pro tip : you can watch movies on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching loads of movies recently.
@Wells Jeremias Yup, I have been using flixzone for months myself :D
@Wells Jeremias Yea, have been watching on flixzone for years myself :D
@Wells Jeremias Definitely, been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
Looks great, that! The character affected by the crack and the now ties really sets it off.
Love your videos and shop. Your subtle humor is the best.
Thank you very much
Nice job Matt looking good and remember#stay safe and make. 🍺🍺👍👍
Thank you
Chopping wood is very therapeutic, but you really can't beat a chilled beer! Nice work again!
Both are great
Awesome job Matt! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Great video again. Thanks for showing all the tricks.
Thank you
Very nice Matt.
Thank you Ken
Very nice build.
Thank you
It was interesting and fun to watch. Cool!
Thank you
Nice project, and good use of a block of oak. Here's a few ideas:
1. If you had a few powerful bar clamps you could have tried closing the split up a bit before fitting the bow ties. Then, when you released the clamps, the oak would have put the ties under tension, holding them tightly and precluding further movement.
2. An easier way to drill at the desired angle is just to set up a bevel (or chunk of cardboard cut at the desired angle) on the underside of the block and keep drill parallel to it.
3. If your going to be using the block outside, it's better NOT to trim the feet so they set down flat. Better to leave them cut straight across so the corners dig in and keep the legs from splaying any further.
Another great project Matt.
Thank you
Would make a beautiful side table as well as chopping block. Nice job Badger 👍🏻
Thank you
nice job Matt
Thank you
I like it spot on👍
Thank you
Brilliant work. You’ve just given me an idea.
Thank you
Great piece.
That’s a very well made Chopping Block, & like you said, dual purpose for a beer as well! Great Tips & Tricks too. Very Well done Matt. Keep up the good work..Simon
Thank you Simon
Bottle of beer stood next to the axe, stuck into the block, a very imposing look!
Nice job Matt !!!.
Thank you
Nice little project,,,, I now want somthing like this.
Thank You
Hello Matt what great project I really like all projects you make good job
Thank you very much
I like that one Matt good video 👍
Thank you
Looks fantastic Matt!
Thank you
Beautiful work Matt, I really like the appearance of the bow ties. I recall something on an American channel and they called them butterfly joints, joining floorboards perhaps to repair a gap? Love watching your cool headed approach to problem solving. I'm never likely to be a carpenter but love watching others working with wood.
God bless you - writing from a depressing situation in Lebanon 😔.
Thank you. Stay safe
Nice one Matt. Super tidy woodshed.
Thank you very much
Brilliant. Too good to use as a chopping block 😉
Thank you
That is a classic. I love those ties.
Thank you
Not bad for a first attempt mate doing the bow ties. You look like a mad scientist creating when you was chiselling the oak. That's a cracking side table mate. Nice 👌
Thank you very much
I have a big oak log as a chopping block. When it started to split I took the sap wood out with a long 20mm sds bit (such as plumbers use for going through walls) then glued in a length of dowel rod. It relieved the stress in the growth rings and the log stopped splitting.
Sounds a good idea
That did turn out a lot better than anticipated! 👌🏾
Looks grouse mate, awesome job on the bow ties too. 👍🏾
Thank you Bill
Wow what a chunk of oak! Looks great with those bow ties :)
Thank you. They are pretty
Awesome project, it’s always good to try new techniques, I’ve been toying with trying bow ties myself, definitely think I’ll give it a go now! 👍
Thank you. I will defiantly see them again now
I adore bow ties and buy the way it is so nice that i could use it as a side table |!!!!!!!! Lovely !!!!!!
Thank you very much
I really like that Matt, nice work---
Thank you
Great work Matt, those bow ties look and should work a treat 👍
Thank you. I do hope so
Dude, you should have more views. Your videos are great
A really handsome project Matt. I'd have that in my house!
Thank you Adam
Really good Matt too nice to chop wood on :-)
Thank you. It also makes a nice side table
Hey, I have that same knife, along with the wider-bladed one and I love their steel. The best carving knife I've used, though, is the hollow-ground Flexcut... OMG.
They do look sharp
AHH normal service has been resumed (Danish oil). Looks spot on that Matt I think it's going to end up holding more beer that chopping wood thought
Thank you
This is not woodworking ! This is art... A woody R2D2 ;-)
Haha thank you
Nice
Thank you
Hi Matt, if you need an adaptor for the router dust collection, I'd happily 3D print and and stick it in the post. I can make virtually any size, square or round section
Thank you very much. I think I have one for it and I just need to fit it
Instead of using table saw to square up the end, try using router sled
Great vid! Do the bowties look more lauan or meranti? Too reddish for walnut.
Thank you
Love this! Really want to have a go at the bow tie technique myself. Would you recommend that router? Want an all rounder but was planning on something beefier.
Thank you. I really like this little router but a bigger one would also be useful
Will the bow ties work for 'builder crack'? thanks in advance...
Yes just router out a slot for them
Nice project, shocking chisel work tho 😬. Perhaps a skill you should work on.
I'm new to this channel and really enjoying it.
Does leaving the crack open make dry out more/faster ? why not fill it ?
With what?
@@Badgerworkshop epoxy
It would be expensive and I hate the look of it
@@Badgerworkshop good points, hope it is stable enough
Again nice project Matt. So when cracked at one side, wear a bowtie 🧐
Thank you
Gotta feel sorry for the old chopping block. This tall geezer wearing THREE bow-ties comes and stands next to you! Great job Matt, the top seemed level before you even squared up the legs but of course they needed it for stability.
Thank you
Nice but I'd have to skip the legs. Splitting wood ful-tilt with a felling axe needs a low, strong and stable base... You don't want that blade meeting your feet.
Great video. Shock horror you’ve run out of danish oil!
Thank you. It was a sad day
Hmm... I guess i'll have to take a trek through a local forrest to see if I can find a nice block ... well maybe when it's safe ...
Hope you find something that will work
Find the right tree - a few dominoes and no-one will ever know you've been there!
