- John Mellencamp performs "Authority Song" live at the Farm Aid concert in Irving, Texas on March 14, 1992. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Man, I would've loved to see John Mellencamp back in the day. I was really wish that I was alive when he was really popular.
Kenny was such a powerhouse behind this band and John’s songs over some many years. Shame they parted ways. Wasn’t the same after, well for me anyway.

Saw him at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia back in 1983. I think he was still just John Cougar then? I was into heavier music for the most part and wasn't expecting much from him but was pleasantly surprised.
I danced to this song when I was younger.... if I did it now I probably hurt myself.........
My favorite singer, I can always find just threw right songs to put on and take a long breather from thre b.s. of the day. I would love to see more of his artwork as well. Very talented man and a great big thank you for sharing!!
