Thank you so much Fatmata! I think I’ve been rather ambitious… but a couple of them I’m fully aware won’t get finished in June. It’s nice to have a variety of small and large projects to work on though!
WooHoo Sarah, I chose my quilt fabrics today. It took me ages! Really looking forward to the QAL with you and Theresa. Love your knitting and yarn choices. You are more adventurous than me. Good luck with your fairisle project.
I think a navy skirt will be a brilliant addition to your wardrobe navy is such a versatile colour, I love your checked skirt it looks gorgeous. It’s strange listening to someone making winter sewing plans when here in the uk we are making summer dresses for when the sun decides to show its face lol. Happy sewing and knitting x
Thanks Anne! I agree, I think a navy cord skirt will get a lot of wear. 😊 I hope you get to see a bit more of the sun soon! Winter has well and truly descended here!
Such thoughtful plans, Sarah. You have some beautiful things planned. I love the sweater you're wearing, so I'm glad you're planning items to give you more opportunities to wear it. I would imagine that the fanny pack will come together really quickly, as you've done all the time consuming cutting part. process. I'm excited to see people's enthusiasm for our quilt along. I can't wait to see some quilts coming together!
Thanks Theresa! I’m really excited about this month’s plans! I agree - it will be so fun to do the QAL with people from all over the world! Very eager for 22nd June to roll around!
Hi Sarah. I'm in. I've been playing with my fabrics to choose what to use. Version 3 was the one I settled upon: dark solid colors with a stripe for the framing strips. I'm an old-school quilter, so pre-wash all my fabrics, even the strip sets. Especially with the dark colors, I'm glad I washed them first, both for uneven shrinkage and because many of them bled. Years ago I used to do quilting by hand, but these days I use my sewing machine for everything except basting. My quilt will most likely have stitch-in-the-ditch quilting, or a simple geometric grid. Because my husband wants the equivalent of a long and skinny twin size, it shouldn't be too hard to quilt on my sewing machine at the end of summer per the Standing Tall QAL schedule. I don't do Instagram, so will periodically e-mail photos as things progress along. Thanks to you and Theresa for doing this Quilt A Long to make winter a little warmer (or summer a little cooler/chromatic for Theresa and the rest of us in the northern Hemisphere), Antonia
Hi Antonia, that is so exciting! Thank you for joining in with us on this one! It's so fun choosing colours and I can't wait to see yours! I might try stitch in the ditch quilting for this one too, given the straight lines everywhere. Can't wait to get started! x
Hi! I've been a lurker most of the time (long-time knitter and sewer, occasional quilter), but you were asking for a favorite PJ bottoms pattern. I've definitely got a clear favorite in that department, and it is the Wardrobe by Me PJ Pants. I've done them several times, along with others, and I like these best. It's got no side seams, for one thing, and has just the right taper along the leg to make them easy to sleep in. And I've made 2 flannel ones that get constant use in the winter!
Hi Lynn! Thanks so much for commenting! Those PJ pants look very comfortable and the lack of side seams is intriguing! I will have to add them to my list of patterns to consider - still not decided yet! 😊
Your Instant Crush sweater is going to be so lovely. There is nothing hard about doing color work; this will be one of those times you wonder why everyone makes such a big deal of something when you do it! Those colors are so pretty. It's great that you're following up on your insights during MMM. That Patina blouse in the cobra corsage is going to be very dramatic and pretty. Looking forward to seeing it all come to life. 😀
Thanks Diane, that is very encouraging to hear! Making this video has got me quite motivated to get to work on all these plans - I'm hoping to have quite a productive few weeks ahead!
Great plans. The Patina blouse will look fabulous in the cobra corsage but do watch the pattern placement lest you wind up with flower boobs! Ive made a couple including in silk! Strongly suggest cutting out single layer and spray starch is your friend. I can get it over my head so don’t do the button holes if it’s a shifty fabric. I love your skirts.
Good tip Jo! Pattern placement is so important, I’ve seen some real crackers in my time. 😜 thanks for the tips, I’ll definitely have my spray starch on hand and cutting in one layer is a good idea too. ☺️
Love the variety of your videos Sarah, thank you. The little skirts are lovely. I look forward to the progress of your colourwork sweater . I have purchased the Colourwork Book by Along Avec Anna, with the intention of trying one for the first time however i am still not brave enough!
I appreciated how you described your knitting, and needing to take it one step at a time to not get overwhelmed. That is helpful to know! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you Tammy! I think it's to do with knitting patterns generally just being a great big list of words, whereas in a sewing pattern there are usually accompanying diagrams so I can actually picture it as I read ahead!
ooh every time I see the Instant Crush jumper I want to make it! I really like Joji Locatelli patterns, they look great and are really well written. I made her Rituals jumper that was in one of the issues of Pom Pom. I agree with you about not reading knitting patterns too much in advance. I've found they make sense to me as they unfold and I just have to trust the process!
I am almost through Joji's beanie pattern and have used it as an opportunity to try reading a pattern in chart form for the first time, which has been good! I am excited (but still apprehensive) about starting the jumper - I feel like it's going to take a lot of concentration and I'll have to pick my timing well for maximum focus, especially in the beginning stages! 😆
You may want to spray starch on your slippery fabrics before you cut them out. Let the starch dry and cut out your garment. After you sew it wash it again to get rid of the start. Makes it easier to handle.
Thank you very much Lizann! I am looking forward to getting stuck into all of these plans. It's funny how talking about them and touching the fabric can get me feeling motivated!
I have fat quarters that I bought for the fanny pack in a lovely Japanese type shop upstairs in mall in the centre of Melbourne when I was there visiting my daughter in 2018. I made a toilet to test during lockdown and it worked out really well and much quicker than anticipated..... Ridiculous that I haven't got on with it 😮
Oh I really must get on with mine! It’s funny how some projects just languish for years. 😂 good to hear it was reasonably quick! Maybe I’ll get onto mine next weekend…
Watch your gauge on the Instant Crush sweater. My best friend made it for herself and it turned out really small! She’s giving it to my 6 year old niece 😂
That's true! I could simplify them by removing the back pockets, and maybe remove the bottom pleat, just gathering into a ribbing cuff instead! I might do that actually. Then I don't need to print a new pattern either. ☺️ Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!
I’ve got some black cobra corsage that was a very special treat for myself and I’m absolutely petrified of cutting into it. Can’t wait to see your make.
If you are making the lo g sleeve version of the Pati a, check the length of the sleeves, I found them far too short for me and had to add quite a bit of length.
Good idea! I will definitely consider just using a simple pattern I already own and then just adding the cuff. They don’t even need to look good - just want them cosy and a comfortable fit really!
Such lovely plans! Your knitted jumpers are just incredible! I’m in awe!
Thank you so much Rachael! I’m nervous about the knitted jumper… it looks scary! But after winning the yarn I just have to give it a go! 😄
Amazing plans, I can’t wait to see them all made up. I like that you let your MeMadeMay experience influence your makes!
Thank you so much Fatmata! I think I’ve been rather ambitious… but a couple of them I’m fully aware won’t get finished in June. It’s nice to have a variety of small and large projects to work on though!

