ahh yes it is a bit redundant here, as you would have to have gone to Whiterun already to get to the point you can start the quest, The Wispering Door. At least he is thorough.

I love how the Ebony Blade can tie into the story of the Dragonborn. Before I found the blade, I was playing as an honorable and kind-hearted Nordic hero. I put the main storyline on hold briefly and ventured off to perfect my craft so that I could eventually have the power to defeat Alduin. First, I joined the Companions and worked my way to becoming Harbinger, bringing much honor to my name. Then I travelled to the College of Winterhold where I perfected destruction magic and became Arch-mage, basically saving all of Winterhold and much more from annihalation. So far so good, right? Then ... it happened. While asking a tavern keeper for rumors, I was told that Jarl Balgruuf's child had become troubled. Being a friend of the Jarl, and his Thane, I decided to check it out. That was when I uncovered it ... The Ebony Blade. If I had known what that weapon would lead me to do when I picked it up, I would have left it to rot. After all, finding the Blade, that's not the hard part ... it's letting go. As soon as I held her in my hands, the Blade demanded blood, and I was powerless to stop it. My characters whole demeanor changed. I joined the dark brotherhood and began killing indescriminately, doing all I could to feed Mephala's appetite. I did the other Daedric quests too, along with a bunch of other evil shit. It was only when the Blade was restored to its full power that I broke free from Mephala's reigns, but the damage was done. Many innocent people now layed dead before me. At that moment, I prepared to jump off the Throat of the World, but that was when I remembered why I had picked up the Blade in the first place. It was so that I could gain the strength to defeat Alduin. And with the Ebony Blade at its full potential, a full armory of Daedric weapons and all the experience I had gained, I now had a particular set of skills that made me a nightmare for dragons like Alduin. I knew I couldn't bring back to life those that I had slain, but with the Blade under my control and everything I had amassed, I swore to myself that there deaths would not be in vain. And then I went back to being the good guy again and saved the world, the end :D

I found a dead shop keeper in winterhold. Her name was Brina.
She died when she was caught outside during a dragon attack.
A courier brought me a letter of inheritance. I didn’t recognize the name but I knew the hold. So, I went to pay my respects
I found her crumpled body behind a broken building & realized she was the one who had sold me a dragon claw.
I had gone back after using the claw, told her what I’d found & shared some of the spoils with her. She was surprised but seemed happy.
Always seemed to give me a decent price on stuff.
Her body doesn’t despawn.
I reanimated her. Took her to the top open floored tower above the arch mages quarters & … I used her untimely death as a means to power up the ebony blade without having anyone else need to die.
She now lies in the circle where you conjure an unbound dremora.
I laid some flowers, straightened her up & left her body there undisturbed.
"We need to talk to Hulda, I probably butchered that name." Lol what how could you butcher it?

Best way that I know for powering up the sword, is to bring the forge masters fingers to an orc stronghold, become blood kin, and then wipe out an entire stronghold. I suggest doing it at the one with Ebony mine, since that way you will be able to get more ebony, and there are no unkillable NPCs there.

Since I first played Skyrim, I have worshiped Mephala. In my game, I finish the quest for the orcs so that essentially every orc in the game "trusts" me and will accompany me if I ask them to, then I take them to the Alchemist Shack, take them into the fenced in garden in the back, and then feed their souls to the blade. I like the Alchemist Shack because it is remote, so there is no legal implication that concerns the local Yarl from killing them and the fence makes it impossible for them to run if I block the doorway with my body. I also hire all the barfly mercs that want to fist fight and feed them to my god. I've never liked companion mechanics in any game, so they are not a big loss, and in Skyrim companions are to a one completely useless against the Falmer, all a companion does in those situations is give away your position, and halves the effectiveness of your archery skill.

The best person to use for this is Narfi! He becomes a target for the Dark Brotherhood anyway. All you need to do is his little mini-quest that takes 2 minutes.
Also I highly recommend using a Staff of Reanimation. It keeps poor Narfi's body intact for all 9 resurrections needed by the blade.
I think the shatter-shield girl you also eliminate as an option can be counted to it as well

If you have the Aetherial Crown, you can make the Ritual Stone the stone effect you have when wearing the crown. Make a friend, kill them, bring then back with the Ritual Stone power. Kill them again. Unequip the Aetherial Crown, then re-equip it. It'll glitch the Ritual Stone power and you can use it again. Repeat until you hit the 10 dead tally.

