    a couple of years ago i thought it would be a great idea to make a couple of dozen of these stars and give them away to friends and family for Christmas presents. I spent 4 hours trying to make one. I bought several tins of chocolates instead.

    thanks Opa! Yeah, to have my daughter, Laurel, in their helping and working on making her own little projects is the best. I want to make sure she is a handy and knows how things work and luckily she is naturally curious about the mechanical nature of things like me. what little blessing she is!! thanks again my friend and Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you and your loved ones as well!!!❄❄❄❄☃⛄🎄🎄🎁🎉🎉

    I know you posted a link to show us what angle to cut and how it;s all done. But, why wouldn't you explain what you are doing, what angle, any difficulties...just speak! I would never sub to a channel where one can not speak...we watch these to learn, and if one doesn't explain then it is useless...Dam, if I want no narration, then I would go watch a silent film.

    Brilliant! I appreciate you noting "lessons learned" and fixing errors. I'm very very amateur woodworker so it's nice to see accomplished woodworkers showing they don't building everything perfectly first try every time. lol Thank you.

    Some things seem so easy to make and then in reality it turns out far more difficult.
    Many angles, many opportunities to make mistakes.
    (only if you don't do anything, you don't make mistakes)
    Great build in the end. Thanks for sharing.

    I find your video because I am looking at doing a project with stars. I couldn’t help but notice your Dewalt Saw! My husband recently died and had one just like that he was rebuilding. I need to find a home for it. Do you happen to know someone looking for one?

    • @VintageWoodWorkshop
      @VintageWoodWorkshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, sorry to hear about your husband. No I don't know anyone but I would post it on Craigslist. That would be the easiest way to find a buyer. Best of luck!

    How long are the pieces?

  • @Alancen1
    @Alancen1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What are the measurements for the pieces for the different sized stars you do? On the link it only showed you measurements for one size star. Thanks.

    • @SineEyed
      @SineEyed 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The dimensions of a regular polygon are scalable. Put the measurements that were given into a ratio, then pick whatever length you want one of the sides to be. Then just apply the ratio to the length you chose to get the measurement of the other piece.
      I would suggest starting from scratch though. Work out all the angles and such on paper. Learn its geometry inside and out. Once you understand the nature of the thing you're trying to build, building it is trivially easy. It's a _much_ more rewarding process, I think..

    Hi ich hoffe du kannst das übersetzen vom deutschen ins englischen
    Du musst erst die inneren Winkel zusammen Leimen und nageln oder Schrauben und dann erst die äußeren spitzen das geht viel einfacher

    I was cringing when I saw you nailing so close to your fingers...good thing that there were no knots to deflect the nails. Great "The Good Shirt." A definite classic movie that my youngest daughter and I used to watch together(now in Grad School and too busy to sit and talk). I tried to refrain from family stuff but your two videos have taken me back 23yrs, me working the night shift(back on nights again) and watching my youngest daughter when my wife went to work. Now wife, mother-in-law are home, and daughters, sons and grandchildren keeps me smiling(as long as they don't get mom and mother-in-law angry). Reg

    • @VintageWoodWorkshop
      @VintageWoodWorkshop  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Reg! I know I've shot a pin nail into my finger before as it bent 90 degrees hitting a knot like you said. Some good family memories there for you! I try to show my daughter helping out to encourage more Dad's to get their kids involved and not have their shops be off limits. Sadly I have some Dads comment how they regret not spending more time with their own kids when they were young. Take care -Kyle

      Vintage Wood Workshop yes time well spent and glad that our children have their independence now. My father is 91 and regretted for not being there but I learned something during my Chiefs Induction 10yrs ago from CMDCM Harlin & Lindsey(Naval Air Station Willow Grove PA) "No Regrets." To all the dad's out there, it's never too late to talk to your children. Another great start for my day on the night shift.
