Hi, I have found this guide helpful, but am still having issues adjusting my DPA 4488. I can't seem to get it in the right position/to stay there. I have used audacity to see where itis in its best position, but it is hard to get it into that position. I also have some issues with it moving around a lot. The frame behind my head doesn't seem to be tight enough, I have tried both of the adjustments for that. I would really find it helpful for a guide on the steps to take to make sure it is in the correct position and like if it is doing this then here is the adjustment you should make. Thank eitherway, The quality of this mic is impressive. I use it mainly for controlling my computer with a voice control software called talon, and the community there is what recommended me to get one of your line of products. I also have the dpa d:vice and find it phenomenal (though i wish i could change its setting though my pc instead of borrowing someones iphone)

Hi, my 4488 seem to have an issue after over 15 months of use, I think is has an issue with the wire around the back, it makes loud noise as I move my head, is there a way I can order a replacement wire or do I have to send it in for a repair?

      Hi,
The cable is replaceable, but is a spare part that your dealer needs to order. We would recommend you take it to your dealer so they can figure out what and if something is wrong. In either case, the mic is still under warranty if it is an error caused by us.
      Hope this helps.

@@DPAmicrophones I don't think it's under warranty. Could you please give me the part number for the 4488 wire with microdot end, thanks

Sure thing. Depending on the color you need to order one of these:
CH16B00 Microphone Cable for Earhook Slide, Black, MicroDot
CH16C00 Microphone Cable for Earhook Slide, Brown, MicroDot
CH16F00 Microphone Cable for Earhook Slide, Beige, MicroDot

On the Homepage i dont see the actuall spare parts in case of an repair. Is the heavy duty cable just an extension to the thin mic cable, or can you switch them out?

Hi John, Replacement parts can be ordered with our distributors or dealers, and they can help you with what part you need.
The heavy duty is not available for headsets except as an extension. You can get the Heavy duty 4660 Series Lavs with Heavy duty cable or for our 4099 instrument mic, the cable is interchangeable. I hope this helps.

I just got my hands on the 4488 and I noticed that I was unable to open the locking cap shown at 0:13. I thought it would simply slide forward, but it doesn't. Is there a trick to getting it open?

    What is better ?

It depends on the situation. The omni (4466) will pick up sound from all directions, which is great for presentations where there is no other audio paying. The directional (4488) will pick up sound from the mouth, which is great if you're on a stage with drums, bass, keys, guitars, etc. all around you.