Yeah... I mean... the quests one can do for the Dawnguard or the Volkihar Vampire Clan are still so buggy, they may break the entire quest chain (which is really annoying to deal with)

You can use calm, pacifie or voice of the emperor and it turns enemys friendly and you can get inheritance letters from forsworns vampires and bandits
I already focused a lot of points on my one-handed skill so that I can do a lot of damage per hit with one-handed weapons. So, two-handed weapons, like the ebony blade, while they look AMAZING and are still great weapons for certain builds, don't quite appeal to me.
The one reason why I even know about this weapon is because it's basically a massive katana!

Hey ESO, I can’t access the Ebony Blade bc at the start of the game I glitched through the walls and got the blade as a starting weapon for my character and now I can’t ‘retrieve’ the Ebony Blade bc I have to drop the blade and pick it up to trigger the quest thingy... but the thing is I can’t drop it bc you can’t remove quest items from your inventory... pls help (This is on PS4)

My current build uses the blade in combination with ranged destruction spells..
With Mriaaks Robe and boots (+Perk and Atronach stone for 100% spell absorption), Konahrik (definitely spelled wrong) and daedric gauntlets for armor I can easily fight several enemies at ones on expert-master.
+ It looks dope ;D

Connor Flournoy he'll just be in the Blue Palace in Solitude, although the HUD should show you where to go
All you have to do is use the ritual stone and wait 24 hours after you kill the person and repeat it 10x. I used the Lighthouse mission so it was a character you kill at the end of the mission anyways so no need to worry about killing a valuable NPC. Super easy, super fast.
I have been trying this and for whatever reason the damage stays at 20.

@ESO If the Dragonborn intends to join the Darkbrotherhood, he can use two of the first three targets Nazir gives him. Beiltild (if you sold her iron ore) or Narfi (if you found his sister's remains after talking to Wilhelm). Just make sure you do these things before receiving these contracts from Nazir. Both targets can be revived with the Dead Thrall Spell.

You can actually get it at level 1, go to dragonsreach, pick up 2 platters go, go to the door with the ebony blade in it, and the drop your platter and press it against the door and finally use whirlwind sprint to get in it and then pick it up and then use whirlwind sprint to get out

Forgot all about this weapon lol, gonna be one of the first things I do.
Since we are left with so many questions and never getting the answers after reading the journal and finding the sword, I always imagined that sword is what led to Balgruuf's wife's death. That the Jarls mage was doing research on this new uncovered sword his scouts found in an old ruin. His wife became possessed by it, killed a few people and it took killing one of there children and Balgruuf crying out to her that made her stop. She gets a moment of clarity and guts herself, bathing the blade in her blood. She was pregnant with Nelkir who surprisingly survived the ordeal which led to him being the way he is now. Balgruuf and Farenger had the sword locked away and both kept a key to the room, swearing secrecy. Which explains dialogue with Ieileth complaining about Balgruuf sneaking out and drinking. Drinking the guilt away. Eh, but who knows. I'm just making things up as I go.

Find a beggar hanging in Silver-Blood Inn, Markath, give him 1 coin (you'll notice he said "finally, now get lost", " bring more gold next time" instead of "thank you"), kill him, cast dead thrall on his corpse and kill him again with Ebony Blade, repeat. It may be less regretful. 😂
Should i use one handed and shield or two handed? I am currently one handed but not really used many perk points on it.
If you want to do more damage, two handed. If you want to block more and attack faster, Tank (shield + one handed weapon) but you can use a two handed weapon and use Elemental Fury shout.
william davies shields are great for me
william davies I went with a breton tank using molag bals mace, spellbreaker and blackmail. I mostly use fire breath shout for more dps and ranged snipe, my breton is now a vampire and soon becomes Blade the vampire hunter. I have dawnbreaker in inventory but I want harkons sword and the fire resistance dragon priest mask

for keeping up strength I'm using health regen and stamina reg enchantments. fuck the mask my daedric mask has more fire resistance
Helpful tip; If, like me, you got this blade before completing the Dark Brotherhood Quest "Hail Sithis", Amaund Motierre also counts as an Ebony Blade Kill.
I believe Horses also count (Though I would advise against killing Shadowmere or Frost).

