust me, it is so loud, I wore drummers ear plugs.

I'm American, with Irish/German ancestors. I learned Brazilian percussion 35 years ago. I play the surdo, the agogo bells, cuíca, and ganzá. But my principal instruments were the surdo and agogo bells. I LOVE Batucada Samba!! I was in a Batucada Samba band for 10 years. My husband and I would love to go to Carnival.

I am fascinated how segregated Brasil is. A music that comes from one group played by another group and you see no remnants of people from that group considering about 100 million of Brasil is of Afro decent. WEIRD!!
Ok storytime In music class today we where learning how to do this so we all got the shakers gogo bells and the drums, everyone was going CRAZY with everything (my ears are super sensitive along with my body in general) I started CRYING. I couldn't handle the noise so I had to get private lessons AND I AIN'T KIDDING my heart is aching from it. So.....that's nice
What is the use of powerful musical drums on street? 1. Removes negative energy from streets 2. Mind change from dull to active 3. Builds self-confidence 4. Relief stress 5. Positive thinking 6. Controls mind to normal state 7. Prevents premature death (removing secondary soul) 8. Also cures mild fever due to self-body control 9. Increases social friendliness among each other 10. Unity among public 11. Activates third eye (pineal gland) 12. Improves activity of brain to do some stuff by releasing harmones when your not able to do so
here in brasil this is called "ollodum", samba is faster and it's played w different kinds of drums and instruments, and it sounds way more festive and shit

In France, we have really good brass bands, and honestly, we have a culture of partying and marching street music, but damn, these Brazilian batucada blow us away ! I'm the shy type, not very comfortable when it comes to dancing in public, but when it's the world music day and batucada emerge in the streets of Paris, I just can't help but lose myself ! I study biology, and I can tell you, if life were a music, it would be a batucada. Obrigado ao Brasil por nos lembrar como viver ! Nós amamos vocês ! 🇫🇷❤🇧🇷
They play samba reggae. And if you cannot make the difference between samba (Rio) and samba reggae (Salvador), look at the surdos and repiques. They play thoses instruments with 2 sticks, which is the samba reggae technique. On samba, repique and surdo are played with one stick and the other hand free. Anyway they play a very good samba reggae.
This is in no way in my opinion Samba Brasil, this is all over the place. This is part of my culture, that guy just made a complete fool out of himeself and culture.
