    "Shame! Degeneracy!" was, in fact, the perfect response. A straightforward denunciation is all that many situations require.

    • @sandstorm7768
      @sandstorm7768 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      Straightforward and honest for sure, but don't forget why. Always be sure to explain *why* we believe these things, because that's what actually changes minds and shows nonbelievers that we don't live by blind faith, but by reason as well. Yes God commands these things, but explain the *benefits* of living by His commands.
      If we don't, they call us superstitious bigots and and mock us as foolish. Don't give them such a foothold.

    • @tdexter4959
      @tdexter4959 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@sandstorm7768 I think you'll find that they call us bigots and mock us even when we argue our positions robustly. But you are right! We should make arguments and explain benefits. Doing so is an act of charity. Further, God commands it. (I Peter 3:15) I'm just pointing out that not all circumstances allow for a fully-fleshed out argument. Our responses should be proportionate. In this circumstance, Deacon Robinson was responding to a person who made a noise - not a statement, certainly not an argument - just a noise. But what the noise signified was clear enough, and he smacked it down in epic fashion. I think it was an inspired move.
      Anyway, thank you for the reply above. Hope you have a great day!

    around 3:16 (paraphrasing) "we dont follow the Bible in many areas like »women covering their heads in church« etc" - this happens when your "ultimate authority" is a book instead of a living teaching magisterium and the breathing tradition of the venerable fathers.

    • @annefranciselizabeth3840
      @annefranciselizabeth3840 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bandie9101 The real reason for the creation of the doctrine of "Pontifiacal Infallibility" is that no one knows what "Sacred Tradition" means! Romanists will point to their Catechism as the definitive document. But like the Bible, "the Catechism" must also be interpreted. And unlike the Bible, only very few doctrines in "the Catechism" have ever been infallibly defined (such as the Assumption) so most of its stipulations are mere pius opinions. I know many Romanists who have declared the current Pope an anti-Pope or a "Protestant Pope" simply because they disagree with his NON-DOGMATIC OPINION on some aspect of the "Catechism!"
      Consequently, there are now nearly as many "Roman Catholic Orthodoxies" as there are Roman Catholics. Romanism is more fractious than Protestantism, which Romanists accuse of splintering into thousands of sects. There is far more unity of doctrine between the CLASSICAL FORMS of the main Reformed Churches (Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Baptist, etc) than amongst the confusing array of Romanist contortions. Each RC denomination (Mainline, Montinian, Sedevacantist, SSPV, SSPX, Conclavist, Lefebvrist, Catholic Restoration, Sedeprivationist, Ultramontanist, Semi-traditionalist, Concilarist, Neo-ultramontanist, Novus Ordo Catholic, Catholic Liberal, Extraordinary Formist, Opus Dei, Divine Mercy cultists, etc, etc) seems to make up its own "Catholic Truth" on the go. Ironically, it is easier to know what a Reformed denomination believes than to pin down RCs to anything. I do not (yet) know any Baptists who believe that the President of the Baptist Convention is an unsaved heretic. But there is a zealous army of RCs online screaming that all Popes since Paul VI (some even add John the XXIII for good measure) are damned heretics, demonic schismatics, & unscrupulous false prophets! What can be more fractious?
      [POST-SCIPT: The doctrine is Papal (not Corporate) Infallibility. General Councils of the Roman Church are merely advisory. The Pope can act regardless of them. "PI" is a monstrous distortion of genuine Catholic magisterium. Pius IX (a control freak) deliberately defined the doctrine in that strange way, so that in the future a populist Cardinal will not sway a Church Council against the Pope as happened in the past. Pius bullied the Bishops and SENT AWAY FROM THE COUNCIL ALL THOSE 150 BISHOPS who (very wisely) insisted on rejecting the infallibility dogma, in spite of Pius's threats.]

    I find that the “newbies” of the faith seem to have strong convictions as they have recently been “filled” with the Holy Spirit. But as times goes by we let the world wear us down and we need daily injections of scripture to maintain that level. If you don’t believe the inerrancy of the Bible you are making it up as you go along and allowing something else to fill you. At a time like this we need strong Christians to stand up for what we believe and push back on Satan and his teachings. I live in the US and have often heard of the great English preachers who have brought about revivals and people still quote them. Good job.

    One of the things you see here, which is so terribly needed these days, is that Calvin makes _logical_ arguments. E.g. If a bishop can't defend the true definition marriage given to us by God, he shouldn't be a bishop. I am tempted to say, "Amen," but it is more imperative to say, "True!" Faith is imprescindible, yes, but FideISM is an error.

      Calvin Robinson should be at speaker's corner with his videos being seen all around the world. Instead he is deserting the UK because of his obsession with Glitzy clerical robes, repetitive prayers and rosary. These actions take him closer to RC than the Evangelical churches who follow the teachings of Jesus and his disciples who have no need for fancy clothing and group repetitive prayer which was scolded by Jesus. Jesus instructed us to pray directly to God in private. His reason for going to the US is not to serve God but to serve Calvin's need to find a church (to accept him) steeped in 4th century + + religion which continued to moved further away from 1st century teachings.

