    No Karen, good parents don't cater to the whims of a child. They provide guidance and boundaries. They are your parents not your friend.
    And show me that kind of disrespect under my own roof, I'll be calling CPS and tell them to come pick you up. You don't live here anymore, so enjoy foster care.

    This story is one of the rare occasions I think everyone's wrong, Karen is of course she's cruel, materialistic, manipulative and physically abusive and he knows shes prone to violence but her dad knows that he never put his foot down and actually punished her behaviour, his daughter who makes it so clear she doesn't like or want kids ignores that and thinks a baby will make her a better person even after she tells him she's been acting the whole time
    And Chris doesn't even love her he just likes to be the man who can say saved her and plans to marry her because of that that's such an unhealthy way to start and maintain a relationship

    • @paulwarner5674
      @paulwarner5674 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

      Well said.
      Bad parenting lead to Karen's entitlement.
      Even to the end of the story Dad was still comparing his daughters as though every child should fit a mould.
      Karen chose Chris because he was weak.
      And obviously with her narcissistic personality it was wrong to leave her with a baby in the first place . Social services and the police should have been made aware of her abuse to Chris. Before the baby was born.

  • @TiffWaffles
    @TiffWaffles 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    Can we get Meg's perspective of her childhood and the abuse and other issues she had to endure at the hands of her sister? I do like listening to the parent's perspective here, but I think it would be a lot more relatable for people who have abusive siblings to listen to a character who had to go through the same thing they had to. Even if it is a fictional character. From the sounds of things, Meg literally ran away from home the moment she was legally able to and has gone low contact with her parents who she'd view as enablers of her sister's abuse.
    I just feel that Meg's perspective would be more interesting and would provide a lot more insight on what her sister is like.

    She needed psychological help at a very young age. I don’t know if it would have helped but she needed something. It was her parent’s responsibility to protect her from herself and to protect their other daughter from her. I also think it was crazy to lock her in her room like an animal. I get that the father was at his wits end and didn’t know what else to do. But it was super cringy to set his other daughter up with Karen’s ex. That’s just asking for trouble.

    • @TiffWaffles
      @TiffWaffles 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I have a violent and abusive sister and she was getting help through family and child services, including psychological help and she still was violent and abusive towards us. Yeah, and setting up Meg with his other daughter's ex is horrible. Meg most definitely doesn't want a relationship with her sister given the abuse she was probably subjected to by this person, but can you imagine how terrible things would be between them now that Meg is with the ex partner.
      I would be interested in listening to a POV by Meg of what she had to go through while she was living at home with her sister. It seems that the moment she was eighteen she fled the home and only had minimal contact with her parents until they finally did something about Karen. It's going to be triggering for me, but I would love to listen to a story one day through Meg's perspective.

      @@SzaraWilk I understand that, and having a wild child is not easy. But you can’t chance a personality. The term that her boyfriend should have her “under control” makes me cringe. And he didn’t in the end. She had a violent streak from the start, and you need other interventions than just being a strict parent. You can try, and imo they did it all wrong. The father is so interfering in her, even as an adult. If she was smart, she would just have lied about her whereabouts as a teen. But she had a sociopathic treat. You can’t change that. And despite these stories, most people change a whole lot from teen do adult. People tend to get their stuff together when they grow up. Not all tho.
      She was probably a lost cause from the start, she didn’t get the right interference from outside, like the school or a public system. She was probably born narcissistic.
      When it comes to child rearing, I guess there is much different in my country (I guess this is US). We let our infants sleep outside in their strollers because we think it’s healthy for them. Our kids are more independent from early on, because both parents normally work. They have to do things independently. Like take public transportation to school and whatever they do in their free time. From the age of 16 parents can no longer have access to their children’s passwords, bank accounts and health care information. Of course they don’t have the same rights as an 18 y old. They are expected to be somewhat independent. It’s the law. And their social media. That’s more worrying for me. But then I live in a very safe place, and mostly kids are safe.

  • @TiffWaffles
    @TiffWaffles 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

    As much as I hate saying this, but I need to say it. Karen's parents failed her. Both of them did. We had a mother who was absent for most of the time since she was away at business. We have a father that seems to be abusive. HE PUT BARS ON HIS DAUGHTER'S DOOR FOR FS! Not only is that dangerous but what message does that really send to a child? He verbally belittles her, is not supportive of her- both parents should have put Karen into anger management and to see a mental health professional.
    Seems to me that Karen has some kind of personality disorder like BPD (borderline personality disorder) or even something like bipolar. She should have been getting support as soon as she started exhibiting signs of her anger. Both parents chose to ignore it by claiming that her anger was normal.
    I feel terrible for Chris here. Karen is definitely a lost cause, but I feel like she was a lost cause for years due to her parents neglecting to help her when she was a child. I hope that in time, Karen gets the help she needs to control her anger. While there's no treatment for mental health illnesses like BPD, she can see a therapist to help find healthy coping mechanisms to control that anger... but now that Karen is an adult, the only one that can get help for herself is her.

