Always happy to see you post a dresden files video! I've been holding out on buying this short story. But now that you mention Toot Toot and Will I'm not going to be able to put it off any longer :)
Yeah. My theory has always been the story is Harry's recounting of history, hence the Dresden FILES. I'd be curious to see if this plays and how much time would have passed.
I am glad to have discovered you. I love your insights, and you make a lot of sense. I especially love the whole D&D "Toot-Toot powering up when Harry powers up" connection. I thought about that, but I never made the connection quite that way. Making Harry's fame grow like the fae as the Wizard of Chicago was a great insight. I saw that in "The Good People," but THAT was an amazing connection. I love your insights, and I look forward to seeing what else you do with your observations on the Dresden Files.
This is a fascinating topic! Harry Dresden, from "The Dresden Files," is often compared to other famous wizards, and pitting him against the Dementors from "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" is particularly intriguing. Let's explore why Dresden could potentially defeat the Dementors and why he might struggle against them. Firstly, Dresden’s experience in combat and his versatility in using magic give him an edge. He has faced a wide variety of supernatural threats throughout his career, from vampires to faeries, which makes him well-equipped to handle the Dementors’ unique abilities. His combat spells are powerful and can be adapted to various situations, potentially neutralizing the Dementors. Secondly, Dresden’s knowledge of protective magic is extensive. He has crafted numerous wards and shields to protect himself and others from magical and physical attacks. This knowledge could help him devise a way to protect himself from the Dementors' soul-sucking abilities, either through magical barriers or other protective spells. Thirdly, Dresden's resourcefulness and determination are key traits. He often finds unconventional solutions to problems and uses his environment to his advantage. In a battle against Dementors, Dresden’s quick thinking and creativity could lead him to discover a weakness or an effective countermeasure that others might overlook. On the other hand, there are several reasons why Harry Dresden might struggle against the Dementors. Firstly, the Dementors’ primary weapon, the ability to induce despair and suck out a person's soul, is a psychological attack. Dresden, who has his own set of emotional scars and traumas, might be particularly vulnerable to this kind of assault. The intense despair they generate could significantly impair his ability to fight back effectively. Secondly, Dresden’s magical abilities, while powerful, might not include a direct counter to the Dementors’ unique form of magic. Unlike the wizards in the Harry Potter universe, Dresden doesn’t have access to a Patronus Charm, which is the known effective defense against Dementors. Without a specialized spell to repel them, he would need to improvise, which might not always be successful under extreme pressure. Lastly, Dresden often relies on physical combat skills and conventional weaponry alongside his magic. However, these would be largely ineffective against the Dementors, who are immune to physical attacks. This limitation means Dresden would have to rely solely on his magical prowess, potentially putting him at a disadvantage if his initial magical strategies fail. In conclusion, while Harry Dresden’s extensive combat experience, knowledge of protective magic, and resourcefulness give him potential ways to defeat the Dementors, the psychological nature of their attacks, the lack of a specific counter-spell, and the ineffectiveness of physical attacks could pose significant challenges for him. The outcome would likely depend on Dresden's ability to quickly adapt and find a unique solution to this daunting threat.
This is a fascinating topic! Comparing Bloom from *Winx Club* to Maeve, the Fairy Queen of the Winter Court from the *Dresden Files* series involves examining their strengths and weaknesses. Let's delve into why Bloom could defeat Maeve and why she might not be able to. **Reasons why Bloom could defeat Maeve:** Firstly, Bloom's connection to the Dragon Flame gives her access to an immense source of power. The Dragon Flame is one of the most potent magical forces in the *Winx Club* universe, enabling her to perform feats of strength and resilience that surpass many other magical beings. Secondly, Bloom's growth as a character has consistently shown her ability to adapt and overcome various challenges. She has faced numerous powerful adversaries and has come out stronger each time. Her experiences have honed her strategic thinking and combat skills, making her a formidable opponent. Thirdly, Bloom's close-knit group of friends provides her with invaluable support. The Winx Club's unity and combined magical abilities often tip the scales in their favor. With the support of her friends, Bloom can utilize a diverse array of magical powers, making it harder for Maeve to exploit any singular weakness. **Reasons why Bloom might not be able to defeat Maeve:** On the other hand, Maeve's control over winter and ice grants her a unique advantage. Her mastery of these elements allows her to manipulate the environment and create powerful defensive barriers. In a battle, this control could neutralize some of Bloom's fiery attacks. Additionally, Maeve's experience and cunning as a fairy queen should not be underestimated. Her centuries of existence have endowed her with deep knowledge and a tactical mind. She is adept at exploiting her enemies' weaknesses and could potentially outmaneuver Bloom despite the latter's raw power. Finally, the political and magical influence Maeve wields in the *Dresden Files* universe is significant. As a high-ranking member of the Winter Court, she has access to vast resources and powerful allies. In a direct confrontation, Maeve might call upon these resources to bolster her strength and capabilities, creating a scenario where Bloom is outnumbered and outmatched. In conclusion, while Bloom's raw power and supportive friends give her a strong chance of defeating Maeve, the fairy queen's mastery of winter magic, tactical cunning, and political influence present significant challenges. The outcome of such a battle would ultimately hinge on the circumstances and the strategies each character employs. --- I .
