this right here, this theme is what sold me on the belief that wally is the only true rival of RSE, he starts out following in your footsteps, a child sick from the ashes of his hometown, and surpassed you by the end, by the time you battle him for the last time you face him not just as friends, not just as rivals, not as mentor and student. you face him as an equal.
This was easily the best thing to come out of OR/AS. You make it through the new Victory Road, then you enter into an MGS3-esque flower field. Wally's there waiting for you. Then suddenly... Heaven or Hell Duel 1 *LET'S ROCK*
the flowers where you face wally are red spider lilies. in japanese flower language, they're symbolic of death and rebirth. it's because his meek, nervous self finally 'dies' there, and he is 'reborn' as a stronger, more confident person.
Finally, a metal cover of this... metal song :P Seriously, though, nice work. (Frankly, this was my favorite change in ORAS. In the original, Wally goes through all that character devolopment, and all he gets is a fight in a nondescript cave entrance with a generic trainer theme? Phht. ORAS isn't perfect, but this was one thing they really knocked out of the park!)
And now, it's further amplified by this theme...I'm HALF-tempted to just go to Nintendo's E-Shop and Get O.Ruby JUST because of this song...AND Little V's metal remix. THAT says something of the man's talent.

Wally proved that for me. the slower part you add at 2:49 shows the emostion this fight can give your in a field of red flowers very mgs 3 feeling vs the boss in a way Wally was the Boss and May or bedndon big boss aka snake But in the world of pokemon this one fight ment so much to me that i hated even beating him on day Wally will get his time to shine. and you sir did his theme justice.
