  • In this video, I give a full tutorial of a faux smocked applique design using a brother 10 needle machine. I include basic hooping and supplies needed using both fast frames and mighty hoops for children's shirts. I also show you what NOT to do, ooops, mistakes! There's also a very quick little surprise helper in a clip, can you find her? ;)

If you are new here, I am Ashley and I operate TWO Etsy embroidery shops full time from my home studio. Over 3 years ago, I traded in my RN job and stethoscope to stay home and operate my businesses full time when I could no longer keep up with both! Now I have a beautiful little girl at home with me (and another baby on the way) that keeps me busy alongside my shops.

Good tip on ironing down the fabric after the tack down and before you do the actual design. Also - love that you showed us the mistakes and that you don't have to hoop with the garment right side up.

I hope it helps! Mine are the PR1000e, but I do not think they changed much between them.

Do you preshrink your polymesh stabilizer from Allstitch? I am trying to find one that doesn’t shrink.

I do not preshrink mine from Allstitch. I have very little issue with it shrinking like other brands.

What can’t I find your kid stuff Etsy shop? 🥴

You really waste a lot of stabilizer and spend a lot of time. Get a 5x5 magnetic hoop with stabilizer frame for small sizes. The tear away is so stiff you would be better off sliding a smaller piece under before stitching.
