These things she's talking about are universal. Letting go, feeling the stillness, living in that place where we are not in control, and being OK with that. So many concepts and experiences which can be found also in Buddhism and Taoism. The things she's talking about are not sectarian, or attached to any particular religion or "ism." I've listened to many of these Christian Science lectures, but this is one of the best. There's a light in her eyes, you can feel the playful, spontaneous energy radiating out of her. Really impressive. Whatever "it" is, she's got it, and she is effective at explaining it in a very human way.
I just happened to find your lecture on stillness. I enjoyed every aspect and felt the points that you made should be heard again and again so I have listened many times. You have a natural ability to speak to a crowd of people and you speak with humor, honesty and conviction. I am so impressed with what you know at such a young age and how creatively you share these ideas and so very articulately. At the time I am writing this there is a virus pandemic and what you teach in this lecture is surely the answer for those of us who are struggling with how to handle what seems to be a devastating situation. I learned so much from your talk and I am very grateful for your effort in the movement. Much love for your dedication to God!
Thank you so much for your gracious comments, Constance. We are thankful that you found us! Please let us know if you have any questions. prayerthatheals.org
In your talk you mention the Berlin Wall. I had the unique experience to talk to a Practitioner. Shortly after the Wall came down. She told me the story of the first Wednesday evening meeting held in East Berlin after the removal of the Wall. She said the church was so full that they had to open the windows so people outside could hear. The testimonies lasted for 3 hrs. This is the image I try to bring to my church on Wednesday. Thank you for you talk.
That would have been so amazing to hear the testimonies! The Christian Science church holds testimony meetings on Wednesdays all over the world (for those that don't know). You may find a service either in person, online or by phone: www.christianscience.com/find-us/find-a-church
What a Gracious talk ! God's goodness is not sending us tortured 'issue' stories for us to have no conversation with..[their evil]....but keeps us in perfect peace---or that is to say 'un-dis-eased'. Part of discipling is when to know how to' take heed how we hear' lest we are 'devoured' by being 'who'..?..its tribulated story is 'talking' about.
Thank you- recently confronted with very intimidating claims that have not found healing even with many practitioners help. Getting still is what led me onto this path. The stillness practice was put aside at some point as it was part of a meditation. Not sure if it is too late now but never say never and will put to use the practice ideas. It just one of things that once you start please do give up..

Thanks for putting this on youtube. In Barbados (where I live) I frequently walk for exercise, and also as a way of clearing my mind when the pressure of life seems too great (kind of an oxymoron... walking to find my stillness of mind lol). Anyhow my walk takes me past the Christian Science church and recently I was passing the reading room where I saw a poster advertising this lecture and decided that I would attend because at that moment in time I really needed to feel the healing power of stillness. However I am not a Christian Scientist and there is a stigma to Christian Science that would mean I would be attending alone. Although I do a lot of things alone and enjoy doing so, I did not find the courage to attend the talk, so finding it here was great and it was a very good listen and will help me with remembering to find my peace within. Thanks. BTW I do find Mary Baker Eddy's teaching insightful, did attend the Sunday school as a child and live my life being and sharing love as solutions to all problems, my only issue in her teachings come because... how do I put this? When I have a headache, stomach ache etc... I know my physical body will be healed very quickly taking a painkiller and see no reason not to go that route. I believe I am a spiritual being having a material experience and when my material body needs fixing I will fix it materially. I hope this makes sense. Thanks again.
Hello, Michelle. We are glad that you were able to attend this lecture and that is was beneficial for you! Christian Science is not about getting a quick fix, but a permanent healing by increasing your understanding of your relationship to God. Through Christian Science, people have found a healing method that improves them physically, morally and spiritually, and does not have a list of harmful side effects. Christian Science healing is often quicker and more permanent than managing disease or pain through medical treatment or medications.
