I am so thankful I saw this before I had my string changed, because I just went to a 3/16” from a 1/4” and is a world of difference. I use a Spot Hogg Fast Eddie XL and the MRT rings perfectly match up nw and there’s no question about the improved accuracy. Good to go, and thank you on the tip, channel is awesome, 👍🏹🦌
9:00 the word you are looking for is parallax. Precision / varmint rifle scopes have am adjustment for this to keep the crosshairs in focus at high magnification. In target shooting and varmint hunting you expect to be shooting at a variety of distances so having an adjustment for this is a big deal.
One archery pet peeve of mine is that the tweener, Goldilocks perfect size for me is 7/32", but hardest to find in local shops. Cabela's and BPS only carry 3/16" and 1/4".
@Inside Out Precision, another great video. I'm sick at home with COVID with more free time than usual and I've been going through hours of your videos. This is really well timed because I am going to buy my first brand new bow. I've only ever bought used bows so now I have to research what peep, stabilizer, sight and arrows I want to match up with this new bow. Your videos have been hugely educational. Thank you!
Verifiers, been using for a few years. Biggest problem when hunting was trash/dirt and water drops and occasionally fogging. Took them out this year. They reduce the size of the aperture when installed in the 1/4" housing so you still end up using a 3/16ths" peep effectively.
The Serveless Peep It peep sight is awesome. Installs in 30 seconds, no tie in, no risk of string burn/melt, doesn't move under brace tension, easy to tweak adjust with portable bow press, and adjustable for rotation by micro moving it up or down, comes in many diameters including my preferred 7/32".
@@InsideOutPrecision Thanks for the tip/advice. The material is more abrasive that a standard aluminum peep. I pressed the bow, applied a generous amount of wax on the underlying string, and will keep an eye on it. I could see how trying to force adjust it by sliding it at brace under tension could cause string abrasion, so I will only make adjustments after pressing the bow.
I just switched to a black gold dual track that has a smaller housing than my previous sight and there's definitely a fair amount of daylight around the sight. I have to center the sight within the peep but I'll probably get a different size at some point.
Can I add that you should do your research regarding peep brands. A couple out there have a bad reputation for sharp edges that cut strings. I bought a TruGlo Versa with the interchangable inserts. Seemed like a great idea as I wasn't too sure exactly what size peep I needed. Worked really well until I drew my bow one day and it blew up in my hands. Plenty of info out there on forums

Thx for the video's, learned a lot! I just started out with a compound after years of shooting traditional, can you demonstrate or explain what i have to see or how to alligne the peep with the sight and the pins? Do i center the pin in the middle of my peep, or the ring of the sight centered in the peep and the pin on the target or how? Thx for the help!
Hey Kellen, at the end of the giddy you suggest that the peep appears smaller outdoors due to glare, when it is your pupil constricting from the brighter natural light, and indoors the pupil expands or dilation makes the peep look smaller.
The reason why the scope will have more ot less daylight around it based on whether you are indoors or outdoors has nothing to do with glare. This is happening because the size of your eye pupil is changing due to the amount of light you have indoors or outdoors. When outdoors for example your pupil constricts and this decroeases your field of view immediately in front of the eye whre is the second aperture of this optical assembly.
my sight housing is a Axcel Hunting Slider Sight ArmorTech Lite Fixed Mount 1.6 inch Scope an my bow is a Bowtech SS34 the peep Sight is a 5/32" and still I don't have a full view of the scope! what should I do?
Might be bit late here, but how do pro shops guess which peep size to use? Is there a chart or whatever that everybody needs lol? or is it just a trial and error and the pro shops just give you a baseline to start?
What has been your experience with the peep sight cutting into the bow string. I just had that happen and now having to wait for new custom string but was interested to hear your take on Hamskea raptor hooded peep?
Which bow do you use for hunting? And which one for target? Thanx in avance, and congrats for tour amazing work at all those really helpfull vídeos :) .
I have poor sight but at 15 yards I can see the target clear but pin is fuzzy with 1/4in peep, I bought a 6x lens for my hha ol-5019, now the target is a little blurred from magnification and the pin is still fuzzy but I can see target rings at 30 yds fine just blurry, any suggestions for hunting
Hi. When drawn, I can't see the entire sight in my peep. If I move my head towards the peep, then yeah, I can see the shiny ring of the sight but that is not a natural position for my head. I already moved the peep down the string towards the D loop. It is now perfectly aligned with the center of the sight. I can shoot quite accurate but only using the center pin as I don't see the others. Do I need a larger peep? Or am doing something wrong? This is the Topint M1 bow which has very short ATA and I am a big boy with 30-31 inch draw.
If the peep is at eye level and you still can't see all of your sight, it sounds like either: - The peep is rotated (e.g. not pointing straight forward/back) - The sight is too close (if you have a dovetail mount, move it further foward) - Peep sight is too small
Great vid had same issue this year on new setup ran a different sight than what I normally run 1 5/8 so new sight advertise as 1 5/8 but was more like 1 3/4 and had to go up from 3/16 to 1/4 I wish sight companies would give actual sizes so from now on I will be measuring sight's before installing peep
Hello, I plan on running a Black Gold Pro 3 pin with the pro X frame and a Hamskea raptor peep but not sure which size to pick. I have a 29” draw, what would you suggest? Thanks
I have the Specialty Archery 1/4" hooded peep. I started with a verifier. Now with a 2x or 6x scope lens a clarifier was needed to sharpen the blurry target. The retailer did not stock the lower power clarifiers, so I'm back on the hunt. Currently the silver verifier is in and the 2x lens.

I am struggling with my peep at the moment and I’m not sure if it’s just me with my short draw length or what. Currently I have a 3/16 peep. I moved my sight in closer to help with peep alignment but there is still room around my scope it’s not a perfect eclipse. When it’s darker like in the woods or a poorly lit indoor range my peep almost disappears ! I just can see a fuzzy black blur no clear lines. I have a 25,5 inch draw length and 30’’ ata bow so my peep is pretty close to my eye. Would going to a 1/8th peep help with this ?
Inddors, your peep will pretty much always look somewhat blurry and a bit larger than when you're outdoors. It's just due to the lighting and amount of glare the coming through the peep. I think going to an 1/8" would be fine.

Every competitive iron sight rifle shooter will disagree with your take here. You do not want your peep to just eclipse the sight housing. You want some moderate gap though not huge. Your brain can see the change in that gap easier than in a perfect eclipse.

To each their own. But you won't see a competitive shooter on the planet who doesn't use a peep sight because you'reless accurate without one, plain and simple.. I've never had an issue in low light situations. But hey if no peep works for you, then right on! I'm not one to judge
