This song is considered to be the first pop song of Nepal. It was a superhit and popular song in the Eighties. After singing this song Om Bikram Bista earned the title Pop king of Nepal. The song was recorded in Radio Nepal.
One of his super hit songs Ma Mauntama was originally written and composed by Robert Subba. However, as the lyrics were incomplete, Puru Thapa completed it and he had loved it the moment he listened to it for the first time. Later, he and Subarna Limbu improvised it and then recorded it which became one of the most popular songs of Nepali music industry.

I'm from Sikkim but I've been listening to this song for almost 3 decades and felt sad to hear that many new Nepali generations are listening it for the first time... BIG THANKS to Voice of Nepal for re introducing all this rare golden songs to our young music lovers.
Even i am from sikkim and my dad used to play this song in guitar. It was on of hos favourite songs. I miss my dad. May ur soul rest in peace forever baba. Love you forever. Listeneing to this song today as i am missing u a hell lot.
Thanks Daju for your honest comment but there's one thing I want to add that may be most of the present generation of Nepalese people don't know about the evergreen song but whoever are there the real music lover knows about it and I think this song is probably the fittest option in everyone's mind to start learning the guitar.

I am from Sikkim, this song is a classic modern song of the late 1960s decade. It used to be my favourite. Whenever I hear this song , I am transported back to those beautiful times when I was in boarding school in Darjeeling. It used to be winter vaccations when comming back home to Gangtok, I used to hear this song floating out of the old
' Echo ' radio or the old National Panasonic transistor broadcast from Radio Nepal in their programme for Modern Nepali songs, Programme for Nepalese residing outside Nepal and late night Bigyapan Sewa. I have seen that this particular number is still the rage of the age, just as it used to be more than 50 years ago.
Listening to this song is a journey into the past .. to the times when one did not need television, mobile hand sets, laptops, tablets or smart television sets to be entertained.
This song remains an all time favourite, both for me and my better half.

Om Bikram Bista has done a superb job in singing this song but I must say that the credit must also go to the ones who created the song. The lyrics were written by Albert Subba and the song was composed by Robert Subba. These two brothers are equally responsible and part of the song as much as Om Bikram Bista is so let us pay our due respects to all three who have given us this wonderful eternal hit!!!

Thank you for your kind words sir! Albert Subba and Robert Subba were my maternal grand father's brothers! Although Albert baje passed away at a young age but I was fortunate enough to know and play with Robert baje when i was very young. My maternal family was entwined with music from a very early stage and these 4 brothers, yes there were four brothers were the founding pillars in our family. Roger, George, Robert and Albert Subba among which Albert passed at a fairly young age but it was said that he could play guitar with his teeth and had a master like control over the instrument. George was a drummer who also was a member of the nepal's first rock band in the 70's called the prism and Robert Subba was the musicial, composer and lyricist of the family while their sister Mary Subba had the most angelic voice you could hear. My own grandfather Roger was an all rounder, he could play drums, keyboards, guitars, harmonica any instruments you name it he could play and he had a very sweet voice.
Among them only Roger my baje is alive and well, rest all of them passed away. But I was fortunate enough to have spend time with them and learn from them. I love listening to the stories about them!
