- Simon Petrus (27) a young Namibian Man who Invented A Cell Phone That Doesn't Require Sim card or Airtime a few years ago, completed his 3 year Course in Electronics Engineering at the Windhoek Vocation Training Centre. His graduation together with other students took place on 8 September 2023 in Windhoek. Simon was just at his home village in Okongo, Ohangwena region when came up with a unique cell-phone and a local newspaper ran a story about his plight that a talented young man is sitting at home because his parents cannot afford to send him for further studies. The Founding President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E Dr. Sam Nujoma read the article and asked why such a brilliant person could not be assisted and receive training in electronics. Efforts were made to locate him and find a sponsor and he was admitted at the Windhoek Vocational Training Centre to do a 3-year course in Electronic Engineering. ERONGO MARINE ENTERPRISES (PTY) LTD, a Namibian Company based in Walvisbay, fully sponsored him. This is an inspiring story.
