- Shawn Mendes gets extremely personal in this new interview with ‘Extra’s’ Katie Krause, opening up about writing ‘When You’re Gone’ a month after he and Camila Cabello broke up. Mendes shares that he talked to Camila about the song before releasing it and later reveals if he’s ready to start dating again. Shawn explains their shared puppy, Tarzan, is currently with Camila in Miami but that he ‘misses him.’ Shawn talks about his next studio album and if we will finally get that Niall Horan collab. The singer also talks about hanging with the cast of ‘Euphoria’ at the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Shawn’s new song and the music video for the track are out now.

i love how open he is about his feelings. that's what makes him a good artist. being vulnerable and sharing that with the world is never easy.
Do you mean open about his feelings in songs or interviews? Because those are rather different.
I immediately think of The Weeknd, who's arguably also very open about his feelings through his music, but for one - the messages are almost always vague and let you interpret them for yourself, and the other thing is, he almost never gives interviews about his music, let alone his personal life.
His spirit is really incredible for a man. I’m sorry to say that but he really has so much divine feminine energy and he has healing energy. I wish more men were able to be as soft with themselves as he is. I think our world would be much more gentle.
@@mole1596 the thing abt shawn is he's open in both his songs and interviews. in terms of artists like the weeknd who leave it up to audience interpretation, i admire that. it's the mystery that keeps the audience listening and the fact that many can relate it to their personal situations.

They always had something bad to say about them both and with people saying “it’s a publicity stunt” etc. I’m trying to think if the paparazzi/headlines/haters ruined it. I hope not but I honestly won’t be surprised

I love how he's so open about his anxiety. I'm a huge believer in making mental health a part of our everyday conversation. That is how I try to be in my life in hopes that if my friends or family are struggling with anxiety they can come to me because they know I know what they're going through and I've been there too. You can tell from their "I know what you did last summer" collaboration. They had interviews and stuff and he'd always be making eye contact w her even when she wasn't looking. And ofc he also admitted to having wrote ALL his songs for her. And camila pretty much rejected and friend zoned him for years until that Matthew guy dumped her himself

they asked such personal questions and he answered them like it was no big deal, the way this guy is able to be so open....
He answered like no big deal because he was coached, he spoke about being coached during his Wonder erra, he said can't you tell I'm speaking more freely because he felt connected to the subjects. He has been groomed by the industry since he was 15, he is back answering questions robotically. Notice in another interview he talks about seeing pictures of her before they were together and he use to say he had feelings now he says when he sees the picture Wow, then goes on to say he felt same during the time together and even now seeing pictures of her Wow. What he is doing is being groomed by his team/publicist covering all the the fans and skeptics concerns of how he could have loved her, not see a picture and say Wow, but he use to say he loved her all those years, so he is covering all these topics to put them aside so comments will be squashed but he is not answering like Shawn use to answer and it is so obvious. I kept going over and over thinking why was his answers off and this is why

Very nice interviewer/interview. I like Shawn Mendes and Camila as artists and they seem to be so nice. I still question how fair it is for the media and fans to ask deep personal questions. Our society is too intrusive and disrespectful towards entertainers. They don't own the public any explanation of their personal lives. Haven't we crossed a line? Thinking out loud.

Actually they were the ones who displayed every detail of their relationship so it’s quite expectable that the media asks intrusive questions. Also, he doesn’t seem to be bothered by them, he answered every question comfortably
I usually would agree and say the same things, but their relationship actually had business perks for their careers. So I think this was inevitable due to the business aspect.
Everyone says that he's literally the nicest person in Hollywood. I feel so bad for him that he's heart broken right now but we got two great songs out of it. And I'm so glad that "When you're gone" has a dance beat instead of being sad and depressing.

It's refreshing to see a celebrity be open
god i love this man so much. at one point he was my whole world, the comfort of him made everything better. but then i grew up, i got busy with my life, with my future. i still am so so busy but every once in a while i will see a video or a picture on my fyp or feed and my heart combusts with the nostalgia and pride. over the past couple of weeks ive really been reconnecting with shawn and realising he will alway be so special to me.