I genuinely feel the Scottish castle is related to Dresden's family lineage. I think Marcone is ACTING as the bad guy because that's the only way to manipulate Dresden into protecting Chicago. Since vices aren't regulated, Marcone is the one to relegate these vices and protect addicts and sex workers through being the "big bad". His whole pit is filled with people who crossed that line as in the book with the wolf pelts. I also feel Harry can't stand Marcone because he's too much like his own self and is afraid to fully recognize that. I also wonder if Marcone is also starborn despite being a "normie".
I have only just seen your channel and you seem pretty good at understanding how this world works. I was VERY curious what your thoughts on thr gatekeeper are... and whether he may not be a Harry from the future attempting to subtly stear him in a direction that will protect or prevent something very important. There is A TON of evidence in this direction if you look for it, and, apart from it being against Wizarding law, I'm looking for anything that says it can't be possible. Honestly, I need a sounding board. And PS - I very much like your idea of a new "Mantle" being created and MIGHT answer my some questions about what the gatekeeper might have taken such a huge risk for.
@@CaffeinatedCovers *laugh* That is undeniably true. Also while Sigrund is very competent and loyal (due to contract and being a professional.) Marcone is without his second. @@bandi138138 oh I’d be shocked if we didn’t at least in some limited way…unless the ‘choice’ that changes Harry in that book has somehow lead to her death in that universe too
Few things, the Fey weren't in danger of non existence due to being forgotten, they were in danger of losing their access to mortals and the deals they make with them that give them power, they would still however be alive as they do not draw power from people believing in them. Also the Archive can not erase a being from existence after being forgotten for 1000 years, she holds the names of Outsiders and after a certain time has passed if that name is no longer mentioned or written anywhere she erases the memory from herself thus ensuring it can no longer be called into reality but the being still exists. The Gatekeeper also didn't so much as say he would have voted against Harry as he straight up told him he would have killed him had Harry left and gone home after completing the mission the Council gave him to affirm his 'Wizard' status, as voting against him would have meant a death sentence the Gatekeeper saw no reason not to do it himself. I agree that marrying Lara (assuming it happens) will be what breaks the true love protection Harry has, but per Jim true love only effects the Raiths / White Court's that feed off of lust, the ones that feed off of other emotions are affected by different things.
Agreed, plus his position in winter and the new more powerful connection to lea and mab pretty much guarantee that the ways connected to the castle are going to be scary fortified.

A wheelchair designed by Harry Dresden would likely have a mix of practicality, magical enhancements, and a bit of his signature rough-around-the-edges style. Firstly, it would be sturdy and functional, probably built from a combination of traditional materials like wood and metal, but reinforced with magical sigils for extra durability and protection. Given Harry's love for using basic materials creatively, it might have a handcrafted look, with visible runes and symbols etched into the frame. Functionally, it would probably have a few magical enhancements. For instance, it could have a self-propelling mechanism activated by a spoken word or gesture, allowing the user to move without manual effort. It might also have defensive capabilities, like a small shield spell to protect the user from attacks or a ward to repel supernatural entities. Additionally, knowing Harry, it might have a hidden compartment for storing magical tools or potions. It could also be equipped with some sort of emergency flare or distress signal that Harry could use to call for help if needed. Overall, it would be a blend of rugged, utilitarian design with practical magical features, making it both a reliable mode of transport and a useful tool in a pinch.