Yay!! Can't wait to see what you've picked for your quilt!
That is so exciting Liz, so happy you’re joining along with us! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
The Patina will be gorgeous in that fabric. Can’t wait to see it all done! Beautiful plans.
Thanks so much Izzy! I am rather excited by everything on my list this month!

Nocturne Pyjama Pants by Sew Liberated - I have the pattern but have not made them.
Love your jumper!
Hope the Quilt-along goes well!
Thanks Alison, I appreciate the recommendation and will check those out!

Thank you Mary! Hopefully I find the color work not too difficult and can encourage you to take the plunge with one in your book! 💕
Looking forward to the Joji sweater!
Thanks Kath! I am excited to challenge myself on that one! I have cast it on successfully now and hope to make some progress on the weekend. 😊

@@SoSarahSewed What a great idea. It's such a stunning jumper, maybe not one to take to knit nights but the time and effort will be worth it 😊

Thank you Susan - I should do that next time. It was a very slippery job to cut out, especially!
Lovely plans! I think the corsage will look great in the patina, can’t wait to see it ❤
Thank you so much Emma! I'm excited about the Patina, just a little nervous to get started!
Really lovely plans Sarah...I look forward to seeing the finished items. Stay warm down there in Melbourne! ❤ from the MNC of NSW.

Toile not toilet

Oh gosh, thanks for the warning! Might have to do a swatch for this one! I’d hate it not to fit. 😬
What about some Chantrelle pajamas?? You seem to be wearing your joggers a lot, maybe pajamas would be a hit too!?
That's true! I could simplify them by removing the back pockets, and maybe remove the bottom pleat, just gathering into a ribbing cuff instead! I might do that actually. Then I don't need to print a new pattern either. ☺️ Thank you for watching and for the suggestion!
I love your plans. I'm very curious about the woven pjs with a cuff. Looking forward to seeing the suggestions you get and what you come up with!
Thank you so much! I might end up forgetting about the cuffs and try the Safiya pants from the Tilly Simple book… we will see! 😄
@@SoSarahSewed ooh I've seen that one recommended by a lot of sewists! Can't wait to hear how you go.
I’ve got some black cobra corsage that was a very special treat for myself and I’m absolutely petrified of cutting into it. Can’t wait to see your make.
Oooh what are you planning to make with yours Jane? I've felt the same way about mine - it's so beautiful and precious!
If you are making the lo g sleeve version of the Pati a, check the length of the sleeves, I found them far too short for me and had to add quite a bit of length.
Thanks for the tip Jane, I’ll be sure to check the measurements for those!
❤
🥰
I've been toying with the idea of making flannelette pants in the style arc Bob pants. Adding a ribbing cuff wouldn't be too hard
Good idea! I will definitely consider just using a simple pattern I already own and then just adding the cuff. They don’t even need to look good - just want them cosy and a comfortable fit really!