Whispering lady is a chest first of all. And you can glitch into the room first time entering dragonsreach. take a platter go to the room with a door to the whispering lady then go to the cobwebs (to the left) drop your platter put it to the webs and hold the platter there, then walk to the platter until you glitch ON the wall then walk on the wall to the room. You should see the ebony blade on the desk and the whispering lady (which is a box) this comment is (new) but yeah, you dont have to do all of the missions for ebony blade you can get it at level one.
But then you couldn't drop it out of your inventory
I've done this before. Only problem is that when I tried to do the quest as intended, there was no ebony blade for me to pick up cuz I already had it and therefore I couldn't complete the quest, nor could I power the blades enchantment. Better to do it normally

If you have a wooden plate, hold it next to the door and walk forward. You will be able to go through the wall
You might need an extra bowl in your inventory when you do this or you might not be able to get back out

Step 2: put one on floor and put against the wall on the left from door
Step 3: walk through while still holding then jump into room
Step 4: grab ebony blade and other shit
Step 5: repeat step 3 but just fall into the abyss and teleport into dragonsreach again.
Basically you can get it at level 1

when i played i got the damage up to 60 without the swords enchantment i currently have a dragon bone great sword that does 500 damage easy kills for me🤣🤣

Upgrade the two handed skill perk, or like he said, kill friendly NPC's, but he also said that it has a low base damage, because the effect is so powerful
So I got the weapon before I could get the quest and now it won't let me finish the quest or upgrade it. Is there any way to fix this?
In my own experience, the Ebony Blade in this game is no match for pretty much any good smithed two-handed sword. The Ebony blade can't be upgraded with smithing, which means as soon as you start leveling up your smithing ability, and upgrade even a Dwarven two-handed sword, you'll be crushing enemies in just a couple strikes. Meanwhile, the Ebony blade will still take you wailing away at the enemy for 20-30 seconds per target before they finally keel over. Even though the life-drain can keep you alive against fiercer enemies, the time spent swinging away feels more like a chore than actual combat.
Consider it for early game, but consign it to a dusty corner in your treasure room as soon as you can smith weapons to Epic or better.
The neat part is the enchantment never runs out. Meaning you never have to recharge it.

At full power its kinda over powered due to the fact that each strike heals more than drinking a minor healing potion XD plus the fact that you can get this sword (with an exploit) as soon as you walk into whiterun at level 1 - 5, it is just so game breaking XD
Powderboy5 Yeah supposedly there is a way you can obtain the ebony blade at lvl 1, by glitching in to the wall.
The problem with the exploit is that you aren't able to level the enchantment up by killing people so it's not that good if you get it by the exploit.

the easiest way to power up the blade is to get lioness to follow you ( beat her up in a fist fight....she must like being with a hardass) then just get her to follow to ritual stone.... kill her 10 times using the ritual stone to raise her each day before killing her. 10 mins... 10 kills.... full power

The Ebony Blade can be charge without killing a friendly NPC. Give the vampire Hern some fire wood and she will become friendly. Then kill her and Hert, that's your first two souls. Revive them, the ritual stone works well here then kill both again. Fast forward 24 hours before you revive and kill them again. Keep doing this until you have enough souls to charge the Blade. If you are doing the Dark Brotherhood this ties in nicely with the quest to kill them. Shame you don't get extra pay for the extra kills.
ESO does the ebony blades damage increase as you level up or does it remain the same depending on what level you get the ebony blade at

I think the damage depends on your level (idk if it applies to this weapon). But ik for sure that you can make it better by upgrading the Two Handed Skill Tree and killing friendly NPCs

A better list is saddia,The 2 argonians in lights out, The darkbrotherhood assination targets(Nilsine-shattershield,Narfi,Belitid)And the mercenaries or using ritual stone to get the last two
Worth mentioning is that there are a few characters that you have to kill as part of the Dark Brotherhood for whom you can do quests including Narfy. Also during the quest to get Mehrune's Razor I believe you can kill the quest giver and he counts towards the kill count. Also at the end of the dark brotherhood quest line you get the option to kill the quest giver after completely his quest. So there are options for those who don't want to kill anyone that is useful, obtain a bounty or exploiting undead spells.

To get the ebony blade to the max lvl you can get Faendal as a follower go to the Ritual stone activate it and kill Faendal 10 times, kill him use the ritual stone wait 24 hours and repeat.

