this is the ONLY video I could find on the internet that aCTUALLY Tells You how to remove the windhield mouldings on the 55-57 Chevy Convertible,,one would think that DANCHUCK would have such , concerning the covertible model- THUMBS DOWN TO DANCHUCK ...THUMBS UP TO CV CLASSICS x INFINITY!!!
Most companies that sell reproduction parts for theses car have them. Check with Danchuck, Ecklers , and other companies that specialize in theses cars. That tool is really important so you don’t damage the nut, or scratch the Chrome on a new reproduction piece. Good luck and have fun on your project.
Just found this video. Great Job. Can the upper left stainless windshield moulding on a Bel Air be removed and reinstalled without taking the windshield out?
My recommendation is to first have a clear vision of what you are trying to accomplish and the goal of your restoration. Is it a show car, is it a nice driver, do you want it all original or more of a resto mod with upgraded safety features. Next do a lot of research and plan out the build in phases, suspension, drive line, paint body, glass, interior, etc. there are several books on how to restore a 57 that may offer you some guidance. If you plan on sending it out you have to find a reputable shop that can handle a car like that, Lastly what ever your budget is double it. There are always costs involved that you don’t plan for or realize until you tear the car down. Which ever way you decide it’s awesome that you are wanting to do that for your parents. Hope this helps and good luck with your project.

No the upper stainless is imbedded in the window rubber, and it would be impossible to get it back in without removing the window
Saved me from ruining mine
