Wow! That was so close to the edge of the fall! Only the fact that we saw the gopro footage let me know from the start - that somehow you must have come back. You did a great job on the blind flying!
Hey David, this was not a fail, it was a win!!.. you rescued your Tricopter, even your antenna tower fell down... and this IS a win.. I guess, I would have sank my Quadcopter in the Niagara flood :-) *THUMBSUP*
This is an awesome video capturing a different perspective on something many of us have seen but not appreciated from this point of view. In the background there's the observation tower that looks like the CN Tower, where, at the ground level, they used to sell oysters guaranteed to have at least mutant pearls within. I enjoyed watching you goofballs send a drone out over the falls. Kudos.
We have been on holiday to Canada in 2012 and have also been to Niagara Falls. What a force of nature, your videos are beautiful, like that of the everglades. Good luck with making such images! Best regards, Berend.
David, it's always a pleasure to watch your vids and to see Chad and fam too! The machine your running looks very electronically sophisticated for sure. I wish I had your E-engineering skills. West
It's so weird seeing people go across the country to see something I literally can get in my car and see after a 20 minute drive as i live in buffalo, NY. 😂
I love the good old days when we could go out, do this, and be revered. Instead of immediately have people assume we are pervs with "drones". Damn you DJI.
You could create a visual art piece ,I do not think it has been done yet with a RV,but this is a very creative medium. Another way of representing the landscape with technology .I think your creativity is marvellous.
Para mí creo que sois los mejores en dones de todos los canales que conozco, lo que no inventes o realiceis vosotros con dones no lo hace nadie. Saludos desde Valencia - España.
Absoultely Amazing Look at the waterfall... Thank you so much for posting this, I have never been to Niagara falls, but now thanks to you I feel like I have seen it better then people who have actually been there.... Awesome Video.
Killer video David, I wish I knew you went to the falls while you where in the states i would have come out and watched. Loved the work you did with the flitetest crew. Keep up the great work, you ROCK
David, thanks for sharing. As always, you Flite Test/Rc explorer :) guys are awesome for many reasons, one of which is not editing out a near failure. I also like the 8 bit font. Keep up the stellar work! Love it.
This is in Niagara Parks Police jurisdiction on the Canadian side of the border. I'm not sure what the US authorities would say, but this flight is illegal for various reasons. Firstly, he is flying over the border, which is extremely illegal. If one somehow thinks that the US DHS would be willing to ignore that, then you must know that the airspace around the falls itself is heavily trafficked by sightseeing helicopters. Hence, the area immediately surrounding the falls is controlled airspace, and you need a permit (on both sides of the border) to fly there. All this said, most hobbyists are told to immediately stop, and are given a warning not to do it again. The penalty could be much worse, regardless of the fact that you area a hobbyist.
I'm sure that with like many of the stuff David has done, that he has got permission to do it. Although I do recognize everything you say, I don't think he would've just gone and did it, especially know David from many videos.
This was done before quads (drones) became popular. And during the winter, which isn't as many people as summer and looks like they don't police it either during winter. Do that anytime now and yeah, he'd be in jail. Which in my opinion, sucks. We should be free and such to do this and enjoy our parks. We pay taxes for us to use the parks. And if this is the way somebody enjoys doing things at the parks, they should be allowed to. In Ohio here, it's illegal to fly in our parks too, which many people have no idea it is. I see RC helicopters, airplanes, etc all the time. But no rangers, they are lucky. I called the parks and asked for permission and they told me no, it's illegal. I'd like to fight that.
Hi David! I must admit that you have a large "nut" when you dare to fly by as bad weather. Your videos are always a great pleasure to watch Excellent video and even better flight.
You definitely have the best FPV videos out there. I can't wait until you're back with the Joshes on FliteTest, their videos with you in them are easily the most fun to watch. (Hopefully you can get a chance to slap Bixler next time around) =)
You're flying over a giant waterfall in a wind storm one day, and come back and do it the next day in a snow storm,, AND get some amazing shots while doing it. Awesome.
If I lived closer, I would like to fly Niagra Falls, but my @Parrot @ARdrone 2.0 doesn't have the range of your multi-rotor. Flying with the FPV Goggles must be a different experience. Thank you for sharing!
That was just awesome.. what a great perspective of the fall's . What are your operational limits in altitude. I was wondering if you could get some close up's of the chemtrail aircraft because the angle from the ground keeps me from being able to identify the aircraft in question .
