My Brother. Thank you again. I am going to shed out on this. I appreciate your openness to share your knowledge. A lot of players who know this stuff act like it is top secret. I have a lot of work to do. Thank you.
Thanks for the fingering techniques, have recently went back to playing tenor after 12yrs not playing a tenor, I was playing alto and soprano. I really appreciate and have a lot more fun after watching you teach tenor sax altissimo!
Really cool sound. What sax model, neck, mouthpiece, reed, reed size and ligature do you use? What is the mechanism to the left of your G# key? What foundations should a play have prior to attempting Altissimo? Ie. Overtones through 4th overtone, 6th overtone 10th???
Awesome! I recently took out my Tenor and I'm enjoying playing again. I'm a little lost on the overtones though. A friend of mine is Sax instructor and pointed me to the Sinta and the Rouseau books on Voicing. Can you do a video on those basics? Thank you!
Hello Mister, you are amazing sax player!!! I have a question....Do you know how to growl in tenor sax? would you mind making a how to video ? I really appreciate. Congratulations!!
Mario Quijada The standard technique for growling is to "sing" or scream into the horn while playing. It doesn't take a lot of effort to get the desired effect. Be careful not to sing the note your playing or you won't have the dissonance. :)
I have the 3 basic fingerings for "A"{all with the octave key}. 2-3 4-5-6 (like middle "D" with the 1st finger up) also 3 (the third finger) by itself. and last , Open C# overblows to altissimo "A". If you're getting a middle "C", your embouchure might be too relaxed or your reeds might be too soft. I hope this helps and Good Luck!!
I would recommend trying a friend's sax or even trying one in the music store to see if its the horn or if its you. Any tenor sax will do. Also while you're there, try some different mouthpieces. What sax brand is it?
The Dark Amber Lacquer for sure. After 2 years it still looks new. I liked the Brute but I will never own another unlacqered sax ever again. That thing was almost unsellable after two years because it continued to "patina". Plus, I work in a super high humidity environment so it made it that much worse. Keilwerth uses a patina seal on their unlacquered horns which prevents this from happening.
You give a lot of good information, however you talk very fast, and you don't give a chart a visible chart that an old guy like me that doesn't hear real well or see real well can see and View and know how to play the things that you're saying could you maybe slow down just a little bit and put some charts up? I'd love to get the information you're giving out.

The fingering on my tenor for the A doesnt work. Instead , it plays a middle c

Sirvalorsax what do you mean by my reed being to soft. Also is there a specific reed i should use. Im using a 3 1/2 rico royal tenor reed
What mouthpiece?
Sirvalorsax I don’t know. It just came with my tenor when I bought it. Sorry

What’s the horn you use
Cannonball Vintage Reborn w/dark amber lacquer
Ooops, but for this video it's the Brute
Sirvalorsax which of those two would you prefer

Living proof: You can make a tenor go higher, but you can't make an alto go lower. If you gotta pick one horn for whatever reason?
LOL
You must be on a cruise ship. :)
BINGO! LOL
