Correction* I meant to say for terrestrial gecko breeding facilities they can use short enclosures to save space vertically. So with crested geckos saving space horizontally is key*
The gray color seems like it would relax the gecko better to allow better feeding response and less stress levels
Possibly. I find any and all reptiles I've kept like to retreat to darker, enclosed spaces to feel safe. And the geckos choose to come perch by the screen when they want more light
Awesome! Super informative and helpful video! Thank you!
I have been using the tall wide & tall medium for subadult and adults since I’ve started watching your videos and it has made keeping so much easier! Currently I have a combination of 34 drawers and it makes cleaning, feeding and misting so much easier.
So glad to hear!!!
really cool
Double upload! what a blessing
Thank you for these videos they are incredibly helpful! 😋
So glad to hear it!
You said you were testing with substrate for some. How did that go? Did you have a drainage layer? How is it with cleaning the substrate ones?
Seriously thinking about swapping to this set up to maximize my space. Already have some for my growouts and i like them.
Haven't gotten around to fully make bioactive, but substrate works fine in then
Seriously considering the change for my guys. Question: With your newest update video having a "bio active" floor. How does this affect the gecko feeding on red runners? All my guys and gals are super derpy. kind of afraid to let the feeders free range.
I let all the red runners run in the tubs I don't hand feed often lol
I started using these this week love them only set up 8 so far still need a few 100 more lol
Nice!
Thanks for the links and tips!
No problem!
Brilliant set up. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the feedback!
Picked up a few of them and the adult size ones at the Houston store. Lady helped me out letting me know military gets a discount. Will be going back next week to get more. Thank you for showing. 🎉🎉
I also give 20% military discounts! Glad I could help with this video!
@@robbysreptiles ooh now I will most definitely be on the look out on your morphmarket as I am in need of some females.
What kind of morphs?
@@robbysreptiles something with red as lately I have been falling in love with them. I can't remember if it was you that posted a photo or someone else but it was a red lily and damn did I fall in love. Sides a red I would say a nice tricolor. Nothing high end, mid to low is what this Marine can afford lmao.
Could you do a video of you showcasing your past gecko parings and there offspring
Sure I already have a few!
Do you have any videos on how to apply the vents for the tubs?
I do not
Yes this will be a good video I need to know how to do it as well
Robby, thanks for the video. I really like the sliding bins. I believe you're saying that you spent $30 per enclosure, correct? Thanks.
They are 30 or 28 per tub, but REGULARLY they have 25% off sales and that's when I always buy them so I got about 150 of the biggest size and 400 of these tall narrow for about 9.5k or so, might be less adult tubs but it was somewhere around there
@@robbysreptiles Thanks for the quick reply. :) Holy COW!!! Did you compare to getting custom built rack systems of the same size. I ask because I am headed to a reptile show tomorrow and the company that has built a few of our custom racks is pricing out a 'grow out' system. Thanks again for the quick response!
@@SupremeGecko I compared the cost of 6ft racks compared to those tubs in the video in the same space and you would save quite a bit of money AND fit more in the same space. AND save even more not having to buy tubs for the racks
@@robbysreptiles Interesting. I'm comparing costs now (rack + tubs), and coming NO WHERE close to the costs of these bins.
You may have easy access to cheaper materials than I do. Or I know in your videos you use plywood for some as well which then it would be way cheaper
When you keep the baby geckos in the totes do you use any uvb or heat
I do not they only need room temp
@@robbysreptilesthank you
Does not enough air get thru the cracks around the drawer that it needs the 6in hole with the screen?
I would definitely put a vent on any tub you keep them in except when they're like hatchlings and you're using 6qt with the lid on, they don't have a great seal anyway and it'll help maintain humidity
Where did you get the mesh to over the 6 inch hole?
Amazon and I cut it
Ohhh I like these. What size would you recommend for an adult “full grown” crested?
