As someone with ADHD, sonic is perhaps the perfect character to give ADHD and portray it positively. Sonic can be impatient, have difficulty sticking on one topic for so long, and always feel the need to be moving, but none of those detract from him being a hero. None of those make him any worse than his friends. And I think that's great. Even if Sonic doesn't canonically have ADHD, I still feel he's a great representation for ADHD, and a really positive one

But once you find a topic we're interested in, We tend to hyperfocus. Just like sonic. He could totally beat them at bowling lol. Also I too have ADHD.

As much as I love that, I'm sorry to say he's not raptor-arming. He's just resting his hands on the device's handle and the one tall light (Sorry to ruin the fun) Sonic generally doesn't do raptor-arm akin activity because his character's personality is too loose and flowy for an awkward arm-stuff like that. (As someone with Autism who has _years_ of experience with ADHD people, and was raised on Sonic media, I firmly believe Sonic is ADHD-Coded, whether intentionally or not.) Furthermore I think Sonic was accidentally ADHD-Coded, but they never cared to change it because they felt it'd be implicitly neat to do so. The movie sonic is also great. Also ngl I think all the vas are amazing for sonic but I feel like Roger Craig Smith did the best in terms of voicing the adhd coding that he has. Like as someone with adhd I can say the way he talks is really accurate to me. Sometimes he talks too fast and goes really off track and sometimes you can also tell that his character is really into a certain thing, especially in boom. He also kinda seems immature which yes is probably just an aspect of his personality but I also feel at least for me I’m a similar way bc of my lack of understanding to social cues and what’s considered mature for my age

As someone with ADHD I believe he most certainly has ADHD symptoms but I don't believe he actually has it I think it might just be because he's so used to going so fast that he's too used to everything happening at his speed that anything too slow is painful That's not to say he can't

Its not only just him moving fast its how he doesn’t like to slow down for anything ot take time doing things he isnt interested in! People with adhd often have trouble just sitting down and relaxing or focusing on things they don’t find interesting!

On the Autism Spectrum half of Sonic, he used to be silent at times when he was younger, making this a callback to why Classic Sonic (I.E, his younger self) never had a voice actor. I think it indicates Social Anxiety as it is common for people with ASD to experience extreme anxiety in social situations. Another sign is that he tends to have Restrictied and/or Rpetitive Behaviors. Whenever he grows impatient, he always has a habit of tapping his shoes and sometimes lays down. Also, tue reason why Green Hill is overused is probably due to Sonic personally being attached to it as it is the place where he started his first adventure and that leaving it for a long long time could be different and strange for him much like how living in a new place or state could be odd for a person on the Spectrum (I used to say that he can be picky about a new resting spot besides Green Hill, as long as it's a Green Hill themed place, but that might make no sense because of his adventurous background :P). Also, Loud Sounds are soemthing he doesn't like, but only out of annoyance and not fear (if an alarm goes off at Eggman's bases, he would make a "omg stfu plz" face). And finally, Unusual Sleep Habits that are formulated into nightmares about his fear of water or on a personal note, loosing his friends. My version of Sonic (who has both ASD and ADHD which I'll get to next) sometimes worries about the loss of his friends as he now knows what life can be like without them and that he's at a point where he starts to view them as family. As Sonic worries about this, he's always reassured by pals that they will be okay whenever he's around, reminding him that he's a hero and that he's always good at stopping the worst that's yet to come. Now for ADHD. Based on what I saw from the video. He tends to go off topic, a lot. However, this doesn't mean he doesn't care about saving the world, but rather making it more fun and positive. This could be why Meta Era Sonic is not serious at times because Sonic himself is using that coping mechanism, kind of like Prime Sonic (although I agree with most fans that its not always about his funny side and that SEGA should get in the habit of showing his serious side to make it 50/50, kind of like how they did Sonic's character in Sonic Prime). Also, the foot tapping thing I said earlier could also be a sign of ADHD as it could be another way of him losing focus besides his humor. Also, he's fast as always, not only is his speed a genetic mutation (oh look, another headcanon thing!) but the way it can be unleashed is how he gets up frequently to walk or run around. That's all I have for the ADHD part. I'm on the Autism Spectrum myself which could explain why my version of Sonic has it, but ADHD also blends well with him too. Feel free to give me more comparisons between his character and ADHD

Same here. I'm 57 and Sonic is also my comfort character. I've got the trifecta: ADHD, non verbal learning disability and ADHD. Of all the movies I've ever seen (thousands) books I've read, etc. no character has ever portrayed what it's like to be alone and neurodivergent better than Movie Sonic in the first movie.

As someone with combined-type ADHD, this strikes me as someone who only knows what it’s like from a surface level. Then again, neurodiversity of any kind is on a spectrum, and my experience isn’t universal. Also it’s typically different in girls than boys.

Also, tue reason why Green Hill is overused is probably due to Sonic personally being attached to it as it is the place where he started his first adventure and that leaving it for a long long time could be different and strange for him much like how living in a new place or state could be odd for a person on the Spectrum (I used to say that he can be picky about a new resting spot besides Green Hill, as long as it's a Green Hill themed place, but that might make no sense because of his adventurous background :P). Also, Loud Sounds are soemthing he doesn't like, but only out of annoyance and not fear (if an alarm goes off at Eggman's bases, he would make a "omg stfu plz" face). And finally, Unusual Sleep Habits that are formulated into nightmares about his fear of water or on a personal note, loosing his friends. My version of Sonic (who has both ASD and ADHD which I'll get to next) sometimes worries about the loss of his friends as he now knows what life can be like without them and that he's at a point where he starts to view them as family. As Sonic worries about this, he's always reassured by pals that they will be okay whenever he's around, reminding him that he's a hero and that he's always good at stopping the worst that's yet to come.
Now for ADHD. Based on what I saw from the video. He tends to go off topic, a lot. However, this doesn't mean he doesn't care about saving the world, but rather making it more fun and positive. This could be why Meta Era Sonic is not serious at times because Sonic himself is using that coping mechanism, kind of like Prime Sonic (although I agree with most fans that its not always about his funny side and that SEGA should get in the habit of showing his serious side to make it 50/50, kind of like how they did Sonic's character in Sonic Prime). Also, the foot tapping thing I said earlier could also be a sign of ADHD as it could be another way of him losing focus besides his humor. Also, he's fast as always, not only is his speed a genetic mutation (oh look, another headcanon thing!) but the way it can be unleashed is how he gets up frequently to walk or run around. That's all I have for the ADHD part. I'm on the Autism Spectrum myself which could explain why my version of Sonic has it, but ADHD also blends well with him too. Feel free to give me more comparisons between his character and ADHD

Same here. I'm 57 and Sonic is also my comfort character. I've got the trifecta: ADHD, non verbal learning disability and ADHD. Of all the movies I've ever seen (thousands) books I've read, etc. no character has ever portrayed what it's like to be alone and neurodivergent better than Movie Sonic in the first movie.

Then again, neurodiversity of any kind is on a spectrum, and my experience isn’t universal. Also it’s typically different in girls than boys.
