      Thanks Dion! These are the standard chunky grips. So far they hold up great. I even had a mishap with a garage door snagging the handlebar and lifting the bike up by the grip. I expected the sharp metal to shred the silicone. No damage at all. I heard the ESI Grips wear out fast and get messed up easily, but Ive yet to experience that from the ones I ordered. Hey Mike - I've got a 20" PK looptail and a hardtail Canondale MTB that I've made urban. I'm thinking about a new DBlocks, but do you recommend the Fast Ripper more?

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I love the option of having gears. The Fast Ripper feels like the big ripper geometry - only I have options for the gearing so I can make it easy for wheelies or gear down to go faster on long riders. I personally think the Fast Ripper has all the pros of the big ripper with better gearing availability on the go.

      Hey brother, The SE So Cal feels like a BMX bike you're familiar with. I'll be SUPER honest, the 27.5 PK Ripper feels exactly like the agile BMX bike you remember only it's bigger and more roomy for knees. The Sunday Model C 24 is another good one - just put some 8 inch bars on any 24 inch BMX bike and it'll feel like the bikes we grew up with. Good luck!

    • @ashleystyles6888
      @ashleystyles6888 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BigBikeBMX thanks man. I've reservations about a 27.5 as I owned a 650b mountain bike that I hated. Maybe that was due to the high crossbar? No idea. I've been looking at gt heritage 24 or the model c..... will the model c feel more like that and will the gt feel more like a cruiser in comparison? Cheers 🇺🇸🇬🇧

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ashleystyles6888 I think the handlebars make a world of difference in "feel" for a BMX bike vs a BMX Cruiser. I like the feeling of sitting more upright while I ride my bike vs bent down over the forks. Thats what MTBs feel like to me personally and why I never transitioned from BMX to MTB. I owned a model C and it felt like a BMX bike to me. I wanted to flatland on it, and I couldn't get the geometry to work for flatland freestyle so I moved to the Big Ripper 29 and loved it.
      If you're ever in Phoenix or you see me at a rideout, come ask to ride my PK and you can take it for a spin the way I have it set up. I would like to add wheelie pegs to my 2019 fast ripper. There is only 3/16 of an inch extra room on one side and a 1/4 on the other side. Do they make a longer axle? What would you recommend doing? Thank you for answering my last guestion.

    • @BigBikeBMX
      @BigBikeBMX 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll need to get a longer axle if you want pegs. Some folks just bolt them on as-is, but that's a horrible idea. You'll get hurt. Hit up your local MTB shop as they'll likely have the parts you need to make the axle longer for pegs.

    The bars you have on there now are 6" in height. The PK ripper bars are 7" in height. If you flip the stem upside down, you're going to lose an inch therefore putting your handlebar height exactly where it is now. You've gained nothing.