They have ones in the same series that are 12x12x18 and I use those for my adult breeders
I love the homemade hide. What are the mushroom ledges ?
I don't know I get them local!
Shame they don’t do them in the uk . They look fab 😊
Great video as always 😊
Thank you:)
So how much uvb and light do the geckos get when using these tubs?
They do not need uvb! The lights come on every day in the room which comes in through the vents
@@robbysreptiles do you use any special lighting with this method? Sorry, just intrigued as I got my first breeding pairs last week
@deadducktacticsgaming617 nope as long as your room has a normal amount of daytime light they will do fine
@@robbysreptiles ok, that's great to know, thank you so much 😊
what type of glue did you use to glue the screen onto the boxes?
Hot glue and a hot glue gun
How do you get the mesh to stick to the hole??
Prayer. And a hot glue gun
Also they need to pay you for all the promotion and business you’ve given them 😂
How big is the hole?
For juveniles I think 3 or 4 inches
I just looked up the containers on the website. If you have 400 of them that's nearly $12,000 in containers. Holy crap dude.
Black Friday sale ;)
@@robbysreptiles What was the savings Robby? Even at 50%, that's still $6k.
i finally foudn em :) tall and narrow for hatchling is too big right
Yes way too big. I don't put them in til they're 15g or more
Done
Based
What about the top rail, does it fit snug or have you noticed geckos climbing out so they end up in between the drawer and the outer wall?
I haven't had that happen but in the back there is a little dip that sometimes when you open it they jump behind the drawer. But you just take out the tub and grab the gecko
What's your take on the need for UVB, obviously all your geckos look great but in these set ups its not possible to provide it
Crested geckos do not need uvb.
Actually crested geckos DO require uvb lighting. If they require vitamin D3 then they actually require uvb for a healthy long life span.
There are thousands of 15+ year old geckos that do not have uvb lighting.
th-cam.com/video/TYUFqbCjkcg/w-d-xo.html
Obviously from a breeders perspective using grow out bins would be a more economical way to house multiple animals. Uvb also wouldn't be cost effective for numerous animals. What's best isn't always practical on a larger scale necessary to turn a profit for a business vs a hobby breeder.
Perhaps a better way to respond to the uvb question is crested geckos benefit from uvb as they would receive in their natural habitat. If kept in captivity without uvb you can potentially avoid health issues such as mbd by feeding a balanced crested gecko diet and feeding crickets dusted in calcium D3 powder.
@@kkay4372 Wonderful response. I'm hoping Robby replies to this.
I’m a bit slow, so you have 3 different sizes or just 2?
I have 2 different sizes
So the short tall for sub adults and the tall narrow for the full grown adults?
I use tall narrow for juvinile to small adult. And the tall wides for adult geckos (35g+)
Ohh gotcha! I’m buyin some rn for sure! 😂 What do you use for the baby crested geckos that are less then 10g
6 qt tubs from walmart
Let’s goo!!
You know it!
Can you get these in store
Yes!
Okay thanks cuz I can use the help cuz I got two female crested geckos and one male and I want to breed them and I need to grow them up
Which size do u use for your adults
12x12x18
bro chanell is aswome i am going to start now with crested gkekos for adult tubes we can use the tall big tube for the link or we need something else?
\
I use the ones that are 12x12x18 for my full grown adults. The tall narrows are for grow outs and sub adults
How do they recieve heat ?
Crested geckos only need the temps to be mid 70s
@@robbysreptiles ahhhh amazing setup though love the vids :)
Thanks!
How do you heat them/ know when to remist them?
I heat the entire room to around 78 degrees and I've just got it nailed down now to mist 3x a week. It depends on where you live and its general humidity and temps
There not plenty of spaces
Okay
Love the videos I’m the one stacking with all the tubs and taking the lids off. It does get tiring.
Been there, these are well worth investing in. And they're only 28 bucks each. Compared to an exotic Terra it's a no brainer
