To cover up those holes from the license plate, get some flat top Christmas tree pins, paint them with some touch up paint and then install them. Yes they'll appear bigger than the holes, but will be less obnoxious. Almost look like sensor array.
Spendy but a company called , for real, bumper plugs, sells just this. They are painted to match with correct auto paint and look about as good as you can with a hole in the bumper.
Exactly. That’s what I did on my Flex for less than a few bucks, at Lowes. My Flex is black, but if it bothered me that much I’d hit it with touchup paint for less than Bumper Plugs charges.
Just replace the Carmax plate and put on something else. My Jeep didn’t have a front bracket when I bought it Arizona (one plate state), had to get a bracket and front plate when I moved to Ohio ( 2 plate state). Ohio is now a one plate state. Too much trouble to remove the bracket and fill the holes.
My 2017 volt was the worst car I've ever owned. 13 check engine lights. 5 strandings. Chevy replaced the big battery at 8000 miles but the strandings started at 25000 miles. Luckily I leased. Never again will I buy a Chevrolet
Bravo JR upgrading to a Gen 2 Volt. I too had a Gen 1 and now a 2016 Gen 2 same gray tone as yours. Super car for the money. 43mpg gas and 53 miles on electric alone at 78k miles. PS check cabin filter...dealers don't typically do them.
My 2018 Chevy Volt Premier with ACC , only has 9500 miles, bought new. I do love the car, but has issues. I've had the notorious shift to park problem fixed and had to fight with GM for reimbursement for the repair. Within 2 years, my brake booster failed and had to be replaced under warranty. One month after the 3 year warranty, the brake booster failed again. I had to fight with the dealer and GM to get help due to the warranty expiring the month before. After a couple months, they agreed to fix it again if I paid an additional 600. Had it repaired again and as I left the dealership, the break booster started making the same rapping noise. I immediately brought my Volt back to the dealer 10 minutes later. They called GM and told me this is a characteristic of the car and could not help me any more. I'll never be able to sell this car with this issue... With only 9500 miles.
The Bolt is your answer. 255-mile range, but it looks like hell. I love my Volt and just wish the put the Bolt technology in that instead of discontinuing it.
A guy at work has getting a bit over 70 miles in his gen 2. The best I could do in a '13 gen 1 was about 49 miles. That was totalled and a Bolt replaced it.

My Cadillac SRX is the same way, was going to remove the big ugly mount but since its riveted it leaves those ugly holes. I ended up just leaving it and buying a custom printed state plate on Amazon.
I came upon your channel when researching the Volt. My father-in-law had one before he passed, and they've always intrigued me. I'm looking to buy a used/new car now and I'm looking at 2017-2019 Volts or a new Honda Civic. I know they are wildly different cars but I'm still having trouble deciding to go in on a used Volt. Here is the problem for me. From just a cost savings perspective I'm not seeing the math work out when it comes to the potential gas savings v. the potential cost of a new EV battery. The concern I keep coming back to is most used Volts have anywhere from 30k to 80k miles from what I've seen out there. If the battery warranty is up or close to up, then I'm on the hook for a new battery if it were to go out. Searching stories on those I see price tags near $30k. So, given that let's say I'm all in for $55k after a new battery. If I spent $200/month on fuel I'd break even in about 23 years. I have other reasons for liking the Volt but I just can't get my head around the potential cost of the battery replacement. Have you thought about the battery replacement? I'm sure you have the skills to replace it yourself and maybe even rebuild a bad one with fresh cells but that's no easy task if you're not a mechanic with some decent EV skills. I appreciate your videos and I'll keep watching to see how your car does for you.
From my own researching service estimates the max it would cost me is about $6,000 for a new Volt battery installed. I've also heard a lot of the remaining original (2011) owners are driving just fine in 2024 on the original packs. I was worried but I really shouldn't have been. Go for it if it's not too late