You mentioned thresholds. We have already seen a very good business/living space balance with Mortimer Lindquist's duplex. Half work with a light threshold and living space with a solid threshold.
Harry may be offered the opportunity to become an immortal. If this happens, it might; probably will, seem that it is more than an opportunity, it might appear to be a necessity, but that doesn't mean Harry will make that choice. Harry's contrary nature and his abilities as a detective might allow him to find a reasonable; for Harry if not Mab, alternative to becoming an immortal.
I am going to have to bow out when you discuss the next dresden book until I read it. Glad to see you V. Hope all is well. But... yea him taking up A Title. The series has gone On and ON at how Names are important. Names give one Power. Power also has a price in that it also constrains your free will. 'I'm in the phone book. Look me up.' Why do I have the feeling the series will end with either 'Conjour by my name at your own risk' or 'I'm in the library of congress. Look me up.'? Ando r Harry becoming a personal accord signatory. Also dear lord Law is gonna be fun if Harry is taking up a Title as Wizardo f Chicago and marcone is Baron of Chicago. ....oh no..... OH NO. Is Harry the modern Merlin and Marcone the modern Arthur? As for the kitchen? It's shown that MORTAL magic suffers drawbacks like technology issues, where in the past it was spoiled milk or the like. THis may be a sign that Harry is transcending his own mortality. He is starborn after all and.... whe ndid Battleground take place? Halloween?
Good point on the Halloween thing. It's possible that if all of the events of Battleground took place any other time it would be no big deal. With power being more fluid then it's possible that Harry did accidentally create a Mantle just by rallying people so much and basically taking command at the end.
Battle Ground took place in the middle of summer, and Little Things takes place two weeks after that. So it’s probably August or late July at this point. The Law takes place a month after BG, so around September.
I thought the castle was from Wales and had a direct connection to the little fairy friend Some of the little people from the story that involved the goat legend around the Chicago Cubs if I remember the background right connected directly to their people and they are from Wales
Its quite obvious Xmas gifts are exempt from the usual fairie debt and belief or anything like that. Its just given freely out of love. The only one who might gain power from present giving is Kringle.
This could be, but there might be some more 'soft' relationship building going on with it. There might not be an explicit debt attatched, but Maggie will definitely remember the snow day gift from Aunt Mab and think better of her for it. Also, I wonder how Mab's remaining connection to her humanity plays into this. I don't have anything concrete, so it's fun to speculate.
Love the series, but getting sick of waiting.... 14 books in 14 years was great!.... 2 books over the last 9 years (with no release in sight) is killing me.... I know Jim has had a tough few years, but it's hard to keep up with broad fantasy worlds/characters when we only see them once every 1000 days or so.... Still my favorite series, but cmon Jim!
In "the law" short story something called HBGB was introduced as explanation for all the observation of magice, and for sure this is pronounced heebie jeebies
Harry will never marry Lara. Thomas is going to replace Harry as the summer knight, thus creating the bond Mab needs without compromising Harry's ideals.
Aunty Lea made the other side a garden. She said that she goes out of her way to ensure his safety from her side of things meaning where ever Harry lives if Lea can she will own the other side in the NN. Where the HELL was Lea? We haven’t seen her since Molly because the WL? She afraid of Harry blaming her?
You misinterpreted the actions in the kitchen. He doesn’t play a radio; he turns on a record player. Records are mechanical more than they are electric; in fact, old type ones used no electricity at all. Also, Harry uses the gas ovens and a mechanical egg-timer, not a microwave. There’s nothing in the story that shows Harry interacting with newer technology.
Is anyone else slightly concerned though? The series is supposed to be 23-24 books, and we're at book 17. We still know absolutely nothing about the Black Council, and I feel like the big bad should be coming more into focus by now.
