Finally got a comment from a director, that I didn't have any "Radio" left in my voice. After 20 years doing it in Chicago, never thought I'd get here.

Thanks, Bill. One more DeWees video with golden info! I was going to add, that there are times when the whole job may fall apart on the client’s end, for whatever reason.
Months ago I auditioned on Fiverr and they said I was the one they wanted. We even did a Skype interview. I was told when they had the project ready for me, they would make contact, probably in a week or two. But he also mentioned that the other person on his team was due to have a baby in March. It’s been months now. Who knows what might be going on with that partner and her pregnancy! They may even have decided to trash the whole idea because she is too busy(….or yeas, perhaps found a different voice.) My point? Unless they are big corporate, not every client has their act together on their end.
On your advice, I just put it out of my mind, knowing that if and when they want me, they know where to find me. ….And I move on.

Yes. That's the best attitude to have. I think that's the goal: to do your best when putting yourself out there, be professional, set it, and forget it! Then move on to the next one.
Blessings to you on your VO career.

Bill, having your share your real world experience is a wndow into VO that doesn't seem to be available elsewhere. Thanks for the confidence boost. (If I stacked up all the printed scripts for jobs I've auditioned for, well, I might need to trade in my ruler for a tape measure.)

    Brilliant! Just on time.
I had one of my proposals liked yesterday, but heard nothing from them since then.
Anyway, I 'm glad they liked my audition.

Glad to hear that! Yeah, sometimes you can get mixed signals like that. It's better to just do the audition and move on. Keep at it! 😁

I get shortlisted a good bit and I always celebrate that because it is almost (ALMOST) as rewarding as getting the job because I now know I did something that someone liked. I never get my hopes up after that because I know how subjective it is. Just knowing that I have been heard and appreciated is rewarding itself.

To use another baseball analogy Bill, this is "inside baseball" stuff you're sharing. Thanks for ur consistent support of #voiceoverprofessionals.

Excellent advice. You can't helicopter your way into a job. Keep swinging at the ball. Thanks for your keeping it real attitude Bill.

All these videos like this are really informative and helpful for new people like me that are trying to get into the VO business. Thank you from your experience in the world to pass it on to people like us. This is a real motivater to have people to not give up like you said "It is a marathon not a sprint."

Great advice. Talking into a microphone and sending it into the ether can get discouraging sometimes. Thanks for the motivation.

Very helpful, the baseball analogy is very cool, I played softball for years and there were times when I didn't hit the ball or I only hit it once, it didn't mean I was a bad player I just needed more practice and I became more efficient😊 Thank you for this video it was very helpful.

Glad to hear that analogy was helpful. It's similar with golf. Just need to keep at it.
