It's Ninja Gaiden, but by Hudson and made for the TurboGrafx-16. It's kinda crazy to imagine how this could've ever come about, but the game is pretty good.
Honestly this version is WAY better then the SNES version sure the music isn't as good but the graphics and gameplay are still the same great job Hudson and Tecmo

Beat the nes game as a kid seeing this version on the turbografx 16 mini and finally playing it pretty much a whole generation later was cool. I also beat the xbox and PS3 versions also worth playing. tecmo really made some excellent games!
Needless to say, this is what the SNES port should've been. The graphics have so much more detail (even though the parallax scrolling is "jarring" at best) and the gameplay is slightly more forgiving than the NES version. Even though the soundtrack doesn't have the same level of quality as the original, it still sounds pretty good. I particularly liked "Stage 1-1/5-2/6-3 (25:39)" and "Stage 4-2" (19:35). The revised English translation is also well written; Although, it does admittedly annoy me that you must hold buttons "I," "II" & "Select" in order to enable English mode. Why couldn't there have been a proper language selection menu at the title screen?

Honestly besides the NES classic this is a VERY good version of Ninja Gaiden great updated graphics some of the NES music is well remixed here and I love when you pick a time power up the screen goes black and white a very convenient detail the NES didn't have P.S I love the PC Engine too bad they're pretty expensive though for a pre SNES/Genesis era 16 bit console it was pretty ahead of it's time.
This is cool but I like the HD remake a fan made he only sells it for 4 bucks. I plan to buy it and play it watch it on TH-cam. The image of the video was called Ninja What!? Idr the name but was a pretty cool play through.

I never had a chance to play ninja gaiden 1 back in days, I was 5-6 and had my hands on ninja gaiden 2 and am strong fan for ninja gaiden 2, still playing it via retroarch, wish you made new one soon.
If I'm not mistaken, you did post an older playthrough of this years ago, and from what I remember, I said that the script in this version is much closer to the original Japanese. Foster actually says, "You're not that stupid, are you?", like he originally said.

Wow those scrolling mountains in the back are getting me sick the movement is terrible everything else looks way better. The music is also a considerable drop
The PC Engine only has one background layer, so it's just shifting tiles every 8 pixels to simulate another layer. Watch it in slow motion and you'll see it doesn't update all at once, making it even more nauseating.
What's funny is how this series doesn't know what it really is. One side is called a side story while the other is called a legend, and in another part, Shadow Warriors. Totally wild if you think about it.
“Ninja Ryukenden” makes more sense given how important the sword is in the story. Blame the people in charge of localization back then who thought such changes were good. Same for the Ryu Ga Gotoku series which thankfully now has its name changed from “Yakuza” to “Like a Dragon” internationally
"Gaiden" never made sense because it wasn't a spin-off of anything. Even if they thought Ryuukenden was a mouthful, they could've called it Ninja Kenden or Dragon Kenden.
So they could copy the entire game, plot and graphics within the systems limitations, but they couldn't copy the badass music of the original? 😅 Ninja Gaiden was my favorite series on the NES, and I beat all 3 as a kid! The travesty! 🎶🎵😄 Jk, not a bad job Taito. Nice find!! 🫠👍🥷
Im not entirely sure whats wrong with this games Soundtrack except for that one track that sounds like Circus Music... I honestly prefer this soundtrack to its NES Counterpart. Especially the Stage 1 & 2 Music!
It's a crying shame; especially considering that other NES classics like Castlevania, Megaman, Contra and even TMNT have all been ported over to next-gen systems at the very least. I speak for everyone when I say that the Ninja Gaiden NES trilogy deserves an HD remake.
For once I'd like to see a professional remake daring to use modern pixel art instead of replacing it all with polygons and textures. The later two games in the trilogy especially are so beautiful already as they are, I can't help but know that a full 3D overhaul would sacrifice that beauty.
My apologies if I am repeating myself from something I said in another video: Where was it established that the final boss was named Jashin? That name is not mentioned in the manual.
His original name was Jaki-Ou (Devil King), which was intentionally mistranslated for the Western releases, possibly to avoid the word "devil". For the PC Engine version, he was renamed Jashin-Ou (Evil God King).
Despite the busted parallax and the janky new soundtrack, this has a million times more SOVL and effort put into it than the garbage SNES 'port'. Just makes you aggravated thinking what could've been.

The cutscenes and translations seem a little better in this version but good gawd the music is awful compared to the NES version. Everything sounds so upbeat and whimsical like it should be in a Megaman game. 😂
The more I explore other game systems on YT such as Turbo Graphics 16, Sharp X6800 Sega Master System Commodore Amiga etc.... I come to realize NES 8 BIT was tremendously overrated POS and just had an excellent marketing team and licensing for games
It was a combination of having excellent first party titles and running an illegal monopoly, which until the early 90s prevented all of the best third party publishers from releasing games for the competing platforms. They also paid off major retail chains not to carry competing hardware and did a lot of other shady crap. A Japanese court finally put a stop to it back in 1991. Still, the Famicom/NES was an excellent piece hardware for 1983 and the cartridge helper chips also allowed it to do stuff that it was never designed for, often going beyond what we saw on the Master System. Its audio chip was arguably significantly superior too.

These three games have been my favorite NES since I was a kid. I had no idea this existed. Still…… it’s nothing without the original soundtrack.

Well, they were bundling 3 games into one so I am perfectly fine with the SNES version. Basically it is an early interpretation of a remaster
If anyone want to play a new game in the Ninja Gaiden style, I can recommend Cyber Shadow. It is a love letter to the original Tecmo trilogy.

It's own soundtrack is a bit hit-or-miss but they could've done better with that wonky parallax scrolling.

Graphically, it looks great, aside from the bad scrolling in the background. The music from the NES version is way better, especially the first stage.

Great version,the color is awesome,but the nes is more nostalgic.and the sound like a genesis.
While this is superior in graphics in just doesn't have the nostalgia the best version does. The music in the nes version is much better though
