    I love this episode! It is informative and inspiring, from repairing your second hand watermaker (Re-use!), including the NASA priced puller, to paddling instead of motoring, to Caesar salad dressing recipe, to taking time to really show us the life under the pier, both in your videography and editing (great color!), and your enthusiasm. Thank you! The Books from REEF are wonderful: coral, fish, and reef creatures. You can become a citizen researcher submitting counts. Although I have the paper copies, the beautiful glossy pages are glue with a little moisture, a.k.a. the marine environment. So now, I recommend their ebooks. Health, love, and peace, Sockeye

  • @dougnicoll
    @dougnicoll 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Welcome to the Island. I have seen the seahorses under the pier. The ones I have seen were hanging on to small pieces of plant life on the bottom. They are hard to see because they blend in so well. I hope you get to see one while your here. The octopus hide very well in holes primarily around a clump of rocks. If you see a pile of shells, look closely because they use them to cover themselves. Every once in a while you will see them traveling along the bottom.

      Such a good idea. We didn’t shut our lights off, but it would be a good backup too.

      Beau and Brandy Sailing
      Be sure to plan on being there around the new moon so the night sky is darker.
      Vieques does not offer great anchoring since the coves are either too shallow or too rocky.
      You’ll end up anchoring near the ferry which is on the north side of the island and of course Mosquito Bay is on the south side (about 10km).
      If you contact some of the night time bioluminescence bay tour guides I’m sure they can arrange to get you there. FYI ... I took my friends to the bay the first night in Vieques and they went back every single night. They have never stopped talking about those nights.
      Filming the experience can be a challenge. (There are some videos posted on youtube.) I remember after swimming in the bay you get out and shake your hair and all the water drops are illuminated. Beau can just watch without hair. 👾
      Side note: next weekend is Stonewall Pride Parade so it is Beau’s annual chance at giving us all a cheap thrill by showing off his tan lines.

    • @BeauAndBrandy
      @BeauAndBrandy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we hope to get up that way before the next new moon. And Darn it, we won’t be able to make it for the weekend, but that would be a BLAST I’m sure. 🕺🏽👙 Beau’s tan lines 😂 love it!

    About that $600 tool ...
    .. you are probably right that you would not ever spend $600 on water BUT you could easily spend $600 on fuel fetching the water.
    Besides when you “lend out” that tool you can demand in return they buy you the fanciest dinner available wherever you are.

    I seen a video about this guy bought a brand new Rain man water filtration system. It was the small portable system, but he bought the biggest filters for it. The reason he did that was because he found out the the biggest filters allow you to produce the most amount of water in the shortest time. So that means the less you unit runs, the longer it lasts and the less energy you use. You might want to think about that. Yes I know you have solar and your system is electrical, but you are still having to replace parts on your equipment. Sorry about that specialty tool. Special means alot of money. I wish I knew about it before you bought it because I could have made it for you at cost of material. Like $50.00.

      I really need to get five certified. Setting here on Fathers Day eating my home made Keto Pizza. She has made the best crust ever. Now at 222.8 pounds from 275 pounds last year at this time. No more joint pain and I feel soooooo much better. Will be 52 next month.