I just finished Battleground audio for the 3rd time and just noticed something...at the end of the book, Butcher goes out of his way to show that Lara is wearing gloves. We all know Harry & Lara have always had chemistry, and as Freydis points out to Harry that Lara likes him and treats him special as compared to other people. I think the thing about the gloves could mean as far as Lara is concerned she has already fallen in love with Harry. Or, I could just be seeing things that I want to...I always liked Murph, but I never though her and Harry really matched as lovers. Lara is a much better match IMO
Lara is not wearing gloves to protect her because she is in love with Harry. She is wearing gloves because Harry is once again protected from being fed upon by the White Court because He and Murphy were in love and had sex.
During the mission to break out Thomas in Peace Talks, Lara gets burned by Harry from brushing against him. He thinks to himself it's nice to have confirmation that Karrin Murphy's love is real. So the comment about Lara wearing gloves at the end of Battle Ground makes sense, to protect her from getting burned by touching Harry, since she likes him and instinctively tries to feed on him.
Butcher's Dark Wings. If the Wings Club were written by Jim Butcher and integrated into the Dresden Files universe, it would likely take on a darker and more ominous tone, as the Dresden Files series tends to deal with more mature themes and gritty storytelling. The premise of the Wings Club, a group of fairies attending a magical school, would remain the same, but the characters would be more complex and their relationships would be more nuanced. The protagonist, Bloom, would be a powerful fairy who struggles with her identity and the dark magic that resides within her. Butcher's writing style would lend itself to creating more intense and action-packed scenes, with the Wings Club members facing off against supernatural threats and dark forces. The magical world would be more intricately described, with Butcher's attention to detail bringing the world to life. Overall, the Wings Club series would have a more mature and gritty feel, blending elements of urban fantasy and the coming-of-age genre. Fans of the Dresden Files would enjoy the darker take on the magical school trope, while fans of the Wings Club would appreciate the more complex and nuanced characters.

It's almost like when schools would give out pizza coupons for reading books. It's amazing how pizza motivates action and long term payoffs.

**Reasons why Bloom might not be able to defeat Maeve:**
On the other hand, Maeve's control over winter and ice grants her a unique advantage.

I .
Thanks
Native Chicagoan here, ya gotta known a guy
Marcone does, hell. he is the guy
Still waiting to hear from Resurrection Mary too.
'ya gotta know a guy. Marcone does. Hell, he *is* the guy.'
Pfftaaahahaha That's just. So damned funny.
I'm sure he pulled some strings. Who needs a wizard on the payroll when you can make paperwork disappear on your own?
@@CaffeinatedCovers *laugh*
That is undeniably true.
Also while Sigrund is very competent and loyal (due to contract and being a professional.)
Marcone is without his second. Marcone is without his Knight. There is a void in his court shaped like the one person he could come closest to trusting.
Even with him being a nicklehead now. hell ESPECIALLY because he is a nicklehead now I suspect he is not taking the loss well.
I'm looking forward to a marcone PoV story. Hindricks was his friend as well as business associate and bodyguard.
@@singletona082 Something in Harry and Marcone's locker room talk made me think that Marcone KNOWS taking the coin was a step too far and wants Harry to take him out if he becomes too big of a monster. Which kinda makes sense, since I think Marcone, more than any other black hat, is Harry's direct foil.
I think Harry and Lara are going to be a medium-term thing. Ultimately, Harry will end up with Molls. Also - don't forget the Order of the Bean. Yet another group that will aid Harry in subtle, but important ways.
I firmly believe molly will be mab by the end.
@@missouricanna640my money is on Lara. Mab said Molly is no where near ready. But Lara, Lara knows how " the game must be played " And Harry means to get his " grasshopper " out of harms way. By hook or by crook
I'm still hoping something crazy brings Murphy back in the future
I’m pretty sure we’ve not seen the last of her, but definitely in a different way. I think she’s out of the main story part… 😞
@@Chace957 maybe we’ll see her in mirror mirror, since it’s a parallel dimension story
I think she will come back in the most bittersweet way possible. And I think this was planned since the beginning because of what Harry sees as he looks at her with his sight in book 3.
@@bandi138138 oh I’d be shocked if we didn’t at least in some limited way…unless the ‘choice’ that changes Harry in that book has somehow lead to her death in that universe too
@@CaffeinatedCovers yeah I’d agree. Probably in the ‘pulling out all the stops’ part of the apocalypse trilogy at the end
Thank you for this video. I didn't know about little things
Glad it was helpful! Hope you read it!
