The music is just as good as the show. Great actors, great stories, excellent directors. Deserving of every award and accolade in the world. Exceptional television. Addictive. I know all of these actors from other work, and they all have permanent homes in my heart.

It's possible the actor for Maxine had other obligations to fill so they were forced to write the character out :/ It's pretty common in TV where writers have to come up for a reason for the character to no longer be in the show because the actor has multiple other projects going on
Agreed, but if they do bring her back (I'm still to watch season 8) they've taken it too far! Too unrealistic to be buried alive and then survive.

I was all OITNB, and swore off watching Wentworth, then my husband started watching it anyway, and I caught bits of the first episode while cleaning round the house, and I haven't watched a single second of OITNB since! I've rewatched Wentworth several times over instead!

I went as far as watching oitnb 3 times on Netflix & buying all the seasons at Walmart but then I watched Wentworth didnt like it at first cuz it wasnt oitnb then I started watching it again I fell in love ! I love both but Wentworth is THE BEST !

Their two different genres IMO. I feel like OITNB is more of a dramedy and Wentworth is more like a thriller edge of your seat type show. So i think it's hard to compare the two. But i agree, Wentworth is a far better show! I respect your opinion though.....

jeccel camacho i've seen both and i think they are a bit different in a sense , i almost see wentworth as a little more realistic ? but it also depends on the season to which is better bc i like them both differently . the first few seasons of OITNB was absolutely amazing but the recent seasons have sucked which i'm sad about but it's hard to keep writing a good plot with that storyline . the first 4 ish seasons of wentworth shocked me how good it was and how the storyline was really well done it was almost a psychological thriller , it really left me wondering what would happen and i enjoyed the story a lot . i think they both r good for different reasons but at the end of the day it's hard to keep ANY series really good for longer than like a few or more about season , iv only met a few choice shows that were really good from first season to the last. ideas run out and ppl get lazy wit writing creativity etc but whatevs
You should check out Locked Up! It’s a prison show from Spain but they aired it at the UK. It’s exactly like watching Wentworth but I think it’s more intense!!!

This series has helped me get through some dark times of my own. It truly is a work of art, the diversity, the rawness, it's everything you would want in a prison show and then even more than you could ever imagine. Eat your heart out Hollywood, the Aussies win hands down!!! I'm now watching the show that started Wentworth from the late 70's, called Prisoner: Cell Block H.

This is one of my top 3 favorite shows ever. The writers, crew and cast are a brilliant team. They know how to tell a story. My favorite character is Vera just because of the changes she's gone through. She's definitely not old Vinegar Tits anymore lol

Without spoiling anything, what happened at the end of the last episode of season 7 made me literally gasp out loud and throw my hands over my mouth in shock. And that's saying a lot considering that there is a gut punch in almost every single episode.

I was a prison guard for 20 yrs. in Illinois. of course some of this is sensationalized but this is show is more on point than any other I have watched. I love it.
Are the guards really so easily compromised (low wages/gambling debt) to bring in contraband? Phones, drugs, etc?
I watched the original back in 1979 with my sis...when I was 10 ( with our nanny ) came across Wentworth by accident..sat my sis down and put Wentworth on and we both binged the first 3 seasons in a weekend...and have watched the last 4 seasons together. Such an amazing show and so much better than any other prison show.

It's what happens when you have been a survivor of domestic abuse. It even showed where her husband had also raped her. The system failed her. She had no way out. It's precisely why she tried to kill Harry. I think she was scared he would start abusing Debbie.

yeah , i tried watching it after i watched couple seasons of this and well you can really see that is show is much better than orange is the new black , and this show makes me more concerned about characters than game of thrones did, i like that in this show they could kill a character, that i really like and there is another who i like , if that is killed or is not in the show anymore there shows up another , if they killed Tyrion in game of thrones i would just stop watching ( did not watch last season anyway) and one of few shows who killed the main character and did not go to shit

We just finished season 7 last night... I won’t give any spoilers, but, I’m still speechless, especially over the last two episodes, I’ve never cried through entire episodes of any show before or thinking about them the next day. The very last scene of the season left me with chills.

It took me a year to watch the original Wentworth, from he 70's to 80's. It is really good and this Wentworth is based off that, even the same character's. You gotta watch it on season downtime. It is call Prisoner Cell Block H Wentworth. So good. There is almost 700 episode's, it was on air for almost 15 yrs.

When I started watching Ep.1 in S1, I thought, “ahh this will be just another all female prisoners drama series” Tettt! I was WRONG! When I done Ep.1, I couldnt stop binging till morning! 😅😅
Plot twists in each season were all super brilliant(Congrats production Team!). After Franky Doyle left the institution, never thought that she’d reappeared in WW in the following Season. Then again, when the Top Dog Bea Smith was killed in S.4.
Viewers apparently were devastated greatly when the main character Bea Smith is killed, but Then again WW successfully giving a massive shock to its viewers when the ‘Freak’ was the one who escaped & actually buried alive?!😲
S.6 has more actions & new faces gives some ‘fresh air’ to WW, what a very cool approach Writer!😉

After watching Wentworth I reluctantly decided to give PCBH a try. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to enjoy a 40 year old show because I would have some kind of mental block that would keep me from enjoying the "dated" PCBH. I was dead wrong. I rewatched PCBH three times in a row, back to back. Dated, my ass. PCBH is far superior to most of the current garbage today. I love both of the shows but I believe the original is my favorite. I would have viewed PCBH a 4th time but they have blocked like the first 100 episodes, suddenly and recently (August 2020). No worries. I am content watching the PCBH episodes that are still available here in Atlanta, Georgia, USA until Wentworth, season 8 drops on Netflix US at the end of September.

I just started watching this show a few months ago and I was so impressed with how amazing this women can act and how well and genuine they cry during their takes . It’s amazing. I cried when Debbie died . I have a son and my biggest fear is not only losing him but losing him to the war on drugs bc in America it’s so bad I’ve lost so many friends and ppl who I’ve grew up with. I never cry at shows but her take on that was so raw and real it was insane how realistic it was! Amazing actresses all of them are
This show did something many others fail to do.
It can make you hate a character with a passion, love a character with a passion and also go from hating to loving a character and vice versa. You never really know what the characters may end up doing
My favorite show! OITNB doesn't have nothing on Wentworth. It doesn't have you on the edge of your seat and yelling at the TV like Wentworth does.
Cause their Teri different genres. OITNB is more like a dramedy while Wentworth is a suspenseful thriller type show. IMO

I snickered when 'Miles' matter-of-factly said, when they're not killing each other, they're a nice family.
