doctor leon todd phd in modeler experimentation
You said in the Q&A this was one of your favorites, and here's further evidence why. This thing can really hold its head up in the company of the high dollar units.
Leon, I think you're gonna blow up in 2024 as a TH-cam guitarist. Quality of vids is awesome, keep up the good work. 🎉
Thanks mate, I appreciate the kind words!
I have really dug in and made some monster tones with my Boss GX100. Would love some more content on this underrated unit.
Oh! My question answered, thank you! Mine arrived yesterday and this setup works like a charm. Easy to chew up DSP, but that's understandable. Piezo and Magnetic blend gives you so many tones. Thank you for the tips, I'll certainly try them in my patch.
Glad I could help!
Super interested in Hotone. Great video explaining the power of the pedal.
Glad you liked it!
Get a FM3.
After watching a ton of your vids on modelers, I pulled the trigger on this unit. So glad I did! I refuse to pay $2k for a modeler, so this one fits the bill for all my needs. Looking forward to future tutorials to help me dial this sucker in! You Rock Leon!😎🤘🎸
Hope you dig it mate, they've crammed a lot in there!
Thank you very much for the video! You’re great! Still, I’ll ask you again to describe in your videos the features of setting up the microphone and the OTG function in action; on TH-cam you are the most detailed reviewer of this processor so far! Thank you for your work!
Another excellent informed & useful review! And the 2nd Stage II ive seen from you. The amp pathways was good but the acoustic split was just fantastic. Such abgreat sound but demo'd so well! As a multi fx box over the last 3 years years for this price this one is a no brainer. Thnx. I have old school Hotone pedals (15 x Skylines) but this thing isbtempting too cos its so easy.
Great review
for live performances in a club or stadiums it is really great!
Great, thank you!
You are welcome!
Sounds good and a lot of function, lots of choice these days, amps with fx, guitars with fx, standalone fx, pedals with amps and fx, what a great time to play guitar! 😄😄😄
Couldn't agree more!
Great video Leon, really helpful tutorial.. I have one of these Ampero units on order.. more vids like this please. Maybe how to use with a real amp or power amp
there are definitely some valid criticisms out there regarding the ampero stuff, but i absolutely love it. huge improvements over the stomp unit
What are some of the criticism? I'm curious because i have a few modelers but am interested in this unit big time and i haven't heard really anything bad.
@@bjquebedeaux3597 One criticism is the latency, particularly with the Stomp, was initially 10 ms (with update about 6ms) they have something really off going on with the cab blocks. I can't find any information on this units latency. Also the available DSP power really gets eaten up quick. I don't it is possible to use all 12 blocks without chewing up all the DSP and its certainly not possible to use whatever you want on those 12 blocks - the unit will block you. Still for the price/features it's good little unit.
@@vaughanmacegan4012 Thanks for the information! I realized as i asked the question that i remembered hearing about the DSP which is not a huge concern for me. I didn't know about the latency but i believe a video was just made on that topic yesterday although i have not watched it yet.
@@vaughanmacegan4012 here's a really good video regarding the Ampero Stage's latency th-cam.com/video/U_RhxjDSV40/w-d-xo.htmlsi=WqN-QwUbhxrBmZlY
Just bought one!
Great VIDEO as always interested in seeing if they’ll be bringing in intelligent pitch shifting with the DTuning like we have in the Fractal audio.
Hi Leon , question do you feel any latency ? also how many blocks can you use before you run out of CPU in general , if you use like a HD plate can you still get another 5 or 6 blocks in there would you say it about the same as the HX stomp in terms of CPU power , also can you show the Bogner XTC Red and Freidman HBE when you have a moment
Hi Leon. On the app can be upload presets where others can download them to try them out and regarding updates is it like the quad cortex where you can just back it up dead easy and do it through wifi or is it like the old Mooer stuff where you have to back it all up and then download the last software etc which was a bit of a ball ache. Thanks in advance
I can imagine the acoustic simulation would be great for covering songs that use both and you don't want to carry one around and use a stand.
Great video, could you give more tips and tricks to dial great tones for this unit? like edge of breakup fender tone, clean jazz tone, funky tones, acoustic tones etc would be much appreciated if you can do that for one of your video for this unit. Thanks for the tutorial!
You sound great! Is it possible to download your presets for Ampero somewhere?
Good demo, been following you for years and the question is any demo of the Rocktron Prophesy II with the Allaccess midi controller as it becomes a pain changing from clean to crunch whe using is as a preset so ended up using one preset with clean but then the input volume wush is manual needs to be race down and ended up loosing drive. Any help will be really appreciated. Victor from Panama Central America.
will this processor be able to output 3 signals? one guitar signal to the stack, one guitar signal to FOH and a vocal signal to FOH?
Is the Editor/Librarian display window resizable? I usually sit away from my computer monitor, so getting the window to open up "big" really helps.
Does the Looper have "auto sensing" so it starts recording when it "hears" the guitar start playing? I find having to press a button to start recording annoying, and totally impractical when a Modeler is physically sitting on my desk.
Do you have a possibility to ask when all this firmware features come to stomp 2? As both units have the same processing power and ampero stomp 2 users more then 2 years are waiting for scenes functionality
Good afternoon please tell me, is it possible to simply disable cabinet emulation in the global menu without changing the circuit?
12:14 Trains!
You got it!!!
@@LeonTodd
Can you show how to hook the ampero stage II into a tube amp using the four cable method?
Uncle Leon, hx stomp vs axe fx 2, for tracking? Just amps not interested in fx much.
