There was a Saxophone player from Greece. He got ill and didn't make the trip. They found a new Saxophone player in Italy. For some reason he couldn't participate either. They finally used this older guy who apparently didn't have the required skills. He nearly destroyed the performance.

Been an ESC fan since 1999 and i've always love this song, so atmospheric. 1991 was a classic year (and 1992). There are MANY gems in the past and this is one of them.

Anixi is my favourite Greek entry and of course it's still a big hit in Greece! That song and performance deserved at least a top 10 placement, but everything was cut short by the saxophonist! Also, there is a duet version of Anixi featuring Demy (Greece 2017)!

Another interesting fact is that Sophia Vossou had to wear a corset, so as to look thinner! This reduced the depth of her breath. And still she gave THIS vocal performance. The information also revealed by Vossou in an interview.

Back in those days the Artists (representing Greece) had to buy their own clothes... And also they stayed in low cost hotels! Contrary to other countries representatives who stayed, as expected, in luxury hotels. The previous information was revealed by Sophia Vossou herself in a tv interview relatively recently.

anoixi by Sophia Vossou was completely derailed by a Dreadful sax Musician with an out-of-tune saxophone solo. According to Greek conductor Haris Andreadis, the original saxophone player who handled the song fine in rehearsals, was let go ''right before the show'' due to asking for too much money, and the replacement never even rehearsed the song prior to the live broadcast. The song has gone down in Eurovision history more for its three minute performance, due to a less than competent Saxophone player, ‘butchering’ the instrumental break and Vossou’s face looks miffed during this part. While the song was not a success at the contest, at home it was a major hit being, certified multi- platinum. And continue it's course for 33 years.
