I just cannot overstate the craziness that this craft is STILL able to communicate with us here on little ol earth.
Yet I loose signal going through a tunnel
They KNEW how to build probes 50 years ago. !
@@MajorPaxton-ch9flto be fair, there’s a lot of concrete between you and the cell tower when you’re in the tunnel whereas being on the phone with voyager is a clean straight shot all the way through the universe 😂
@@kaarstynahh man, There must be some asteroids, probably even planets or atleast moons in the way of signal, at least sometimes.
@@BG8950Space is so vast theres plenty of room for a signal to reach straight to earth
Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11 and New Horizons. They will sail for millions of years, perhaps billions. One day they might be the only remnants not only of Humanity, but the Earth as well.
Damn ....
Till it hits some shitstar in the middle of nowhere
@@j4y625 There is zero chance of that happening for the next 40,000 years at least. Even then the odds are overwhelmingly tiny. Could it happen in several million years or so? Sure. But space is _vast_ and _empty._
@@mcarp555 Oh yeah agreed, but this person said it will sail millions/and or billions of years which at that point it would be unlikely that it wouldn't hit anything in that long ass time period
@@j4y625 _I'm_ that person. And it's entirely possible that these craft could go for millions or billions of years without hitting anything, least of all a star. Just like in roughly five billion years, when the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies merge, the chances of any two stars colliding are also quite low. Because as I said, space is vast and empty.
We need to send more upgraded voyeurs to space. 😊
They can get a signal from 15 million miles in space, but my wifi never works properly.
15 billion miles
15 billion miles; and its a different kind of signal
Have you tried unplugging and plugging it back in?
You'd have good wi-fi too, if your router was the only one around for 15 billion miles...😏
You pay like 60 bucks or so a month. Do you know much money goes into the ISS? A lot.
Breaking!! The message has been decoded: “New phone, who dis?”
😂😂😂
“Delete my number fam”
Lol
😂
Good one! I laughed out loud!
WOW! That's Amazing! My Mother worked on Voyager 1 back in the Day. So glad it's still calling home!
The little interstellar probe that could❤❤❤
One day we will catch up to Voyager. The debate will be whether to allow it to continue its journey or bring it back and put it on display at the Aerospace Museum.
"We" being you and which specific identifiable interlocutor?
Actually, the odds suggest that we'll have a better chance of catching up to it as opposed to any possible alien race coming across it, or it being drawn towards another star or star system. btw, neither odds are very good, so I'll take a pass.
@@michaellong5714 Based on the research we are doing now and the natural progression of innovation. Human beings will catch up to Voyager the journey will be in days not years. Maybe even in minutes.

And yet my wifi internet at home 🏡 in Toronto is breaking up every night 🤨
Canada needs better internet service
Yes and it cant even work beyond 50 feet!
Just what people who keep voting for Trudeau deserve.
Hey did you mean to say your wife is breaking up with you every night.
Because youre using wifi, which is a signal traveling through the air. Many other signals are also traveling through the air that could disrupt it. As well as your walls can have metal in them and if there is enough metal it could also block that signal. Best bet is always try to hard line your internet for the strongest connection.
The radio operators at Nasa has cred.
Awesomeness!!!!
Amazing!
I wonder how Gene Rodenberry’s ‘star trek the motion picture’ came up with the Plot in 1979 for Voyager’s return as Vyger the alien. -Seems that plot is coming true now😮

And there is no link to the video.
😖
Good job they sent it a "polk"!
I hope they get it up and running again. It's nuclear power only has a life span of 50yrs. It's on year 46.
It takes about 45 hours to communicate back and forth.
We need to send out some more probes with our newer technology. New sensors, new communication systems, even a new air freshener hanging from the rear view mirror!
I hope it’s positive news, we’ve been through a lot recently.
Amazing
Voyager’s message back to NASA: “Damn it’s cold out here. And could someone please turn on a light?”
Perhaps we could launch a relay station to give chase to Voyager so communication can continue?
Realy I like this video
I think a sassy alien saw Voyager and decided to have a little fun with us lowly humans. The message will read: Kilroy was here.
this is true Rapid Application Development.
The signal coming through after all this time: “E”

They will probably use AI to help decipher it.
Whole ancient libraries as well😊😊😊
AI needs to be taught the language or it will make its own and be indecipherable to us
Why would they do that? It's a memory dump, there's no application for ML in reconstructing it
How is it that after traveling 40 some odd years and with all the space debris that it hasn't been destroyed by some small rock flying around at astronomical speeds. Some outside force has been its guardian.
“Dont worry, I just had a few too many drinks last month.”

What I find interesting is it was obviously in some error state and wasn’t communicating properly, but they managed to convince it to spit out every bit of data it has on board. With that they can figure out why it’s off, adjust the communication style, and maybe get another 40 years out of that thing.
What I want to know is how its solar arrays and batteries still hold a charge after all this time 👀
@kaarsty It doesn't have solar arrays, nor a battery. It uses a thermoelectric generator powered by the heat generated by the radioactive decay of an isotope of plutonium. As the years have passed, the plutonium has been steadily decaying, and consequently the power levels have been dropping.
@@gildardorivasvalles6368how much longer does he have? A long time? How much power does it generated? A 9 volt battery?
@@calgreg2569 I don't know how long it will last, just that it is slowly diminishing its output power. Somewhere I read it's generating around 200 Watts or a little more, which is not enough to power all the systems anymore, but it should be enough for communication and some other electronics. As to the operating voltage, I have no idea for what it was designed -- power and voltage are not the same thing, though they may be related, but the exact connection should depend on the particular design of the power generator. Or it may be working at a fixed voltage, just the current may vary depending on the total amount of power it can produce.
@@gildardorivasvalles6368 that is REALLY cool thank you for sharing 😃
"Maybe!" two years. It's getting close. If we had an array on the moon, we could easily keep in touch. But the power supply is deteriorating, getting cooler.

This great and astonishing news, its amazing how they fixed this latest issue! It's all fantastic can't wait to see what they find!
It hasn't been fixed, and may well be unfixable. But with the reset and memory dump, they should be able to find the location of the problem. Beyond that is anyone's guess.
Outstanding. God speed voyager.

*If* true, but how can you verify it for yourself?
The team of engineers of Voyager 1 and 2 who work on these . they are genius and great people great scientists. I think they should be given great scientists award . because they were the best engineers in this world that time .
Now l feel that the voyager one has done its target to travel Interstellar space . We all will be shocked if it sends signal asking permission to comeback to mother planet. Oneway journey is endless without making any return journey. Hopefully we all surprised to witness a great historical event.

Please stop using ... as a pause in your sentences to try and make them sound more impactful. It just makes you sound uneducated. There is punctuation in the English language that does this called a period and a comma. Utilize them properly and they'll do the same thing.
Very cool. 😎
Why not send one more satellite to act as a signal repeater/ amplifier?
Any spacecraft we sent towards Voyager would not be close enough to serve as a signal booster until long after Voyager's power supply has failed. That is the problem. I mean it's been traveling for 47 years and is 15 billion miles away.
This is friggin' incredible. There better be at least one scientist at NASA that can decode it. 🤞🤙✌️