Can u create a signal having a clean tone rhythm and lead in stomp mode
As if u were gonna play a live gig?
Heya, do you know if it’s possible to have more than 2 signal chains, eg have a guitar into input one, mic into input 2 keys into input 3, all going to separate outputs? Or is it a max of 2 chains? Thanks
Max 2
00:35 cool mockup names :)
hi there, i have some worries about this unit, i'm in love with its design, quality etc. but i haven't found enough information about how well it handles both guitar and microphone processing. i learned that it's not powerful enough to use a bunch of effects with two separate guitars. I hope that vocal processing doesnt require as much cpu as a guitar signal does. Because i want to use it on stage with both my microphone and electric guitar at the same time and i want to make sure it's capable of that before making my purchase. I'd appreciate any insight.
Hey Leon! Does the Ampero looper have a "Once" feature for the stop? Where it plays out the remaining of the current loop playing and then stops? Or only the one hard stop option?
Sounds great! What is the signal chain for the sound we're hearing? Is it the Ampero with its onboard processing directly into your computer completely in the digital realm? Are we hearing any kind of analog Amp in your room with a Mic recording the sound?
The Editor/Librarian display is beautiful, and relaxing to look at. Thanks
Ampero XLR outs to my interface and straight into logic pro. No post processing
@@LeonTodd 👍
Can you use this to run FX in front of an amp as well as in it's FX loop?
Can you use one of the outputs as a DI while the other has the emulation of the amplifiers?
?Hi, Do you record each signal to separate tracks
Great review like always 😊
And now the big question will you show us the vocal side of this unit 😊
Will you sing for us 😊
Ill spare everyone the horror
@@LeonTodd awwww🥺🥺🥺
Can you play guitar while singing in a mic through this?
Can you use guitar input and microphone inputs at the same time?
Yes
Arrrgh! The more you show us this unit....the more surprising it is. It really does seem like it's going toe to toe with bigger brand's?
Hello brother, I watch you from Brazil, congratulations on the channel, I would like to ask a question! I'm going to buy a pedalboard and I'm in doubt, which one to buy, between the Ampero Stage 2, Nux Trident, Mooer GE1000 pedalboard, which one has the best sound quality? Thank you in advance brother, big hug!
Probably the Ampero IMO
Finally a feature in the Ampero that resembles the POD X3 of 20 years ago
Great video, ampero stage ii is running the same price as a used ax8 in the USA. What would be your pic?
Leon Todd is a Fractal artist - so guess 😡.
The ax8 is a great unit. I sold it after I got the fm9. At this point, you can do a lot more options with the ampera than the AX8 (with the exception of amps). The Ampera has all of the features of a modern modeler. I just sent the ampera II stomp back, and I'm getting the stage. I am impressed by the stomp, but I wanted the extra options. I would not say that the sounds are any better than the AX8.
The only problem is the midi. It doesn't work after months after the product is on sale. Very bad brand strategy, no official communications or post on socials that explains why they sell a unit with midi in and out that doesn't work at all. It sounds amazing but the lack of communication from the brand gives me bad bad vibes and is the reason for dont buy the stage
piecho
PLEASE BE AWARE BEFORE BUYING A HOTONE AMPERO II STAGE:
1. MIDI OUT is not working (yet). I contacted Hotone about this but they can't confirm if this 'feature' will be fixed anywhere in 2024.
2. You cannot RENAME Scenes to 'Intro', 'Chorus' etc. It will just be 'Scene 1', 'Scene 2', etc.
Just so you know.
Sadly With these devices , you have to keep in mind that there won't be much updates in the future Instead the company will release just new hardware products...
Your tone at home will NOT sound as good as Leon's. His set up is better. I had the II and was not impressed with any tones other then clean. My FM9 however sounded killer. Set up and modeler matters...and the player of course.
So, a if a person can't afford a FM9 which costs 3 times as much as the Ampero Stage, so, what do you do? Hmmm what? Buy nothing? Is that your answer? Fractal or nothing ... you Fractal fanbois are stupid. You could buy a Helix, TMP, HeadRush Prime, Kemper Stage, ToneX (which profiles better than a Kemper), Iridium IR or a myriad of other top-tier products that are cheaper and spend the change on your *SETUP* but no - none of that, its Fractal or nothing. Here's an idea for you engage your brain first then wait before you start typing.
@@vaughanmacegan4012I bought tan FM9 son. You don't read very well. Those others you mentioned do not compare.
@@UTAH100 So it's Fractal or nothing, like I said. You don't read very well do you! Learn to engage your brain before typing. By the way I don't care that you bought a tan!?!
@@vaughanmacegan4012 Please don't respond back to Utah100. I have the fm9 and I have been a fractal user since 2006. Fractal does have great sounding products but Ampera also has a very nice sounding unit. I just sent back the Ampera stomp to get the Ampera stage for more options. I was very impressed with the Ampera sound. You can actually do some things with the Ampera that you can't with the FM9. Your Apera should sound just as good as Leon's. He uses the same setup for his fractal gear. I hope units like this will push fractal to add more options and make their interface easier.
How would his set up be any different, besides whatever monitors he is using? Or the fact that he knows how to dial in amp tones with modelers, in general. His signal flow would be the same as anyone’s. He’s just going directly into the Stage II into Logic from the XLR outs with no post processing. That’s literally no different than what most set up would be, besides maybe using 1/4 outs and going straight to monitors or a mixer instead of running it through a DAW.