      I’ll have to listen to the whole interview, but it’s a shame how he points out that we should follow Christ’s teaching in the Bible against divorce, but didn’t go on to renounce his Anglicanism, as it is a religion founded almost explicitly on justifying divorce.

    The timing of this video is AMAZING, because I literally just had a minor meltdown this last weekend (after continuing to not see any real success in my multiple efforts with different churches and people for getting aligned with the truth of our Lord in Scripture).
    In doing so, the Lord helped me to realize that His affirmation of me HAS to be enough, so I am not tempted with compromise or get discouraged when it's not received from others.
    Jesus reminded me of all He's done to make me the man and disciple I am today, and affirmed me in all the ways I wasn't getting from my lack of fruit with others.
    The truly heart breaking part about that is that I used to be much more resilient in the beginning of my walk with Him. I've been getting beaten down, and didn't realize my need for being reaffirmed in the love of my Father. It was a tough go for a bit, but a tremendous blessing and grace once He broke through that for me.
    You're not alone Reverend. Keep up the God work!
    In Christ,
    Andrew

    Please pray for me and my children. Prayers are all we truly need. Jesus I still trust in you and will keep my faith even though it is so very difficult. I’m constantly faced with financial hardships and can barely support my children. I’m a single mom With two autistic children. My husband is with God. I’m overwhelmed. My boys require a lot from me. I recently started homeschooling them due to bullying and other issues. Since they are special needs it’s easier not to expose them to certain situations because their behavior is so unpredictable. I lost my job at Forsyth hospital for declining the vaccine. I declined because of my health conditions lupus, and heart disease. Since losing my job I’ve been struggling to support my children and myself. I’m now waitressing and I’m grateful but I’m not making nearly enough. JESUS HELP me. I’m CRYING OUT TO YOU. I’m tired of struggling. Having children with autism is extremely time consuming and expensive. Struggling to buy groceries. Struggling to pay rent. It hasn’t been easy. Why me Lord? But I know God doesn’t give you more than you can handle. I know all things are possible through Jesus. I WILL KEEP FAITH. No matter how hard life gets.

    Chesterton: "If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing badly." It seems the good deacon did very well, in fact. But his testimony of apparent failure is even more valuable than the good performance. We'll be much more effective once we detach ourselves from concerns about our reputation and our comfort. I'm so proud of Calvin, and so humbled by his example.

    Reverend Robinson, your words at Oxford and here on PWQ speak volumes as to the kind of attitude the followers of Jesus ought to have in public, so please be encouraged and not beaten down. "Shame, degeneracy!" are words no one wants tossed in their direction, but it's not like they don't already know. The sinner knows his/her sin because the Law is undeniably written on our hearts. I could unpack that in our current context, but you know what I mean here. Those words should have been thrown at me more recently than I'd like. I've voluntarily eaten them in recognition of God's goodness and even though they hurt going down, they are necessary for my growth. That I should speak them myself in the face of falsehood and evil also hurts, reminding me of my own lack of moral authority, but even so, they are spoken in the Spirit of goodwill towards men and women who desperately need the WORDS OF LIFE.
    Similarly, always wearing your collar in public as a reminder of Christ to the wider world is a sign that the Lord still moves among us invisibly, humbly, kindly, and touches people in ways we don't determine because we do not command Him. Even more so than a person confused and deluded by the current trends of disordered sexuality and identity (I just can't call it the LGBTQ2IA+ yada yada "community" anymore because even now that "community" is fragmenting and turning on itself), the true Church, those who call on His name, must see their union with Him and one another as our PRIMARY IDENTITY. Yet unlike those with the antichrist way of thinking (not unredeemable, thankfully, like you and I and anyone else), that identity must, by its nature, be genuine and not simply an affected persona. Otherwise it is most likely either: false, like the wolf in sheep's clothing, or; deluded, much like the Emperor wearing his sporty new invisible clothes. I have yet to meet, speak with, or hear of a truly genuine and not deluded/affected person trumpeting the post-Christian woke agenda and "identifying" as one of the myriad sexualities and gender identities or species identities, and I say that knowing my own limited Western context.
    All that to say that a simple symbol of the real truth worn humbly in the midst of a storm of unreality can be an extremely powerful and uncompromising bulwark against the spreading darkness. Press on, brother.

    i once did something similar in a public debate about religion in general. The question was "Does religion make the world better?" and I responded that this question is assuming to be known what is good, and what the world is like (for example wether it is a fact that there is a heaven or a hell), answers to questions which already assume whether or not any religion is true and I also complained about the "one purpose fits all trashcan" category "religion" (A. MacIntyre) and argued then for the truth of Catholicism. I thought that I was doing well because my opponents were sometimes even contradicting themselves, but they resorted to the trick of asking me about my stance on degeneracy. I did not apologize and this was when even the few people who were initially convinced of my position started to vote for the opposing side.
    Later I was angry about how NPC brained some people are, but I thought that at least what I said was true and coherent, I did what I saw as my duty.
