Thanks, Shaelin, I suffer from many of these fears, and more, but I'm determined to overcome them eventually.

Low expectations can help too. Write what you want to read.

Love your encouraging words. I have been writing for over 10 years through the publishing process and the start of each book is always a process. Even after all these years. Thank you for the video.

I hate commenting negative things, but I feel sort of driven to comment...
Of course experience and writing classes can help you, I don't deny that. And I get Shaelin / Reedsy is only on here to mostly make a profit. They do so with classes, writing coaches, editors, artists, etc. Nothing wrong with any of that on its face.
Here's my question - what do you want to accomplish? Just to be a better writer on its own or to be a successful writer?
Successful writers are not known for using "services" like this - they got better through experience or through editors that believed in them. Or they never became "writing-craft" authors and just sort of winged it. Yeah apparently that actual can work for you if you get noticed.
Statistics don't look great either... There are probably only about 1,000 authors in North America who can live by their trade.
I asked Shaelin a few years ago what she had published and received no answer. I would ask the same question of any Reedsy coach or editor because I think it's a very fair question. Why would I give you money if you haven't really accomplished anything? I am not talking about getting a MFA in creative writing, I'm talking about which best seller list did you make it to? Because you probably wouldn't be on Reedsy trying to make a profit off of novice writers if you were successful with your writing.
Here's a step not listed here - just READ. And I am not successful, but I certainly see no reason to trust others who are also not successful. But you can learn a lot about "writing-craft" and be inspired by novels / books you do like. I'm not saying copy them, but it is definitely okay to be influenced and you don't need to do anything besides purchasing their book. And of course write on your own. Write everyday even if it has nothing to do with whatever book you want to write.
That's why I'm writing this until Reedsy blocks me. LOL

Your first point is so similar to a favorite quote of mine: "A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week." -- Gen. George S. Patton.

I sit in my car in the morning waiting for the doors for work to open, and I voice record my story in word. Now I have to go through and figure out what I said. The editing will be brutal, but at least I technically have at least half the word count I require.

Trying to armor yourself against any and all failure just leads to armor too massive to function at all