congratulations! very cool clip, nice editing, cool shots, goodmusic and a crazy flying team with a quadrokopter / drone. i want one too. thanks - please more.
David; awesome shoot. Question: how did you build your long range tripop antenna with the two square casing? What is made of. Can you show me?. Thanks a million.
In the U.S they make a product called Rain-X..You spray in on the windshield of the car...I have used it and you do not need to turn on the wind shield wipers at highway speeds..The water just rolls off...Amazing stuff..Noticed your lense was spotty..
Great footage! I assume that the video was transmitted? If so it looks great and I'd love to know what gear you're using. I do professional broadcast microwave and my video doesn't always look as good!
Awesome work again David! You are truly an inspiration to this n00bish pilot. Looking forward to the build log and hearing your thoughts on the DJI flight controller. Did you use RTH at all?
Great video. And definitely ahead of the curve a bit, as far as quadcopters being still more on the niche market side of things in early 2012. I'm opefully about to purchase a Phantom 3, which basically does everything for you. I must say, having considered all of your efforts that lead to me watching this video now, you have my respect. That's some dedication. Thanks for the footage!
Fantastic - Makes us like we are eating Donuts sitting on the couch...you are actually flying over Niagra Falls - Really nice work. I will check out your site...I am curious on the video range...is it line of site?? What glasses are you using?
I always take 3 full 32oz Gatorades with me when I fly, and 6 rubber bands. If it gets windy, I strap them to the legs of my tripod. My patch antenna has not fallen over yet, nor have I gone thirsty while charging up LiPos.
Spectacular! When did you trade your tri for a quad? Get yourself a GPS return-to-home a gift, then next time your ground station goes out you won't have quite as much panic. ;) Great video, keep it up!
Hello, congratulations for your video, let me tell you its awesome. i just wanted to know what fpv system are you guys using; are you transmiting with the gopro and recording at the same time? what about the antennas, did you make them. Can you tell me a litle more about the video transmition. thanks beforehand and congratulations once again!!
Hmm, are you flying without transmitter strap? Nice battery on the goggles btw! ;) What about FPV HK parkjet? It's fast but still flies very well at low speeds, and that's even when overloaded a bit.
I lost my Tricopter in a lake due to a failed propellor but luckily managed to recover it and get some of the gear back. How does it feel flying over an area like that where you know there is no chance of recovery ?
Nicely done! This was a very cool experience and thanks for sharing it with us. What controller board do you use and is it your favorite? Respect from Apache Junction, Arizona
I have three questions about your quad in this video. (Pause at 4:11 for reference.) Is the gyro box for the WooKong M wrapped in copper tape? Is that a filter between your skew planar wheel and the VTX? What is the small black cylindrical item tied to the black vertical post (between the GPS Ant and the video Ant?
good call. you guys can go even futher by getting some hydrophoic sprays you can spray onto the outer lens case which will completely repel any beads of water.
Hi David I'm a massive fan I first saw you on flight test, brilliant vids there, also when you went back to Sweden why didn't flight test do a goodbye video for you?!
Grin, just watched this video again... been a while and had forgotten about the "fail" Moral of story ~ Tripod tied to Rail = Stability. Of course I learned that the hard way myself in upstate NY on the top of a mountain. My Nikon survived... I however had a broken rib.. as we were both blown off the edge.
Nice video! Given All your experience and trails I guess you're the ideal person to ask... What size/format do you publish your HD footage onto youtube with? I'm struggling to find one that looks good.
Wow! Had a big smile on my face the entire video. It takes melon size balls to fly over the niagara falls in a blizzard with a $1500 system. (DJI-M+GoPro) very cool!
This video always puts the biggest smile on my face. I have to watch it once a month or so!
I havent been to the falls since 1999. I am from Rochester NY and now live in MN. Really awesome sight to see. Thanks a bunch.
Gents, this is amazing. Top quality, cinema style resolution and videography.
Wow! That was so close to the edge of the fall! Only the fact that we saw the gopro footage let me know from the start - that somehow you must have come back. You did a great job on the blind flying!
Why not strap the base station to your chest? That way you can manually point the antennat by changing your body orientation.
You guys really are the greatest. You bring the best footage and you give so much to do what you do. thank you!
Hey David, this was not a fail, it was a win!!.. you rescued your Tricopter, even your antenna tower fell down... and this IS a win.. I guess, I would have sank my Quadcopter in the Niagara flood :-) *THUMBSUP*

