Avni, or T1 as she was officially known, was killed by in 2018 after a prolific hunt led by a civilian hunter and forest officials after she was accused of killing 13 people.
Over two years since the killing of Avni, an alleged man-eating tigress accused of killing 13 people in Maharashtra, the Supreme Court of India has sought an answer to whether the slain tigress was indeed a man-eater. The apex court also demanded answers on the “reward" that was allegedly given for killing the tigress.
The court order brings back a case that received a high level of attention from both the media and animal welfare activists, many who called the killing of Avni “cold-blooded murder".

@hpatelecom1 You are one of those weird folks of India who believe the exetermination of maneating leopards and tigers should be the domain of the colonial Englishman but when it's done by today's Indians working with myriad wildlife/environmental laws, vested politics, dubious NGOs, contradictory social views, rapid urbanisation and such, it warrants relegation to the substandard. The government and the people should be very thankful to the Nawab. He cares for the people who have suffered losses. People sitting in remote areas with no clue about maneaters should stay out of this. The forest ministry and chief conservator of forests should make the decisions.

Man killing cats, with a reputation for more than 1 kill, usually earn that reputation honestly because they're hungry, game is scarce and peeps are plentiful.
