Hard to Kill? nobody told them on the gold coast motorway that they were hard to kill. The Only road kill you'd never want to cook and eat. The AU has the same beaky look like the bin chook though.
It's your call, but since you asked for advice while installing the belts: I would say please wear a HANS if you are wearing a harness. 3 point belts and airbags prevent neck-snapping impacts by allowing your body to move with your head. With your whole body locked in place, a HANS is a really important safety feature.
Crash safety is a multi-part system. In a standard street car the system is crumple zones + belts that allow torso movement + airbags. While race equipment is safer for the higher speeds, it's only safer if it accounts for every part of the system: - Harnesses keep your body in place much better - But now your head will put strain on your neck = HANS becomes important - The harness also keeps you from folding at the waist, so in a rollover if the roof collapses you have less head safety as well = roll cage. For a limited subset of events and circumstances you can get away with piecemeal, but these mods aren't too difficult or expensive, and are probably good content for the channel! Cheers from an amateur track rat in Portland, OR