Niagara Falls like you never seen before, great aerial footage

Nicely done all around! The video production, the flying, the scenery, and of course the save!
Hi David! it was because of you that i could build a tricopter, especially on the rear tilting mechanism and put up a writeup here.
Thank you!
It's so weird seeing people go across the country to see something I literally can get in my car and see after a 20 minute drive as i live in buffalo, NY. 😂
BUFFALO REPRESENT.
John Coulter
I hear ya brother. South Cheektowaga.
And you guys are a fucking embarrassment. Fucking socialist losers: th-cam.com/video/cof2Nf-C4GU/w-d-xo.html
Great footage, I sent it around to all FPV interested friends. Great job rescuing the fail.
I love the good old days when we could go out, do this, and be revered. Instead of immediately have people assume we are pervs with "drones". Damn you DJI.

Welcome to Canada and thanks for showing us the Grand Fall in different perspective. Come again :)
Your efforts, with Nature's help, bring us beauty. Many thanks. Your family can be proud.
Absoultely Amazing Look at the waterfall... Thank you so much for posting this, I have never been to Niagara falls, but now thanks to you I feel like I have seen it better then people who have actually been there....

Brilliant shots.

Wow that looked SODDING FREEZING!!!! Nice flight and some views I have never seen before.
That was the most awesome FPV video I have ever seen. Totally AWESOME!
Wow. I know how that feels... you get scared like hell! You saved it because you got so much experience. Good job!
Really enjoyed watching your Niagra falls video. I like your work and your style.
I will watch more of your vids.
Thanks from England
David, you really are a legend! Love the edit and the music.
David, thanks for sharing. As always, you Flite Test/Rc explorer :) guys are awesome for many reasons, one of which is not editing out a near failure. I also like the 8 bit font.
Keep up the stellar work! Love it.
Great Job keeping it out of the falls! my heart dropped when your gear did!
Taking all the risks for our entertainment - what a guy! Love what you do.
I visited Niagara Falls last summer and that is certainly a very cool perspective!
Hello from greece love your videos and your ideas you are inspire us all keep the good work
Nice recovery on the groundstation failure. Cool video delivered by Dadde again.
DAVID AND CHAD! I never realized this was YOU GUYS!!! ROCK on! Nice video BTW!! GREAT WORK!!
Hi David. Somehow I missed this cool video. Hope you get some more up soon, and hope you are doing plenty of flying.
Incredible footage! Great recovery too. Thanks!
Im from Canada and i havent seen Niagra Falls like this before! Some day i would like go there.
You f..ing rock, not only your videos are the best, but now you added the drama ...lol

John C Thank God for our white knight John C to tell us all the blatantly obvious.
I rarely pick up after my dog even though it is against the law to leave that stuff there.
I don't care because I am a scoff law.

That is good nerve control, well done on keeping calm, you are an experience fpv pilot
Great FPV vision, and love the 'moment' when the GS blew over :)
Thank you for the Effort you put in to all your work. Thats hard core with no gloves.
Welcome to Canada, you were only a couple of hours away from us..
Enjoy your videos..
Thanks,
Asplenia
You're flying over a giant waterfall in a wind storm one day, and come back and do it the next day in a snow storm,, AND get some amazing shots while doing it.
Awesome.
How far it has come in 5 years, wow.
Dude... awesome footage - I know just how you felt when that panicked moment of your ground station; sweet video.
I've been to Niagara Falls several times, but this was one of the best views of the falls ever. What FPV system are you using?
David -- great video!! Well done. I am glad you were able to save that nice tricopter :)
If I lived closer, I would like to fly Niagra Falls, but my @Parrot @ARdrone 2.0 doesn't have the range of your multi-rotor. Flying with the FPV Goggles must be a different experience. Thank you for sharing!

Still one of the best, You make TBS like like hacks !

why i found this so late.. come on..! this movie is 1 year old.. i missed so much in my life..;)
This is amazing.
Awesome video, and you got some ballz talking it back there a second time after the first little misshap haha.
Great video. And definitely ahead of the curve a bit, as far as quadcopters being still more on the niche market side of things in early 2012. Too awesome.. Been stuck on your channel since the rc tank battle haha. Great views..
How do LiPo's perform when it's cold outside? Does cold temperature significantly reduces flight time?
Been there so many times, still love it.
wow..damn cool video..just want to know do feel any different flying tricopter and quadrocopter?
Great vid m8! Ilove your site too...been building stuff out of your schemes. Right now the tricopter..Thank you for sharing all that .

Helt underbar film. Pure joy to watch your amazing vids :)
Very cool, "no fear David." Showing us how it's done.
Spectacular! When did you trade your tri for a quad? Get yourself a GPS return-to-home a gift, then next time your ground station goes out you won't have quite as much panic. ;) Great video, keep it up!
EPIC - thanks for sharing! How can anybody NOT like this video???
I would recommend a tie down strap for your ground station to the fence. Or anything around you to connect to.

Try to do that these days and you'll get the book thrown at you. Nice vid David.
Another fantastic video David!

This is my dream! Thank you guys, you showed to me that it is possible!
@Brageca Mine :) Buildlog coming soon
Hi there ...AWESOME simply awesome!
Can you tell me that HD FPV camera did u use ? I really appreciate it ! Thanks and thumbs up man. Respect !
Awesome. Would be great to be flying there. Well done on the video edit too.
INCREDIBLE! Love the VR Goggle idea!

Great video good thing you had a spotter and didn't panic that's the biggest thing about flying FPV is not to panic at little interference
You guys have a ton of balls to do that! Great job and I watch you on flitetest channel; always. Great job!
