It really is a sad state of affairs, the way people relate with each other now - there's not much importance placed on having good manners anymore, like how this man shows. There's quite a decline in Etiquette with each passing generation I think. And with him, it really too bad that that if he was being discriminated against in Hollywood because of him being Asian. I’d definitely call him the very first Asian hot leading man type in America a groundbreaker - he’s SO young and beautiful here and I love his voice!

I came across this clip simply by accident. I had watched The Last Emperor in the theatre and clearly as John put it, I was "overwhelmed". John is not only handsome, stylish, and spoke eloquently, he is also humble and benevolent. There must be good reasons why he went into hibernation in acting. I hope film makers will take notice of him and bring him out from hiatus and give him another epic role most fitting for his incomparable talent 👏
He revealed inan interview with an italian media years after the last emperor that there wasn't many roles for him even after the huge success partly because in the end of the day he is Asian. And another reason is that he is very picky about movies and doesn't want to repeat playing same or similar roles over and over.
A truly awe inspiring film. I can't hold back the tears during many scenes, but most of all during the last scene in the Forbidden City which is so very moving.

Very interesting they got a biracial guy playing the last emperor and having a hot Canadian model of Korean descent playing Kawashima Yoshiko (a.k.a. Eastern Jewel, Jin Bihui, etc.), the last princess of the Qin Empire.
The interviewer was kinda aggressive, forcing John to accept Puyi deserved a punishment or so (John didn’t agree apparently). How condescendingly rude!