If the castle was raised and put where leas garden was I’m guessing her garden will reflect that and be alot bigger and scarier.
Agreed, plus his position in winter and the new more powerful connection to lea and mab pretty much guarantee that the ways connected to the castle are going to be scary fortified.
The connection was artificially created by Leah to keep things from never never from visiting Harry
badass finally found a fellow dres head with a passion as strong as mine! well done maam! maybe we could collab when the new book comes out. now i have to scour your channel to find the mouse and cerbirus short story
Great video thank you
Glad you enjoyed it
I think bobs blue eyes are a mark of how much power he has. Bob got a major power upgrade by all the access to the internet when he was evil bob he was much more powerful
He did!
Or a sign he’s with the winter knight now
A wheelchair designed by Harry Dresden would likely have a mix of practicality, magical enhancements, and a bit of his signature rough-around-the-edges style.
I want more dresden files!!!
Me too, buddy. Late October/early November I will have free time again to make videos.
Hopefully we’ll have som DF news too. Now that the plot is really ramping up, my patience is sorely tested 😢
You mentioned thresholds. We have already seen a very good business/living space balance with Mortimer Lindquist's duplex. Half work with a light threshold and living space with a solid threshold.
That's a good point. I wonder what old Morty is up to nowadays?
Love your content freund. 😀
Ah shucks, thanks!
I definitely think he will be offered the opportunity to become immortal at some point.
Dont forget harry was saying we need to balance the scales with certain someone
I am going to have to bow out when you discuss the next dresden book until I read it.
Glad to see you V. Hope all is well.
But... yea him taking up A Title. The series has gone On and ON at how Names are important. Names give one Power. Power also has a price in that it also constrains your free will.
'I'm in the phone book. Look me up.'
Why do I have the feeling the series will end with either 'Conjour by my name at your own risk' or 'I'm in the library of congress.

I keep coming back to Arthurian legend vibes because of stuff like this. That might need a video all on its own, especially concerning Harry's family.
Wait does that mean Harry has an inordinate amount.of sway or power over the Archive aka Ivey. A nd she acknowledges from a man she adores.
Being forgotten does not destroy these creatures or beings. It does cut them off from our reality though .
Ok so the obvious future path is Lara replaces Mauve .. and I hate spoilers, but what she said to Harry about Molly kinda of lays it out
Hey so whats your favorite dresden files boock??
I thought the castle was from Wales and had a direct connection to the little fairy friend Some of the little people from the story that involved the goat legend around the Chicago Cubs if I remember the background right connected directly to their people and they are from Wales
I didn't know that. There's a lot of lore from around the UK that I need to read because I think a lot of those references are going over my head.
The same one that was taken out by Ethniu in Peace Talks. I don't think he was Welsh.
@@chuck_henry Gwynne Ap Nudd, king of the Tylwyth Teg, the welsh equivalent of the Sidhe.
@@human3745 thanks. I guess I'm due for another reread.
There are people who denied the Holocaust or 9/11 happening. Some people still denying magic isn’t that big a difference to me.
It’s very believable, but it makes me very sad that this sort of denial exists.
While waiting for the next Dreseden Files, what series should I tackle?
When I read that I wasn't sure whose love she was protecting herself against. I am on book 6 in my re-read, so I need to get back around to this.
Lara is not wearing gloves to protect her because she is in love with Harry. She is wearing gloves because Harry is once again protected from being fed upon by the White Court because He and Murphy were in love and had sex.
I think it’s pretty clear that Harry and Murphy were in love, so likely she’s being careful about this
During the mission to break out Thomas in Peace Talks, Lara gets burned by Harry from brushing against him. He thinks to himself it's nice to have confirmation that Karrin Murphy's love is real. So the comment about Lara wearing gloves at the end of Battle Ground makes sense, to protect her from getting burned by touching Harry, since she likes him and instinctively tries to feed on him.
Butters yes .. but due respect to Sanya
Fans of the Dresden Files would enjoy the darker take on the magical school trope, while fans of the Wings Club would appreciate the more complex and nuanced characters.
the subbasement is still there and mostly unchanged.