Making guides for skyrim remastered (which will be exactly the same) is not click bait. Saying things like DE MEGA OP SICK WEAPON IN THE GAME WHICH ONE HIT KILLS EVERYBODY AND MAKES YOU INVINCIBLE ETC ETC ETC.. when that is not the case, that would be click bait. But naming a video logically is most definitely not.

What makes this weapon so weak is you can't improve the damage with smithing,so you have to have 2 handed enchantments on each piece of your armor to get max damage from it.The 30 health absorb is unlimited anyway along with it being the fastest swinging 2 handed weapon in the game.Overall it's a great weapon if your playing on a low difficult setting but if your playing on legendary you might want to consider using something else.

If used on a vampire, in conjunction with necromage it's health steal is effected like all other enchants.
-Also vamp + Necromage + Astronach perk + Atronach stone = 100% spell absorb = spell immunity
-Used in conjunction with damage reduction cap armor
The necessary min maxing takes very little work, aside from leveling alteration to 100, which is easily accomplished. With *unlimited* 37 hp life steal, while immune to all harmful magic and damage reduction capped at 80% you become quite nearly unkillable using this weapon. The amount of damage you take is negligible given how fast this weapon swings in conjunction with the unlimited health steal which even effects targets who block the actual attack. Even on the highest possible game difficulty and the highest levels possible you become an unstoppable wrecking ball which slaughters everything in your path while maintaining nearly perfect hp. Even as a vampire in daylight conditions.
Also of note, even without the resto potion exploit: simply by using alchemic gear to make the best smithing potions you can in conjunction with wearing a set of smithing gear, the damage potential of the ebony blade is quite high even if it will never reach the highest tier other weapons can by virtue of higher base damage. Still, the enchant it provides unlimited use of in conjunction with absolute spell immunity and 80% damage reduction armor cap means you will be nearly incapable of being killed so long as you're thrashing about like a berserker on a bad pcp trip.
Oddly enough the ebony blade is remarkably similar to a weapon I got quite by chance in ES3 Morrowind. Early in one of my saves I was exploring the underground area of a city and came across a deadra shrine in the sewer system. the daedra lord just happened to have a deadric dai katana, one of th best melee weapons in the game. Fantastic stroke of luck that just happened to be what he was spawned with when I entered the sewers. I obviously kept the weapon and eventually I did enchant it with life steal. 50-60 hours of gameplay and a couple of xpacks of content later in morrowind I'd already done most of the quests, beat the official storyline as the nerevarine and was doing the various long chain quests. I was at the very end of the priesthood quest where you meet Vivec in the city of Vivec.
Now, that was the only time you actually get to meet Vivec in person, a legitimate God... so.... I decided to put a save and find out how powerful he was. Sure enough, I killed him. Using a weapon which the ebony blade is almost identical to in form and function. It was pretty much then I had discovered how OP I'd managed to make my character without really knowing. It's one thing to kill NPCs with a fair amount of ease: it's quite another to kill a God of the Tribunal... That was the last time I played that particular save.
Still, gives me a certain amount of nostalgia to use the ebony blade in skyrim. Chopping heads off and seeing that red gleam of hp flood towards me "Ah, this reminds me of that time I killed a God of the tribunal in his own palace of his own city. Good times.... good times."

Since the ebony blade won't go on a weapons rack I want to put it one a table. Will it disappear if I just leave it there or will it stay? (I'm playing on Xbox one)
Mr. Badger Save the game and wait a while, if it does disappear load your saved game.

I discovered about an hour ago that if Hulda is dead and her corpse has despawned u can use cheat room to increase your relationship with the new person running the place and he can give u the quest
you dont have to be level 20 to do the quest you have to be level 12

I don't know if I done this quest before cause I been play skyrim for a very very long time but could you do that quest if your higher then 20 and could you make that Ebony blade to a Deadric blade cause that would be awesome too right.??
You can kill 2 of the entirety of the orc settlements and it should fully charge it after you gain their friendship.

I wabbajacked my ebony blade, & it vanished! I think it went back to ablivion, lucky I saved before I did it. It dose this every time I tried wabbajacking it! Lol. .. nice vid byways
I got the ebony blade at level 4 from a glitch
I'm level 20 and I can't get the option from Hulda. I've been given the other rumors multiple times but she just won't give me the one I want. Please help.
