I wouldn't be surprised if it was urban legend. "Jordan, Minnesota" turned out to be fake news/false allegations. Steve had a tendency to write songs about "dark" stories from the 80's which later proved to be false/made up. Not blaming HIM for it. But there was a lot of fake cult/Satanism/murder stories in the mid 80s. Just really bad shock journalism.
just sayin, steve's wrong. aggravated means the person doing the assailing is trying to kill the victim, or that the assailant used some form of "deadly weapon". still a horrific story though.
In nature, a variety of animals kill their young if they're aware that they're disabled (horses being a good example). A mercy killing to prevent it from going out in life unable to survive on its own and instead only be capable of leeching off of its parents for the duration of its life. Of course in human culture this is not necessarily the case but I can at least understand the mentality of the doctor.
