And power lawyers are definitely charging between 30-40% of winnings, so it makes sense.

Little worried about how this antitrust thing is going down, I know these fighters want the money now because they desperately need it but the numbers don't work out that great. 260M divided between 1200 fighters is only a bit more than 200k each. Thats not enough to support these guys for the rest of their lives, this will just kick the can down the road a handful of years if they are lucky, and its not like the cost of living is getting cheaper. I'm also fairly certain that the settlement would stipulate that it couldn't be relitigated in the future, so these guys are going to be wishing they had not settled for so little.

Just one court appearance cost thousands, and i was told that was cheap compared to other local lawyers. They literally charge for EVERYTHING, every drop of gas, every email, every conversation, from the moment they get out of bed if they are working on your behalf you pay for it. It's a legal racket. And power lawyers are definitely charging between 30-40% of winnings, so it makes sense.

Little worried about how this antitrust thing is going down, I know these fighters want the money now because they desperately need it but the numbers don't work out that great. 260M divided between 1200 fighters is only a bit more than 200k each. Thats not enough to support these guys for the rest of their lives, this will just kick the can down the road a handful of years if they are lucky, and its not like the cost of living is getting cheaper. I'm also fairly certain that the settlement would stipulate that it couldn't be relitigated in the future, so these guys are going to be wishing they had not settled for so little.
They would have risked losing and some guys only have 1 or 2 fights they don't deserve money to retire off of from this. 200k is fair maybe not for the top guys but it's fair considering some barely deserve it.
