Thanks Marvin!!! Great Demo and run-through. I have a late 70's Hi-Flier V3 very similar to yours (1977?). I agree with you, excellent for those vintage, classic rock sounds.

I bought this exact same bass on market place for $75. Great condition but something wrong with the truss rod. Looking for a new neck!
    Great video! Thanks!

My father-in-law found one in the trash too and gave it to me about a year ago. I’ve been trying to find parts for it but I haven’t had any luck. I just need a nut and tuning machines.

Good luck! I got lucky and didn't need to swap a lot of the hardware

You should come over and play Project Gotham Racing on the Xbox and reminisce about the good old days

Never heard of univox before but this bass looks really similar to the mosrite bass
Edit: Just watched the video now I see why its looks like the mosrite bass eheheh

If you haven’t heard of Univox then listen to Nirvana‘s Bleach Kurt Cobain plays one the entire album

You're very lucky with this thing. At the same time I envy you and am happy for you

That's not a Phase 3, it's a Phase 4 differentiated by offset volume and tone knobs and chrome tuners, etc. My Phase 3 bass has inline volume and tone knobs and black tuners. Earlier this year (2021) I had a natural finish Phase 4, so I know the difference but compare photos of the 2.
    Wikipedia:
    Phase Four
Hi-Flier Phase IV (1977) in sunburst
Around 1977, the Hi-Flier was once again changed. The white and black guitars retained their white pickguards, while sunburst and natural guitars were fitted with black pickguards.
Many had the pickup surrounds in white plastic (from the previous standard black ). The knob layout was changed from in-line tone and volume knobs to a horizontally-opposed knob layout.

I appreciate that. Helps to clarify what I have

Nice video btw and good sound. As I write this I'm waiting for a Univox Hi-Flier Phase III Electric Bass. I've had a few Phases 3 & 4.

Kurt Cobain made a good choice on playing these

The pickups sound MUCH better direct than run through those fucking cheap volume and tone controls. Learned my craft on of these and did some experimenting by adding a "bypass toggle" switch and running through a Univox Square Wave (best fuzz EVER). The neck eventually warped due to high Jersey humidity and a poor truss rod design. Upgraded to a '74 Rick 4003 with worn frets before I stumbled on a '75 Ibanez Rocket Roller which I traded the Rick for. Rondo Music threw in a top-o'-the-line strap, straploks and a 25' Whirlwind Cobra cable. Turned the Hi Flier into a wall clock eventually.