At a minimum change the oil every two years, regardless of the miles on the ICE or the oil service % display. I change my oil once a year on my gen1 volt, regardless of the miles on the oil. Also gen2 Volts like yours are DI only with no port injection so you may need intake valve cleaning even with low ICE usage. Also the water cooled EGR is problematic. The biggest issue with the gen2 is the BMC going bad from some kind of defect. Good luck
I have a basic 2018 gen2 volt, looks identical to yours. Bought it off of Vroom. A taxicab crinkled and scratched the passenger side. I have never heard of ceramic coating, so once I get the damage fixed, I will absolutely look into the coating! It only has 21k miles on it and I need to daily drive it for the next decade or so. I only use the ICE for out of state drives, which are maybe twice a year. It is already telling me to change the oil, but maybe I can do that just once a year at safety inspection time.
My Porsche did that once in a while, randomly at stoplights. Turns out it was a issue with the PPF film on the front bumper. I removed the film from the parking sensors circles and that solved the issue.

I agree about the gen 1 style, it reminded me of the old Subaru SVX, especially the rear. But if I were to buy one I'd go for 2nd gen, sadly, for the various improvements.

Ceramic coated every square inch eh? Does that include wipers, tires, and windows? 😁
i thought it was illegal to waste water in california now
I'm in a mandatory front license plate state and the dealers here do not attach the front bracket... especially Tesla.
The Volt looks good!
With the atom being so light and hp not really being crazy, I don't think you need such a heavy clutch. Really think you could go with a better clutch to make the car more joyable driving.
Good job 👍👍
JR to Get the race off the hub put the hub on something you can spin it on race facing down take a torch and heat the race while you’re spinning the hub it’ll just fall off
When will you be finishing the Detail Guys studio? All that work installing drains and feeds and nothing complete yet. What's up?
After you did the ceramic treatment the car was really sheeting itself.
I should've gotten a Volt. Seriously, why would you remove the HOV lane sticker? That's a very highly desirable feature. Wish I had one here in Los Angeles.
Most people don't understand the rarity. Many states have lotteries, even if you do have an EV/PHEV.
@@fitybux4664 oh, I had no idea. Here in California, it is automatic. When I bought my Mach-e, I filled out an online form, paid $23 and received my stickers in the mail a few weeks later. It is a huge benefit coming home from work. Probably saves 20 minutes from a one-hour 20-mile drive.
Use a cutoff wheel to score the inner race that's stuck. Then hit it with a chisel and 2 lb club hammer and it'll crack.
What song is playing at 7:15?
Volt looks great 👍 👌
Many paint that part of the front grill flat black so it blends with the lower bumper instead of the buck tooth look.
Which one do you like better, the first gen or this? I loved first gen body style. Very unique
I agree about the gen 1 style, it reminded me of the old Subaru SVX, especially the rear. But if I were to buy one I'd go for 2nd gen, sadly, for the various improvements.
Anyone who wants a "unique" car should just go ahead and buy a Prius. The Volt gen 2 is great BECAUSE it just looks like a normal car. 😁 (But it's secretly a super-car.)
Question : Why do you shift your lever to "Low' instead of 'Drive'? I saw that in your previous video also...
Doesn't that put the car in max regen for one pedal electric driving? 🤷♂
Regent braking setting. One setting let's you coast, the other will apply regen as soon as you aren't on the throttle.
let us know if the front tag holes start whistling at speed! 🙀
A few pieces of packing tape will fix that right up! 😁
Put plastic rivets{trim trees} and paint them body colour
At least Carmax used a proper tag bracket on your car. The dumbasses in Georgia just screwed the Carmax tag and plate frame straight into the bumper. It was a ridiculous fight to get them to repair it.
One question popped into my head when reading your comment. Did they use self tapping screws as the cherry on top?
@@DDdrifter indeed they did
I hate living in a front plate state
JR ... Can we go for a rip in the S-10 If we did that I missed it.
