How a D1 Strength Coach Teaches the L Drill

  • First and foremost, THANK YOU to Taji Johnson for helping me with the demo for this video. Especially, considering it had been a few months since we had really practiced Combine Drills and he was no doubt a little bit rusty.
    The L Drill is a change-of-direction drill that is used at the NFL Combine as well as many combines, try-outs and showcases at the college and high school level.
    Obviously, being a great athlete who can get in and out of cuts, change direction and bend and run will do well at this drill. However, there is more technique to this drill than one might think. By eliminating unnecessary steps and maximizing efficiency, you can lower your time by a considerable amount in this drill.
    In this video, I break down how I teach the drill and important tips and coaching points that I believe are the most important to focus on for improving your time.
