    This video is part of a 2-video set featuring the NEMO Omen 300wm
    Series 1:
    Part 1: Overview of the firearm including design detail, function and features
    Part 2: Disassembly and review of key internal features
    UNFORTUNATELY the owner sold the firearm while it was in my possession and I had to quickly send it back before I had an opportunity to take it to a range and do a shooting video.
    Series 2: TBD when I get my hands on another Nemo Omen.
    Thanks for tuning in! Lots more coming. I would appreciate your subscription as I hope to improve the level of content as the channel grows.
    Correction Section:
    *The Nemo Omen was not the first semi auto AR style rifle to be chambered in 300wm. Noreen was the first company to do this with their rifle released in 2010. That was an external piston gun however, so the Nemo was the first direct gas impingement rifle in 300wm.
    ~5:00 I refer to the 300wm as being "7.62x68or69". It is actually 7.62x67mm
    Nemo Omen Technical Specs:
    - Calibre: .300wm (7.62x67mm)
    - Operating: Locked, rotating bolt, direct impingement gas system
    - Modes of fire: Semi auto only
    - Magazine Capacity: 14 (only 5 in Canada due to restrictive magazine limit laws)
    - Sights: Elcan Spectre TR 1x 3x 9x
    - Barrel Length: 18" // mm
    - Barrel Twist:
    - Overall Length min/max:
    - Weight:
    - Muzzle Device: factory 2 Chamber muzzle brake
    The Nemo Omen is currently classed as an AR15 variant in Canada. I don't believe that is correct as it is a very unique design, but nonetheless that is currently where it is and as such is automatically deemed a restricted firearm regardless of barrel length. It requires a RPAL to possess and in addition to being registered in a federal database, has additional storage, transport, sale, and discharge restrictions.

    Would you ever consider doing a video talking about the gun laws up in Canada? I know you can search them up, but I feel like most articles you can read miss out on the intricacies. It’d be interesting to be able to compare laws in the US to the laws up there! Also great vid as always!

    Loving that color on your POF P308, I am a POF fan for sure I own a P308 edge, a renegade plus 10.5" in .300 blk, and a p415 10.5".......IDK if you saw but POF just came out with a .22lr PCC on their website called the rebel. Looks kinda cool i might grab one for my son.

    Idk I would want the 300 win mag for long distance, id want the 24 inch for the velocity. You lose a lot when you chop 6” off the barrel.

  • @RB-xv4si
    @RB-xv4si 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice rifle but man, 18” is really short for a 300 win mag barrel. What’s the typical velocity reduction your friend is seeing compared to say a 24” barrel?

  • @BadazzShovelhead
    @BadazzShovelhead ปีที่แล้ว

    I have the Watchmen with the 24" barrel. It is a fantastic rifle. I hate to sound like an Elmer but aside from some very specific use cases I don't see a use case for the 18 inch barrel- You are leaving some power on the round behind 300 win mag definitely needs a bit of barrel to make full use of the round. I am hoping Omen does a 300PRC upper as that does better in my other rifles and I think the military is going to transition to that over the 300 winmag which burns barrels pretty quick. Running this supressed is great- You don't get gassed out due to the type of BCG set up and recoil is really very low compared to my 300wm bolt gun with heavy barrel. Question how do you use the Spectre on it since that to my knowledge is a 5.56 and the 7.62 I don't know of a BDC for 300wm

    This is not "the first AR platform " that used .300 winmag round. Noreen out of Montana did it much earlier, and still makes them. These guys are just much better marketers.

    • @armandgun

    This is quite punchy. I belive that it is quite 'useless' too. Is is really cool but quite 'useless'. The problem with this kind of system is that it lacks in endurance, mobility and firepower. But, it is more 'effective' in certain way. If you can see so far and can hit this platform can be a good alternative. But, for this employment the bolt action accuracy seens more suitable. The question is that we do not need much to disable a human that is our most military conventional treat.
    The hability to sustein accurate shots seens a quite important feature for this philosophy of gun employment. It is quite a very specific field of operation. For short high intense fighting this could be too an option because of high penetration. But now we have to verify the possibilities of achieving more pentration changing the ammos of conventional calibers. So it should be part of a more complex study.
    The gun is quite interesting. But, regardless to the ammo offer I think that that 50 is more desirable, more applicable.
    So, in comparison this is kind of a mid range that really do not get the point. It is, at least, my point of view. Again, the 338 that is too a mid range but not so, still seens to call for bolt action accuracy to be well employed and mitigate its cost in endurance and firepower, ammo capacity and so on. 300 do not seens compensate for being out of standard.
    Would like to see some evaluation from you about these issues.

    • @armandgun
      @armandgun  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a very interesting and pragmatic way to approach the firearm. I like the way you thought that. You’re looking for the philosophy of use on the firearm. I agree, a lot of these designs spawned out of the ‘because we can’ and ‘bigger is better’ mentality.
      I do really enjoy this thought process and may look at doing POU segments for some of these in future overviews.
      Thanks for the feedback and suggestion!

      Really, it would be very interesting. Who love guns loves about all of them. But, the mass applications sets the game in the whole majority of cases. Because, this combinations have more sense and tend to prove more efficient.
      It is kind of a science and an art that combines theories and practice and evolves with time.