    Please don't sexualize clothing. It's a way of self expression not a statement of sexuality. Now, that said... do we know how old Karen is at the start of this video? Sometimes I get the feeling that she's between fifteen to seventeen years old, but sometimes I get the feeling that she's an adult. However, it seems she's a minor at the start.
    Is there a possibility that something happened to Karen where she's acting out like this? I knew so many girls in high school that were victims of sexual assault and abuse, and some of them acted out like this. One of my classmates was sexually assaulted at a Halloween party that was hosted on one of our mutual friend's family farm. She went from being a quiet, academically gifted girl to somebody who was a shell of herself, and she acted out until finally she couldn't handle it anymore and she attempted suicide inside the girl's washroom at school.
    Not saying that anything happened to Karen or to excuse her behaviour if somebody bad happened to her. Sometimes kids just turn out rotten, no matter how great their parents are. I sadly know several people from my childhood who turned out to be bad. These people grew up to be criminals. One girl grew up with loving parents only to become a terror when she became an adult. The last straw for her family came when she killed a woman after she brutally assaulted her. Last I heard, this person is now living on the street and no one wants anything to do with her.
    OMG, KAREN THREW A CHAIR THROUGH HER BEDROOM WINDOW BECAUSE SHE WAS ANGRY!?!?! This girl needs help. She needs anger management.

    This is story was all kinds of sexist, we tell our daughters we can't change a man Hell I'm sure every woman reading my comment has heard from another woman to not change a man, but to listen to this man tell this woman's father that he could change her! Also, the father isn't so good bc he told his daughter to pretend everyone except Meg was horrible in this story. First off no child I have to care for will be putting holes in my wall before me putting thier head through it! Second no child will terrorize my other child and it won't be known the moment you hurt my child, there are severe consequences not only is in not ok I would have put my other child through the Juvenile system. And lastly, I would have locked them up or kicked them out of my home for everything that girl has done and told her come back when she realized I was right, period!!!

      I didn't appreciate how people sexualize girl/women's clothing. You don't see boys and men being sexualized because of the clothes they wear... and that's just one issue I have.
      Also, I have told plenty of my friends, my sisters, and my own mother that you can't change a man. If a man is treating you badly, get out of the relationship because you definitely can't change it. Also, don't put people's heads through walls. That's one way you're going to get arrested for assault, especially if it's a child/teen.

      @SzaraWilk This story is sexist because if women can't change a man. A man can't change a woman. People can only bring the best or worst out of you. To change is because it is a self motivating factor as well as to become better versions of ourselves because someone loves us, but it will always remain a willful desire to do so on our own. This story reminded me, never tell or accept someone who is pretending to be something that they are not, second your children need to be held accountable for thier own actions and decisions, if they are saying things you know that you and spouse didn't pass to them sometimes you have to let the world teach them. Finally, our sons need to be reminded not to change themselves for a woman or change a woman of bad morals. Changing anyone is not anyone responsibility

      @TiffWaffles I personally think it's OK for a young woman to feel confident in what she wears, however I do agree there are certain places where attire is designed appropriately for such places depending on the forum and if you're strong willed mentally to handle yourself with men who take lack of clothing as consent. I mean going out clubbing, or to the beach, or some place of young adults gathering whatever, but if you're going on a date with a potential partner, that should be self discretion, my opinion 😉

She was quick as a striking snake and strong enough to take me down and keep me there lol. In the middle of all this it struck me as hilarious and I started laughing. Incredulous, she froze for a split second then laughed with me until we both were wheezing and crying lol. We got up, sat down at the table and started really talking, listening to each other’s pov for probably the first time ever. I was 15, and we never fought like that again. It might just be me, but I'm upset with her not being brought up on charges for abusing her husband. I can understand that it happens, but it's very aggravating at the end of an hour long video. She never should've gotten the chance to abuse that child in the first place. But I guess assault is only seen as assault when it's a woman being attacked, huh? Whatever.

    Wtf was this story? Parents don't try to stop or remedy their daughter's behavior, so she grows into a monster? And some very stupid guy tried to change her, gets ABUSED, and then gets with Meg, like his abuse wasn't self inflicted. Ew. Just ew

    Come on people's. I grew up in the late 80s and early 90s. And my foster parents were the best. They raised the 6 of us with values and care. Couldn't say the same about my biologicals. Long story. But the fact remains. These parents tried their best. Today's kids just want. And dont think of the consequences. I told my land lord he doesn't let my daughter of 16 out the gate if im at work. She threw her jey away. Because she doesn't care.. Now she can stay inside till i get home. The streets aren't like in the 90s any more. Bad things walk the streets.

    Siblings are always compared to each other growing up, good or bad. But realize that some people are just stank. Kids who have had everything turned out to be trash and kids who had had nothing have turned out great! Some just are bad people. The boyfriend is following the 'damsel in distress' thing which is a double-edged sword. The Dad....he just needs to be a little less involved. The Mom is like most working parents...there, but not there. Its a rough situation. And to sell the boyfriend on to his other daughter is creepy.

    Ok, that child is just awful but her father is no great parent. He created half of the drama with her. Come over and fix the bf bike and then unload all the shitty things you think about your kid. Damn, no wonder she didn't want you to meet him and screw everything up. I mean for 4 years she's got a good man, decent job and is working positively and you say "I wonder if my daughter deserves you".

    I don't condone Karen's behavior. But I can see why she turned out the way she did.
    There's a difference in guiding your child vs. trying to force them into what you want them to be. OP didn't sound like a father talking to his daughter when talking to Karen. He sounded like a parole officer talking to a scumbag criminal.
